One blade February

Wednesday:

Razor: Rockwell 6C Plate 4
Blade: Ladas Super Stainless (5)
Brush: WWBW Jingle 2 Band Badger
Soap: WSP Barbershop
AS: WSP Barbershop

Thursday:

Razor: Rockwell 6c Plate 4
Blade: Ladas Super Stainless
Brush: WWBW Jingle 2 Band Badger
Soap: Razorock Mudder Focker
AS: Aqua Velva Ice Blue

Still going strong on the Ladas blade with no noticeable difference in the quality of the shave. Getting mixed DFS/BBS results and little to no irritation. I'm starting to think that I was wasting blades everytime I changed one out after 3 or 4 shaves!

Hey, how's it going in here guys with the dulling blades and all?

After Shave 7 I think the Parker is finally settling in. It was beginning to feel like a graham field, glad it’s past that stage now.

Shave 4 with GSB abs Gillette Tech. A bit of irritation, but given it was opposite handed can’t say it was the blade’s fault.

2019 Shave # 40

Razor: Rockwell 6s Plate 5
Blade: Sputnik (13)

Brush: Paladin 26 mm Lime Lotus

Soap: Clown Puke (Samples Compilation)
Aftershave 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla

Aftershave 2: Brut

Shave 13 on the Sputnik. No longer as sharp as I prefer but feel it could be pushed the distance to complete the 1 blade Feb challenge..............if I can stay on course. The Clown Puke tub had nothing standing out scent wise to me but was pleasant and really a quality lather with little to no effort. I gotta start another so I have a backup. Topped it off with Brut and I'll smell good to myself while doing paperwork and starting my taxes at the house. Quick video uploading of the shave. Have a great day Cadre !!

Popped in a new Voskhod blade for the challenge because the last one seemed to be at it's end. I will be keeping this one in the same razor for the duration, so let's see if I can get more use out of this one.

Today was Shave 11 with my Parker. And for the first time, I feel like I actually got a comfortable shave from it.

With all the break in time you’ve needed with this Parker, I’m curious what your DE blade of choice is KJ? Again I’m surprised that you haven’t had a great experience with this blade off the bat. But I guess this is where YMMV comes into play ?

My go-to blades are Personnas, Feathers, and Voskhods.... in that order.

Well I’m a fan of Feathers (in the right razor) and Voskhods. But I’ve had nothing but bad experiences with Personnas. I’ve only used the platinums though.

Personna Platinum Chromes are the best blade I’ve used. My source has dried up, and I don’t think the current Platinums are the same blade.

Yesterday my Parker gave up. It failed to give me a close shave. And that is my deciding factor for pitching a blade. Around noon, I felt my face, and I had a lot of stubble, the same feel I don't expect until well into the evening. That's when I know that the next day I'm getting a new blade. Couldn't even get two weeks out of this blade (12 days), and that is appalling.

Threw a new one in today, and it still feels a bit draggy... but maybe not quite as much as the last one did on its first shave. So maybe there's hope. There's today + 15 more shaves this month, so we'll see if this one will last for the remainder of the challenge.

Still at a loss at how this blade is loved by so many. It's one of the worst I've ever tried.

Shave 18 on the Sputnik today and I've had issues with earlier stubble for awhile but still trudging along till it's too uncomfortable....

Unexpected plot twist!

The Ladas is definitely losing it's sharpness, but still very comfortable. I was still able to get DFS with only 2 passes. Very little irritation, but that could just be user error. I decided to try something different on my second pass and went directly against the grain on my neck instead of a hybrid XTG/ATG like I usually do. I didn't notice a difference in closeness and was left with just a touch of irritation in one area. But I guess that could still be due to the blade not being as sharp as it could be. Either way I'm not complaining and will continue to keep pushing this blade until it's not comfortable anymore.
