Nurse Dave's Journal

Well, let's see where we are now.

Shave #2191 was done in the hotel prior to boarding the Disney bus at the Disney report to be taken to the Disney cruise terminal to board the Disney ship.
Shaves # 2192-2202 were done on the ship. All but the last one while we were cruising along.

To keep in the spirits of the simplicity of Sam and the scentlessness of Bruce every shave was done with a Stirling brush, a Feather SS w/ Feather Proguard blade, and all but one with a Wilkinson Sword shave stick. I did bring WSP Matterhorn soap and a bowl, but found it much more efficient to not have to deal with whooping up lather.

I think I was off count by one and today is 2202 days of consecutive shaving. A little shorter walk to this shave den than on the ship. All in all the last couple of weeks have been fun. Seen places we haven't before though it was all pretty hot and humid. I'll tell ya, that ship has some might powerful A/C units! We'd get close to the gangway and you would feel the chill just blowing out of the big open doors. Can't imagine what it takes to produce that much cold air for hours on end adding in all the other exterior doors that are opening constantly. One of the prettiest places probably was the pitons on St Lucia. Also got to briefly swim under waterfalls on two islands, and experience lightening and thunder the likes I can't recall. The sharp crack of the thunder right over us made you feel the power of the electricity.

HA! Ya'll tried to keep me down and you couldn't!

This weekend was the biggie, my in-laws 50th Sammiversary. My wife planned everything and it stayed a secret from my MIL which was an accomplishment. We had about 45 people and the restaurant did a nice job with everything. I did learn the next time I get the question "Are you okay if we ask people if they want a pre-dinner cocktail?" the answer should be "NO!". We already brought the wine for dinner and were paying corkage per bottle. A few fools racked up a several hundred dollar bar tab, which was an accomplishment since most of the people there didn't drink. Well, all in all it was great and a family reunion of sorts with people that hadn't seen each other for a while getting together.

Oh ya, I'm still shaving. You know, if we got rid of all the shaving stuff on this site, it would take a lot less cloud storage.

Well, there it is. 1000 open-blade shaves. I was going to hit it on the cruise and do a video, but then it got pushed back a day or two and would have been on a port day. I didn't know how well that would work into a video, so I pushed it back until we got home. Then I lost track a little and thought I had one more shave to go and didn't realize today was 1000 until I started logging my shaves. So poof, there it is and was. I'll have to do a video for 2000 for sure!

Pretty full weekend this last one. Got my haircut and asked my barber if there was a style he thinks would look better than what I normally do. He said shorter. So I let him do his thing with a #2 on the side. Feedback seems to be positive so there we go. He also said this could grow out a little more without looking bad. Then my wife and I ended up in a street fair not too far away. Some nice booths to wander through and we shared a pulled pork nachos. Finished up by watching The Union which I thought would be a good action flick. It was an okay action flick with enough "that's too much of a coincidence" for me. Sunday my wife went to the movies with her mom in the morning so I watched Land of the Bad which was a much better action movie. Then the zoom call where I got to hear Matt's travel story from **** which everyone not on the call totally missed out. Then off to the in-laws for some tasty dinner. Now, I'm back behind the desk without even so much as a lunch meeting.
