Nurse Dave's Journal

Getting caught up. Saw some of the pics on Facebook too. Looks like you all had a wonderful trip! I see you did the same wine tour it appears we did in Ensenada.

We did the "city tour" which I was pretty disappointed in. It was more of, take you to places to buy stuff for tourists, tour. I guess that's the usual for these though. Some are good and full of history and some are like this. We went to a convention center that used to be an old casino (10min of history there and a lot of little tourist vendors), the winery, and then downtown which was mostly pharmacies selling viagra and pain pills. Did have some good street tacos though, and my daughter liked getting her name on a bracelet made in front of her for $3.

Nice tribute Dave. Lucy was our love for 10 years, unril she succumbed to cancer. She was a Cane Corso Mastiff. A warier and a gladiator, but she would greet you with a wiggle and some slobber.

Thanks guys. The soap was on the edge of too floral for me. But so far I'm keeping it to bring up a tribute shave from time to time.

Ah... we actually were on a bus for 45 min driving to the actual winery where the grapes are grown etc, and did the tasting there. Afterwards the bus stopped at the same old casino and the downtown part to see the pharmacies etc. But most of our 'tour' was at the winery which included lunch.

2018 shave #122 (DE:19 SE:39 Str:61 Cart:2)

Schone w/ Feather (1)
GTB
Stirling 26mm synthetic pro
Witch Hazel & Alum
Nivea post shave balm
GTB AS
GTB EdP

Well, I got jealous seeing MilkCrate over there getting to use GTB twice in a row so I needed to pull it out. I need at least a day to get back into the morning routine before jumping back into the straights. The blades in my razors were all getting to be at replacement time so, I emptied most of them out and saw the Shone in the drawer looking neglected, so I decided to give it some love. In contract to the RX, it's pretty light with a short handle. I thought it would likely not give a very satisfying shave now. I don't hear the dolphins this morning, but I do have a pretty good DE BBS shave.

Came me back from vacation to plenty of yard work, chores and a work off-site so it’s taking me a bit to get caught up with ya’ll.

Unfortunately I think I have. In the past it’s taken almost a week to not feel swaying at all when I’m in small spaces. I actually enjoy that because it takes me back to vacation.

I take that back. I'm sitting in my office now and it feels like the whole room is swaying!

Great shave and picture Dave!

That floating feeling is a free gift from the cruise line, I hope you enjoy it for many days. Your FB posts made the trip look like a lot of fun, My wife wants to do the Disney cruise but we have just never gotten over the added expense of air fair ...we usually take what would have been spent on air fair and take a short trip just ourselves.

Welcome home and hope you didn't gain too much from the amazing food. (At least every cruise I've been on has been amazing)

I'm jealous of those that live in Florida. If I lived close enough to drive, I like to think I'd take a few cruises a year. But Disney is great. We've been with a few companies and Disney being a level above the mainline cruises is apparent, but of course you pay for that as well.

Heh, this time we actually did take the stairs almost all the time!

2018 shave #123 (DE:20 SE:39 Str:61 Cart:2)

Schone w/ Feather (2)
PannaCrema Nuavia Rossa
Plisson synthetic 24mm in Shave Revolution handle
Witch Hazel & Alum
Nivea post shave balm
Penhaligon's Opus 1870

I chickened out with the straight again this morning. Or more accurately the though of getting out my hook and strop and prepping a razor was too much for the early hour. Now I remember thinking that true straights might only happen on weekends. So I figured there isn't a reason to let this blade go to waste and had the same shave I did yesterday with a wonderful soap. I really need to organize myself to be ready for a straight shave in the morning.

If you aren't feeling the straight it is best to set it aside and grab another trusted razor. The prep is the one thing that prevents me from completely falling down the rabbit hole lol.

I think the clear solution is to train my kids to hone and strop.

Good call on avoiding the straight this morning. You have to commit to a straight to get a good shave. Great shave.
