There are a few things I've done in my life, just a couple, where every time I do it, the same song plays in my head while I do it. I mean, I have music in my head a lot of the time, but in these specific situations, a specific song plays.
If I'm mowing the lawn with a push mower, I hear Show Box Kids and Bodissatvha by Street Dan. There's a reason for this, and it's a long, uninteresting story.
Another one has emerged. Every time I use the Ti Blackbird, I hear Red Barchetta by Rush. This one is a pretty clear, and a little silly I guess, relation. The song is about recklessly driving a Ferrari. There's a bunch of sci-fi trappings, but the point of the song, as program music, is to portray driving a Ferrari, or the feelings attached.
So I guess I'm telling myself that there's something "sports car" like about the Ti Blackbird. Thing is, I've never driven a sports car. My taste in automobiles goes for, as small and energy efficient as possible, while also really reliable. If there's one new car I'm interested in, it's the Toyota Yaris.
But this razor is so perfectly fast looking. It portrays rapid forward motion so vividly, it is, in my opinion, a razor that is also fully a sculpture. Shaving with it is, for me, never going to be a daily thing. It's just too exfoliative. But it's one of a few razors I have, that I think of as industrial sculpture, and that adds an interesting aspect to the shave. I make my own strange fun.
