I'm not sure why they replaced the perfectly functioning young body I have with this old man body. I think it's a prank being played on me. I mean seriously, I was able to do every type of physical activity without needing to recover for 4 days....this is ridiculous....I want my money back....where's the manager?

Today's shave:

Razor: Karve Overlander Stainless Steel
Blade: Wizamet Super Iridium
Brush: Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Amber Areolite
Lather: Zingari Man The Rambler
Aftershave: Zingari Man The Rambler Aftershave Balm
Additional Care:
Humphreys Maravilla
Osma Tradition Alum Block

Great scent, wonderful brush, and the balm, my first use, is very nice. Lightly scented, light texture, and absorbs well, leaving the skin moist and supple.

Today's shave, June 25, 2023

Razor: Karve Overlander Stainless Steel
Blade: Wizamet Super Iridium
Brush: Simpson "Rover"
Lather: Zingari Man The Master
Aftershave: Wet Shaving Products Barbershop Aftershave
Additional Care:
Humphreys Maravilla
Osma Tradition Alum Block

The Master claims on its lid that it is a dark spicy barbershop. I have so many problems with this I'm not even go into it except that barbershops are dark and spicy like my bowling ball is light and fluffy.

Now, I can say for certain that I have never bought a soap because of the visual design. I mean, SV is nutso, and kind of its own thing to me, like dressing up to eat. But I bought it, and every other soap I've bought, so I could try the soap.

Still, some artisans have either hired out or birthed themselves, some interesting designs.

Again, it's not a primary interest, so this is a rare exception. I think that the lid for Zingari Man The Master, which depicts a Master Barber in his workplace, preparing something. The label makes use of metallic ink for metal implements and a font. The detail of the image, which appears to be a reduction from a painting, is very fine.

Its striking to me, so I'm pointing it out.

The Overlander, day 5 of 24 hour interval shaving, and no issues.

Today's shave:

Razor: Karve Overlander Stainless Steel
Blade: Wizamet Super Iridium
Brush: Simpson Chubby 3 Manchurian (Faux Sapphire)
Lather: Macduff's Soap Company Birch Root
Aftershave: Royalle Lyme Aftershave Lotion
Additional Care:
Humphreys Maravilla
Osma Tradition Alum Block

Another very nice soap from Canadian soapmakers, MacDuffs. If you like root beer, birch beer, sarsaparilla etc, this might be worth a try. It smells just like Birch Beer, with a slight tough of wintergreen. It's a super dense "low structure" lather in the mode of the Kaizen line or B&M Soft Heart, which is a good thing if you like it.

Man, sometimes I'll just hit myself with a shot of #89 because I'm in the room with it.

Today's second shave.

Razor: Karve Overlander Stainless Steel
Blade: Wizamet Super Iridium
Brush: Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Atomic Rocket
Pre-Shave: Cella Pre-shave gel
Lather: Cella Red Shave Cream with Shea Butter
Aftershave: Cella Lozione Dopabarba Aftershave
Additional Care:
Humphreys Maravilla
Osma Tradition Alum Block

It has been 18 hours, and I'm trying to see how this razor does as an every day choice for a while, so I figured I'd risk a bit of a sore face, just to see how it does with minimal growth. No problem, no soreness, no irritation.

When I first started wetshaving, I used TOBS, because what I was reading was shavers telling me to shave with one lineup, and a cream like TOBS which lathers itself, so I could focus on the razor and its effective use. There would be time to explore. The first priority was to learn to use the razor.

I am thankful I found and followed this advice.

But my first soap that required lathering was Cella, and I shaved with some real disasters for a while. In fact, it was a lot longer before I got lathering down, than it was for me to get consistent BBS shaves.

Those were fun times though. So are these!

Have a great day!

Today's shave, June 28, 5:00am.

Razor: Karve Christopher Bradley Stainless Steel D Plate, 4" Argyle Handle
Blade: Gillette Nacet Stainless
Brush: Simpson Persian Jar PJ2 Manchurian
Lather: Zingari Man Bon Monsieur
Aftershave: Fine American Blend
Additional Care:
Humphreys Maravilla
Osma Tradition Alum Block

This razor has my strongest recommendation as an everyday razor. It is a treasure.

The PJ2 is just the right size.

And Fine American Blend makes me glad I've got a couple of pucks of the old stuff. At this rate, in a couple of years, I'll have an extensive collection of the old stuff. A soap snapshot starting in 2013 and focusing on American Soaps and razors, 2019-2023. I'm looking forward to it.
