I really happy to hear you enjoyed the Orion soap, it’s exciting to hear. And yes, the jar is too small …not just YOUR jar.

I agree Pannacrema Nuavia is a great soap, I think I like the Red better than the green or blue (I never tried the black) but verde is a great scent.

No jar would keep me from every bit of your soap, so it could be a big bag of sample pots. All that really matters is the soap, which I love.

Are these beliefs accurate?

1. Squeaky clean is actually indicative of soap scum on the face.

2. Facial cleansing gels are meant to feel like something remains on the face. My experience of this is with Nivea Facial Cleanser.

Today's shave, June 13, 2023

Razor: Timeless Titanium .95
Blade: Personna Platinum Israeli Red
Brush: Simpson Colonel X2L Best Badger
Lather: CBL Russian Tea
Aftershave: Captain's Choice North Aftershave
Additional Care:
Humphreys Maravilla
Osma Tradition Alum Block

I opened the jar and relished the scent. I enjoyed it all the way through the shave. But I don't smell like Russian Tea, which is how I prefer my shaving soap scent to perform.

Sparing you the details, it sure is great when a medicine works.

Of all.the things I'm missing out on by not using a straight razor, the most intriguing one to me is the "buttery edge." From the outside, it sure seems like an experience for which there are no words, so you do the best you can. Those can be great.

1. I always thought squeaky clean implied zero residue.

2. I believe you are correct.

Today's shave:

Razor: Rex Supply Konsul
Blade: Gillette Nacet Stainless
Brush: Simpson B5 Beaufort Pure Badger
Pre-Shave: Proraso Red
Lather: CBL Iron Throne
Aftershave: Reuzel After Shave
Additional Care:
Humphreys Maravilla
Osma Tradition Alum Block

If brutalist architects designed a razor, I think it would resemble the Konsul. I got it because I loved the Rex Envoy so much, and the idea of an adjustable slant was really intriguing. It is a substantial block of mass.

The soap is a Game of Thrones soap. I watched the first two episodes, but quit and left it to everyone else when they killed a dog. Word is, there may have been some other violence on the show. It's a really really enjoyable soap, and the cooling is a subtle reminder that Winter is coming. More cutting edge pop culture commentary from yours truly.

Reuzel!!!

And the Beaufort is a "pure" badger, with a bit of skritch, which I like. It was a good pickup.

So I set up my old Alexa for my Mother, who is mostly in bed now, so she can listen to music. She only likes country music from before 1970. The problem is that since it was registered to me, my "stuff you'll like playlist" started throwing Merle Haggard and George Jones and Loretta Lynn in my mix. She didn't have an Amazon account, one of 2 or 3 Americans without one probably, so I spent a couple of hours figuring out how to deregister that Alexa, create her account, add her to my family music plan, and register the device to her.

It's all set up now, and she's overjoyed, and has been thinking of artists and trying them out, all afternoon.[emoji846]

It is 3 am. I'll hopefully be asleep by 7. In my search for insomnia relief, I've given several.apps a try, one of which offered bedtime stories. They don't put me to sleep, because I want to hear the end! One, read progressively quietly over 15 minutes by Stephen Fry, was an article about lavender. It was an adjective-laden description of a French lavender farm and adjoining oil distillation facility.

Placebo or physiological, the scent of lavender triggers a visceral (as in, right in the gut) relaxation response in me. I vaporize the oil when I go to bed. It is the only "aromatherapy" remedy that has ever appeared to produce the claimed effect, in my experience.

So lavender shave soaps are a thing in my den. I've tried Barrister and Mann Reserve, this gem, Catie's Bubbles Menage à Lavende, the sublime Ethos Lavender Supreme, Kiss My Face, Løthür Calm, Mystic Water, PAA, Shannon's.

Maybe I should do a shootout. I've never done a shootout.

This is my first use of Zingari Man Recovery Splash. I like it. Writing this 30 min after application, my face is soothed and supple, and not at all oily.

I've been thinking about the Blackbird. There's either a mild plate now available for it, or a mild version overall, I'm not exactly sure. But the high-stakes, blade forward experience I get using the Ti, is sort of in harmony with the whole Superjet theme of the thing. A mild Blackbird takes away part of the adventure of the thing.

I like using it, a lot, but it definitely requires the right mood. The blade announces itself. So, it's not my favorite shaver, but I do enjoy using it. It, and the Vector, are two of my favorite razors in terms of physical appearance.
