I tried out Barbus Active this morning, and it's a solid performer with a sporty scent. I got a Yates 921 DE this week, and I don't like the thin handle, so I ordered the thicker, shorter handle. It shaves great, but it's not the amazing razor, for me, that it's been hyped to be. I have a Vector arriving this week, so I'm psyched to try it out and see if it's as good, for me, as it's lauded to be.

Brush: Simpson Chubby 2 Super Badger
Lather: Barbus Active

Well, I just completed my first shave with the Blackland Vector, and I'm very impressed. I used A Feather Professional Super, and got a nice BBS shave. Maneuvering under the nose is a bright spot, and the main place where it outperforms the Diamondback. I'm going to shave with it for a week with the Super blade, then switch to the standard professional, and then proceed to trying the other Artist Club blades. But I can already safely say that I'm pleased with my investment. I used Barbus classic, having bought both the Classic and the Active, from the guy who imports Barbus, mainly to support him, as he came down with a bad case of Covid last week. I like both Barbuses. It's a solid performer. Now, I'm off to clean up my new Simpson PJ3 Persian Jar brush. I ordered a Rockwell 6S last night, so I've got that to look forward to. Then I'm thinking I'm going to focus moving forward on enjoying what I've got, as I've literally run out of space for any more soaps, aftershaves, and razors.

Second go round with the Vector. What a razor! Super smooth, maneuverable, and sharp! The Feather Pro Super makes such short work of the stubble. The three ounce Stirling Green smells enough like Polo Green to take me back to High School. And today my stimulus check appeared in my account, so I immediately turned it around and grabbed some long desired stuff recommended by Barber Dave. Pannacrema Nuavia Verde, SP Desert Vetiver, Ethos Green fresh, and I also ordered the Rockwell 6S, which I've always been curious about. Just trying to do my part to stimulate the economy!

Another Vector shave. I certainly rivals the Diamondback in efficiency, although it is not, with the Feather Super blade, as smooth. I'll be trying the Feather Pro tomorrow, and I have some Schick P-30s on the way.

I tried out my new Rockwell 6S on plate 4 this morning. A very smooth, comfortable shave, but ultimately I'm moving up to plate 5 tomorrow, as I like a bit more efficiency. I used Ariana and Evans Amy, am Amy Winehouse tribute in Kaizen. As usual, it did a great job, especially with residual slickness for the necessary clean up.

I moved up to Plate 5 on the Rockwell 6S and am very happy with the results. It's a bulky, heavy razor, but the shave is very comfortable. For the soap, I tried out Declaration Grooming Opulence, and it has a spicy, incense-like scent. I could've loaded a bit longer, but I had just enough lather. My Aftershave was the classic Pinaud Musk.

I like the Simpson Trafalgar. It's pretty reasonably priced, although I think I prefer the PAA brushes when it comes to synthetics. I recently got the Amber Areolite, and it may be my favorite synthetic brush. I'm still partial to badgers though, and I'm excited to give my new Simpson Persian Jar a funk-free run for it's money in the morning.

I used some more new gear today, for my birthday shave. The Henson aluminum razor is very mild, even though it's listed as a medium aggressive razor. I didn't find that to be the case. TOBS Royal Forest smells great and works just fine, like all TOBS creams. And Razorock Blue Barbershop AS smells wonderful.

Agreed! Fortunately I can still get a BBS from it. Not sure how you find the Astra to be in it, I recently switched to a Feather and it’s been a much better shave, for me.

I'll give the Feather a try!

Tonight I used the Yates 921M with the shorter fatter handle, and I greatly prefer it to the long, thin handle it ships with. But the star of the show tonight was Pannacrema Nuavia Verde! Man is that soap slick! I've been using a different soap pretty much daily for a month, though several were of the same base with a different scent. Kaizen, Milk steak, you name it, I've probably given it a go in the last couple of months. And they're all pretty darned good. I like the low structure, super creamy Kaizen and K2, but man oh man do I like this Pannacrema Nuavia Verde! It loaded so quickly and exploded into a rich, thick lather that took a nice amount of water. But the slickness! It is a very slick lather with fantastic residual slickness. I got a terrific shave tonight with this soap, and though I've got a queue of around a dozen new soaps to try, I think I may give this stuff another use tomorrow, as it was so enjoyable. I'm seriously considering using it in my March Fixed Four.

I used Orion Hammam Spa today, and really liked the scent. It's a very good soap. The Vector continues to astound me. It's a beautiful razor.

Today I used the Rockwell 6S on plate 5. I really like the Rockwell - it's a very comfortable shave. It's a hefty razor, with minimal blade feel on this plate. Quite the contrast from the Vector, which, for me, presents the blade front and center. The Vector shaves me closer, but it's not as comfortable, at least with a feather super. I have other blades to try in it. I tried out Ethos Greenfresh, my fourth Ethos soap, and a really terrific scent that filled the den. It's a fantastic soap, like the others, with great residual slickness. I don't have a top 5 or a top 10, of any ranking really, but Ethos is as good as it gets.
