A double shot of Scotch before my shave tonight. I have my Zoom meeting for my new job offer tomorrow and I'm a little uptight. So I went for a relaxing, low intensity shave with the Rockwell 6S on plate 6, which is still a pretty low intensity shave. I tried out The Soloist for me soap, but to be honest, I need to try it again when my senses arent dulled by Scotch. I feel relaxed, but I didn't really enjoy the shave like I usually do. No more shots before shaving.

Razor: Rockwell 6S Plate 6
Blade: Astra Superior Platinum
Brush: Omega Evo
Pre-Shave: Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Cube (Mentholated)
Lather: Zingari Man/West Coast Shaving The Soloist
Aftershave: Reuzel After Shave

I tried out Reuzel after shave for the first time tonight. Quite a remarkable face feel!

Heeeey...little celebratin and shavin hm? 😂

Soloist is a magnificent scent to my nose. Nice boozy, rich, and spicy!

I used a Kai Captain Mild blade in the Vector tonight. A serrated blade, which is a first for me. I was expecting to be less close because of it, but I got a very comfortable BBS with it. I'm very impressed, and feel even more strongly that good prep and proper cutting angle are the strongest factors in the quality of the shave. So, so far in the Vector Artist Club trials, I have tried the following blades, listed in order of preference:

1. Schick P-30
2. Kai Captain Mild
3. Feather Super

I'll keep trying the rest, but I'm doing a few shaves on each blade to see if things change over time.

Blade: Kai Artist Club Captain Titan Mild Pro Touch MG
Brush: Tech Hive Synthetic
Lather: Ariana & Evans So Cal Hipster
Aftershave: Razorock Blue Barbershop

Today I tried out Wickham Soap Company 1912 Cashmere shave soap. It has a nice, soft, clean scent, and a medium structure lather. More fluffy than A&E, less than MdC. Very good residual slickness, and a supple post-shave feel. For once, I got the matching balm, which absorbed very quickly and didn't leave me feeling sticky at all. The Rockwell, even on plate 6, is a very comfortable shave. A great Sunday shave!

Great shave today with the Kai Titan Mild. A very comfortable blade that still gets me BBS. I tried out 345 Soap Co. Ol' Red, which smells a lot like Stirling Christmas Eve, with a hint of berry. The Aftershave is very Wintery, and a little oily, but it smells wonderful. I've made the hard decision to give up on using talc. It just gets all over the house, so the mess is more of a hassle than the use is a benefit.

My first three years of wetshaving involved TOBS or Proraso Red or Green, an Omega Boar Brush, and an Edwin Jagger DE89lbl with a Gillette 7 O'Clock Green blade. I had a nice NOS Gillette NEW long comb, but I rarely used it. The vast majority of my first 1000 DE shaves were with the DE89. It's a great razor that gives good, close, comfortable shaves. I still have it. I haven't used it in a while, as most of my shaves the past year have been with the Paradigm Diamondback, the Rex Envoy, the Rockwell 6S, the Karve, or, more recently, the Vector. Well, my soft spot for the EJ razor made me very curious about their Stainless Steel offering, the 3ONE6. So after riding the fence for several months, I finally ordered one. It arrived today and I just used it tonight. I'm very impressed. It does not feel like the 89. It is lighter and more maneuverable. A bit more blade feel. It's a very nice looking razor. I got the fully knurled handle. It is a precision instrument, made of Sheffield steel. I'm very happy with it, and if a new Timeless Titanium weren't arriving tomorrow, I'd probably use it again tomorrow. It may make my lineup for my yearly Fixed Four March exercise. I have to settle on a lineup in the next few days. We'll see how that goes, as I currently have 18 new soaps to try, and I hate putting them on hold until April, but I enjoy doing the Fixed Four exercise every March. At any rate, the 3ONE6 is a fine razor, band I'm very happy with my purchase.
The Lakewood soap I tried out tonight was wonderful. I'm very impressed with their base, and it doesn't hurt that since they're a Tennessee outfit, I'm sort of buying local. I finished off with a splash of Irisch Moos, which smells great and green.

Razor: Edwin Jagger 3ONE6
Blade: Gillette Wilkinson Sword (Indian)
Brush: Simpson Commodore X3
Pre-Shave: Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Cube (Mentholated)
Lather: Lakewood Soap Company Smokey Mountain Rain
Aftershave: Irisch Moos Aftershave

Shave #2 with the 3ONE6. It's definitely not just a steel DE89. It's very comfortable, smooth and efficient. I'm very happy with this purchase. I tried out Ariana & Evans Shave Butter, and while it's very rich and luxurious, and it's vegan, it kind of lacks in the residual slickness department. Somehow, I've acquired, in fits and starts, 15 A&E soaps, mainly because I like the Kaizen base, and I was curious about the scents. I'm pretty much satisfied with them, and while I like this new shave butter formula, I definitely prefer Kaizen, and as far as vegan soaps go, I think I like PAA CK-1 and CK-6 better, because of their Superior residual slickness. But I'm easy. The only soap I've tried that I flat out didn't like was Arko, because it dries out my skin. I like the scent, fwiw. This was day two of my first Gillette Wilkinson Sword blade, Indian variety. It's fine.

Shave #3 with the Edwin Jagger 3ONE6. It's really a nimble little razor that reminds me of the Gillette NEW Long Comb. It's not as aggressive, but the weight and balance are reminiscent. It's really a lovely piece of steel. I tried out Southern Witchcrafts Samhain, and while the scent isn't really up my alley, the performance was very good. Finished things off with some Aqua Velva Musk, so I'm smelling like my Dad.

Well, I've tried out a fairly large number of soaps in my time, but today I tried what, for me, is absolutely the worst soap I've ever encountered. A few years ago, Myrsol came out with Don Miguel 1919 aftershave. Lightly Mentholated and redolent of jasmine. I love jasmine, so I picked up a bottle, and I love it! Last week, while perusing The Razor Company website, lol and behold, there was a Myrsol puck in the 1919 fragrance. So I ordered it. I tried it out this morning, and it lathered up fine, but it leaves behind a tacky, seemingly non-soluable film on my hands, brush, razor and face, that hand soap had a hard time removing. Only rubbing alcohol did the trick. I'll never use it again, which is a shame, because it smells divine. Oh well, 200+ soaps and one dud is a pretty good average, all in all.
