Early morning shave with Victory Shaving TSC Special Edition "Ombres"

Razor: Schick Krona
Blade: Wizamet Super Iridium
Brush: Simpson Milk Churn Best Badger
Lather: Victory Shaving TSC/CEC Hombre Limited Edition
Aftershave: Fine Italian Citrus
Additional Care:
Osma Tradition Alum Block
Humphreys Maravilla
Roberts Borotalco Talcum Powder

Some mornings (or evenings) I really want to feel the blade. I'll go for the Rex Supply Envoy, or the NEW LC. Other days I just want a close comfortable shave. I've got several to choose from for that kind of shave. My EJ89lbl, Gamechanger .68, SLOC, or Tech are great for those, but lately when I've wanted a milder shave, I find myself reaching for the Krona. It's light, and smooth, but four passes gets me BBS in total comfort. It's a great razor. I used the Victory TSC soap for the first time. I love the scent, and while it doesn't quite have the residual slickness I get from Kaizen, Sego, or SV, it works plenty well enough. A great scent to be sure! I'm glad I got one. Another bit of TSC swag to go with my t-shirt and keychain. I really like it here!

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

Today, for the first time, I had a reaction to a soap. Wet The Face's The Perfect Cup.

Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Gillette Nacet Stainless
Brush: Yaqi Sagrada Familia
Lather: Wet The Face The Perfect Cup (first and last use)
Aftershave: Murray & Lanman Florida Water
Additional Care:
Osma Tradition Alum Block
Humphreys Maravilla
Roberts Borotalco Talcum Powder

I didn't get any redness or swelling, but there was a pronounced burning sensation from the lather. The second ingredient is brewed coffee, and it makes a light brown lather, and unfortunately also has actual coffee grounds sprinkled on top of the puck. That was fun cleaning up coffee grounds from my sink and brush. It smells and works great. Plenty slick and great residual slickness. But I won't be using it again, as the burning sensation sapped the joy out of the shave.

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

I get a very light warm sensation when I use CBL breakfast blend for the first time in a while. If I use it multiple days in a row it goes away. My theory is that it's the caffeine and my face just becomes accustomed to it. Its also the only soap I can remember having any kind of reaction to so I'm betting its a similar issue here. For me its not enough of an issue to stop using the soap. If the scent is good maybe you can use it as a hand soap?

The only issue I can see with using it as a hand soap is that it gets coffee grounds in the sink, but do long as I don't drip lather all over the place, that won't be a very big deal. I may try getting it out of the jar.

Bummer about the reaction.
With all the soaps I've tried over the years, I can't really complain too much about one reaction. I don't have problems with a lot of things that give other folks problems, so I'll just take it in stride.

Bummer Frank! I had to give up my CBL Breakfast Blend for the same reason...sucks...the scent was delicious!

Happy Thanksgiving Frank!

I finally tried out Razor Ruby Undead, a Halloween seasonal from First Line Shave.

Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
Brush: Simpson Trafalgar
Lather: First Line Shave Razor Ruby Undead (first use)
Aftershave: Brut Splash On
Additional Care:
Osma Tradition Alum Block
Humphreys Maravilla
Roberts Borotalco Talcum Powder

The scent can only be described (by me) as dark. It's perfect for cold weather. The performance is great, and my Simpson Trafalgar whipped up copious amounts of lather. Four passes with a GSB wielding Diamondback, and I'm BBS with no irritation. It's Black Friday, but I'm not buying anything. Looks like there are some great deals to be had though. Good luck to everyone shopping. I look forward to seeing what you got!

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

Sunday shave with good old Mitchell's Wool Fat. It did not disappoint!

Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
Brush: Simpson Chubby 2 Super Badger
Pre-Shave: Proraso Red
Lather: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Aftershave: Pinaud Clubman Reserve Cognac Neat
Additional Care:
Osma Tradition Alum Block
Humphreys Maravilla
Roberts Borotalco Talcum Powder

I went all-in on Old Spice Swagger, getting the shampoo, body wash, deodorant, and body spray - my only body spray. It's a heavier, darker scent than original Old Spice, be it vintage, Indian, or modern. I like it. I used MWF so the scent wouldn't compete, although, soap scents, in my experience, don't survive the rinsing, alum, and witch hazel. I did make use of the Pinaud Clubman Reserve Cognac Neat, but it isn't very long lasting. The Diamondback and GSB did perfect work, with two weepers that were sealed by the alum. A great shave all around.

Afternoon shave with A&E Asian Plum. This is my favorite of the A&E soaps I've tried.

Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
Brush: Simpson Milk Churn Best Badger
Lather: Ariana and Evans Asian Plum
Aftershave: Captain's Choice Nor' Easter
Additional Care:
Osma Tradition Alum Block
Humphreys Maravilla
Roberts Borotalco Talcum Powder

I have Kaizen, The Undersea, and Cuban Highball, as well as Asian Plum. I'm not crazy about Kaizen, Cuban Highball and The Undersea are good, but Asian Plum is very nice indeed. The base works the same for all of them - rich, dense lather with low structure. I'm sure if I did the 7 minute lathering routine, perhaps in a bowl, I could get a Santa Claus beard show lather, but I realized a long time ago that it doesn't take much time to get a perfectly good lather. Perfectly good. Maybe I'm missing out on cushion. I dont think there is such a thing to be honest. I want slickness and a smoothly sliding razor with great residual slickness. Sure, there was a time in my wetshaving journey, years ago, when I would whip and add water, and whip and add more water and so on, until I had enough yogurty lather for 8 passes, but I eventually came to realize that I wasn't gaining any additional performance beyond what I could get with just a couple of minutes of face lathering and tip dipping. My lathers are just fine with pretty quick work. Don't get me wrong, soaps can be very different. MWF yesterday is a very different animal from Kaizen, but I get great lathers from each, in just a couple of minutes.

The Diamondback did its spectacular job today with a third use GSB. The GSB is the older, double wrapped variety, not that I can tell a difference between that and the newer single wrapped variety. Same blade to me. As with the etched Astra's vs the older printed kind. I can't tell a difference.

I finished things off with a quiet cool alum block, a cold water rinse, Humphreys Maravilla, and some N'OrEaster and a nice brushing of Borotalco, just to make a mess. I'm feeling great!

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

Just caught up. Glad your dad is home. Hope he's coping with it okay. Sometimes the changes to thought processes can be harder on folks than physical disabilities.

He's doing okay, but yes, he's really frustrated at not being able to find the words he wants.

Almond morning with Moon Soaps Amaretto Speciale!

Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
Brush: Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Atomic Rocket
Lather: Moon Soaps Amaretto Speciale
Aftershave: Stirling Almond Creme
Additional Care:
Osma Tradition Alum Block
Humphreys Lavender Witch Hazel
Roberts Borotalco Talcum Powder

I just love Amaretto Speciale. It's so rich and almondine. A richer scent than Cella, and the lather is just as good if not better. Two days growth got mowed down without incident. Just a great shave all around.

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!
