I was surprised to see that #63 is a palm kernel oil soap. I don't think I have another soap with so much palm product in it. I do know that it's environmentally questionable

I think the palm oil thing is blown out of proportion. Not to say there were not or are not unethical practices going on. But most palm oil that is cultivated now is done so in a sustainable manner and takes into consideration Orangutan habitats. Okay...off my soap box right now.

Sounds like you had a great shave!

My old GSB sported a tea stain when I removed it, so I cleaned up the Paradigm after use, which I usually only do when I change a blade, every three or four shaves. I guess I'll have to start cleaning it after each use to keep rust away. Sort of a pain, but I want this razor to shave me for my funeral, so I'll start a new ritual.
It’s unfortunate but the Vector has been the exact same way. Something about the particular steel type and how it reacts to the AC blades and tight tolerances, etc.

I have to at least loosen up the razor to allow air flow after every shave, do my alcohol dips, and wipe it down regularly.

Totally worth it though!

That's good to know. I'm not a militant environmentalist by any stretch of the imagination, but I did give a thought to the orangutans actually. And I doubt the palm kernel oil market depends much on the sales of PdP.

I did a quick look but I couldn't find anything specifically on the PdP website. Usually products that have sustainable practices are labeled with "RSPO." I think it stands for "Roundtable of Sustainable Palm Organization," or something like that. IF you are really interested, you could always email them and ask them. Generally products will have a badge on them that say RSPO (see below) a lot like the Non-GMO or Organic tags you see. I know a "little" about this for a couple of reasons. A couple years ago I was doing research into Coconut Oil. Palm oil is similar to Coconut Oil so there was some info on that. Recently though I have been researching Baby Formula and discovered that most Baby Formula has Palm Oil in them...they also have a bunch of crap ingredients (side note here...seriously...even really good baby formulas have some awful ingredients that most people wouldn't consider good food at all). Okay...sorry again. Nothing to see here...move along! 🤪

A workmanlike undistinguished shave this morning. They can't all be blissful I guess!

Prep: Hot shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap, Proraso Red Pre-shave cream
Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (2)
Brush: Simpson Berkeley 46 Best Badger
Soap: CBL Tonsorial Bergamot and Lemon
Post-shave: Osma Tradition Alum Block, cold water rinse
After-Shave: Pinaud Clubman Brandy Spice
Talc: Borotalco

The predominant scent note of CBL Bergamot and Lemon is soap, which is fine, and sort of in keeping with my state of mind this morning. For some reason, I just couldn't get excited about shaving this morning. I've basically been in this house, with a weekly excursion to the grocery, pharmacy, and mailbox, for a long season now. I think some days it really gets to me. I've started applying for work from home jobs, which are all customer service rep jobs, but if I can earn a modest living while hiding from the virus for a while, then I can hopefully emerge from this cocoon back into the IT field when it's a bit safer. My health condition makes me high risk, so working from home is greatly preferable for the time being. Plus, I miss my cats, who stayed in Baltimore with my ex wife. It's just one of those days. Sorry to dump on you Cadre, I promise my next entry will be a brighter read. I'm pulling out the Ethos/CBL Lime, just to make sure!

Thanks for reading and sorry again! Have a great shave!

Frank

Hope things look up for you Frank. Take a drive somewhere pretty just to get out for a bit. Focus on the positives in your life like you have a Paradigm Diamondback razor 😉😎

Thanks Dave. That's good advice. I think I'll take you up on the drive actually. And I am thankful for the razor. I'll be okay.

Trust me, I get it. Each day is a new feeling and struggle. We all focus on what's wrong rather than what's good in our life. Reality is we have a lot more good going on than we give credit to, myself included. We just need to catch ourselves and remember. Hang in there ;)

Thank you, my friend.

I agree with Dave. Look at the positive side of things. Get out of the house, get some air, see some scenery. Hell, adopt a cat. They'll never replace your babies, but they're good company. I miss the hell out of mine when I'm at work. Little turds. :ROFLMAO:

Life's more fun with a dog 🤪 :cool::cool:

I love cats and dogs equally! 😑:ROFLMAO: I had an encounter with a gooooood boy earlier. The highlight of my day so far.

Thanks for venting Frank! Better out than in, in this case. Hope you can find something to keep your mind off the state of things. I often need distractions as well.

I actually took Dave's advice and went for a drive... up the road to KY. I stopped at a catfish place, got some and ate it in the car. It was good to get out of town, even if it was only for a couple of hours. When I got back, a tub of Wholly Kaw King of Oud was waiting, so I've got that lined up for the morning. So, things got better!
