I'm still backwards sleep schedule-wise. I shaved a little earlier tonight, at 2:15am. I tried out yet another CBL soap.

Prep: Hot shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap, Proraso Red Pre-shave cream
Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Brush: Semogue Boar
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (2)
Soap: CBL Premium Russian Tea (first use)
Post-shave: Osma Tradition Alum Block, cold water rinse
After-Shave: Captain's Choice Nor'Easter
Talc: Borotalco

I've really liked every CBL soap I've tried so far, and the Premium line is superb. Where it really excels is in its residual slickness. Touch ups on a wet face glided easily. The Russian Tea scent is delightful! I think I have 5 that I haven't tried yet. I got three new ones in today. Iron Throne, Sir Fougere, and Patchouli. So it'll be a fun weekend soap-wise. I've decided that I'm going to do a marathon and stay awake throughout the night and day, and will spend my time reading and playing Xbox games. I also have two episodes of Agents of SHIELD to catch up on. If I can make it to 9pm, I should be able to get to sleep and hopefully get back on a normal schedule.

It was a great four pass BBS shave today, and I'm feeling good!

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

When i'm transitioning off of night mode from work i tend to take a nap when i get off the last shift(like 3 hours max) that has me up before noon and gets me through the day. then i can normally crash out come night time.

That's a good idea. I'm going to try that because I'm probably able to sleep. I'll set my alarm.

I dig the Patchouli scent, from what I remember. My wife took my Patchouli and then had me order two more tubs. She gave me back the first empty tub yesterday ... that’s just wrong. I’ll have to grab a shave from one of her tubs.

That's what I'm going with tonight.

Sunday morning special shave!

Prep: Hot shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap, Proraso Red Pre-shave cream
Razor: Rex Supply Envoy
Blade: Personna Israeli Red (2)
Brush: Simpson Chubby 2 Super Badger
Soap: Martin de Candre Agrumes
Post-shave: Osma Tradition Alum Block, cold water rinse
After-Shave: Razorock XXX
Talc: Borotalco

I got a fitful four hours of sleep, but woke up at 6, and I'll stay awake until late tonight, so hopefully I'm bending my circadian rhythms back into civilised shape. I really like MdC, although there are properties I enjoy in other Artisan soaps that MdC lacks. It does not have the residual slickness of many other soaps, and it leaves my face feeling somewhat stripped and not quite as supple as it is left by some other soaps, but it is soft on my face, slick up front, and extremely easy to lather. It will last forever, and I'm satisfied that I'm getting good value for my money. It's my Sunday soap. The Envoy did its job, as usual, and I'm left after four leisurely passes with a BBS result. Now for a day of reading and listening to baseball talk on the satellite radio. The season starts this week, and I'm really looking forward to watching my beleaguered Orioles, even though they'll probably lose 2/3 of their games. It's still baseball, so I'm good.

Man, hope you get your sleep/wake cycles straightened out soon, brother.
Thank you! I'm instituting a full slate of measures to facilitate sleep at the right time. Everything from lavender to chamomile tea to turning down the lights and stopping screen time earlier. When I was younger, popping a single Benadryl would knock me out, but it's no longer effective. I'll get it straightened out one way or another.

I had a good night's sleep! Woke up around 7. Now, I'll just do everything I can to get to sleep at a reasonable time tonight! I tired out yet another CBL Premium today. I've never seen Game of Thrones, so I can't say that Iron Throne is a propos, but I can say that with its substantial menthol kick, Winter is here!

Prep: Hot shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap, Proraso Red Pre-shave cream
Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (2)
Brush: PAA Atomic Rocket
Soap: CBL Iron Throne (first use)
Post-shave: Osma Tradition Alum Block, cold water rinse
After-Shave: Captain Smythe's Bay Rum
Fragrance: PAA Atomic Age Bay Rum EdP

The Iron Throne experience is extreme cooling. It performs beautifully, but by the fourth pass, my face was really freezing. It's still cool, a full 20 minutes after use, with a rinse, alum, and another rinse. The Captain Smythe's doesn't have menthol, so it has to be remnants of the Iron Throne. Impressive!

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

Nice shave Frank! Iron throne is probably only second to cryogen in my den for chill factor but the chill is much longer lasting53for sure. Now I need to decide which of those gets used for my next shave!

I think I'm gonna have to steal my Iron Throne back from my compañero. I think I only used it a couple of times and I guess at the time I wasn't particularly in love with the scent. I'm glad the sleep is becoming less of an issue. I used to sleep in my closet when I was on night shift.

I got a few hours of sleep, at night, so so far so good. This morning I tried out Pre de Provence #63.

Prep: Hot shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap, Proraso Red Pre-shave cream
Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (DBL wrapped) (1)
Brush: Thater Synthetic
Soap: PdP #63 (first use)
Post-shave: Osma Tradition Alum Block, cold water rinse
After-Shave: Ethos Lime Skin Food Splash
Talc: Borotalco

I was surprised to see that #63 is a palm kernel oil soap. I don't think I have another soap with so much palm product in it. I do know that it's environmentally questionable, but I'm going to use it up. It's plenty slick, with a bit more residual slickness than MdC, my other French soap. I like the scent, which actually evolves from a light freshness, to an earthy patchouli like fragrance. I rarely catch scent evolution, so this was cool. It was easy to lather, and the scritchy Thater Synthetic loaded it with no trouble. In sum, I like it, but wouldn't rebuy. My old GSB sported a tea stain when I removed it, so I cleaned up the Paradigm after use, which I usually only do when I change a blade, every three or four shaves. I guess I'll have to start cleaning it after each use to keep rust away. Sort of a pain, but I want this razor to shave me for my funeral, so I'll start a new ritual. Three days til baseball!

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

It's easy to forget that blades, no matter the coating still stain and rust eventually. I normally just give the razor a couple of flicks to get most of the excess off and loosen the cap so what's left can hopefully dry. I've had his success with that so far.

I'll try that. I just don't want to damage the razor. It was a pretty extreme purchase, so I don't want it to degrade. Thanks for the advice!
