My shave this morning was during a thunderstorm. It was great!

Prep: Hot Shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap
Razor: Schick Krona
Blade: Personna Israeli Red (2)
Brush: WCS Silvertip
Soap: Wholly Kaw King of Oud (first use)
Post-shave: Osma Tradition Alum Block, cold water rinse
After-Shave: CC Cat O Nine Tails
Talc: Borotalco

King of Oud is a great soap! It's got a strong, rich, Woody scent that I thoroughly enjoyed throughout the four leisurely passes, as the thunder raged around me. It's plenty slick and had great residual slickness. I touched up at the end with a rewetting only. I missed a spot on my lower neck, but I'm otherwise BBS and feeling good! I felt the burn of the Cat O Nine Tails and let it dry down while I cleaned up, then finished with a cloud of Borotalco, and I'm good to go now as the thunder rolls away to the East. There's supposed to be real Baseball tonight, but rain is threatening. I may have to stay up and watch the Dodger game at 9. My beloved, beleaguered Orioles start tomorrow. That, I won't miss!

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

You guys getting rain up there? Wish we would. Even with as much rain as we got the first quarter of the year, we're starting to get into abnormally dry / early drought conditions here..

Middle Tennessee has been getting short showers for the past three days. It's been nice. We've had moderate rainfall this summer so far. I don't know how our totals compare to seasonal averages, but it's been good enough to keep things green.

Everything about today's shave was excellent!

Prep: Hot Shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap
Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (2)
Brush: @Techichi Tech Hive Synthetic (first use)
Soap: CBL Tonsorial Roasted Oatmeal Stout
Post-shave: Humphreys Maravilla (first use)
After-Shave: Ogalalla Bay Rum with Limes and Peppercorn
Talc: Borotalco

I have four synthetics now, two from PAA, a Thater, and now the Tech Hive. It was immediately apparent to me today that the Tech from @Techichi is going to be my favorite. The Thater is a bit stiff, and the PAAs are ever so slightly floppy. The Tech splits the difference, and is right in my sweet spot. It loaded from the CBL ROS, which I consider a magnificently scented and great performing soap, and gave me four full passes of rich, amber tinted lather. Man, do I love the scent of this soap. I got a bottle of Humphreys Maravilla this morning, delivered for free to the Walgreens down the street. It's a rich, potent witch hazel, and was a nice change of pace from the alum block. I prefer it to Thayer's, which is what I used for years. This stuff is a stronger, more concentrated witch hazel. It feels like an astringent. Very nice! I broke out the Ogalalla Bay Rum with Limes and Peppercorn, and it's such a fresh, tangy scent. The Talcum finished things off right, and I'm baby bottom smooth, and feeling great! I loved everything about this shave and it's started the day off just right.

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

PS. I bought a Fatboy from @Techichi yesterday. I can't wait for it to get here! That may just be the last DE I buy.

Glad you like the Hive brush, Frank! Enjoy! Fat Boy is on the way!

I returned to Zingari Man The Magician, and came to a conclusion.

Prep: Hot shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap, Proraso Red Pre-shave cream
Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (3)
Brush: Tech Hive Synthetic
Soap: Zingari Man The Magician
Post-shave: Humphreys Maravilla
After-Shave: Captain's Choice Nor'Easter
Talc: Borotalco

Conclusion: The Zingari Man Sego Base, in the water of Gallatin, TN, is the slickest soap I own. It is a top performer. The residual slickness is insane. It really is a remarkable soap. The scent of The Magician is really enjoyable too. As usual, I can't really describe it other than to say it is a fresh scent. Great shave this morning!

I'm not sure if The Soloist is in their Sego base, but that soap is very very good as well. I'm glad you found your top soap!

Agreed, Zingari Sego is a surprisingly good base [emoji106]

Seemed to come up out of nowhere too.
For me, residual slickness is pretty important since I'll buff to clean up, and with my water, the Sego Base and PAA CK-6 excel in this aspect. The water here is so drastically superior for lathering than the water in Baltimore, that I hasten to include it as a part of describing what makes a particular soap superior. MWF explodes into lather here. In Baltimore, it simply wouldn't make good lather. YMMV is absolutely the case with soaps. So my determination of the excellence of Sego is definitely a case of, "in my case."

Sunday shaves are special. The shower is longer, the equipment is favored, and the results are (almost) always fantastic.

Prep: Long, hot shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap, Proraso Red Pre-shave cream
Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Feather Hi-Stainless (1)
Brush: Simpson Chubby 2 Super Badger
Soap: PAA Atomic Age Bay Rum
Post-shave: Humphreys Maravilla
After-Shave: PAA Atomic Age Bay Rum
Talc: Borotalco
EdP: PAA Atomic Age Bay Rum

I took some time before my shower this morning to clean my razors with Dawn and a toothbrush. I got everything nice and shiny, and the Diamondback sparkled. I loaded a fresh Feather Hi-Stainless into it, uncapped the Atomic Age soap and raised it to my nose. Mmmmmm. All the Bay Rum is there, plus the complexity of the oak barrel. Of all my shaving related fragrances, Bay Rum is my favorite, and of the several Bay Rums I own, Atomic Age is the absolute tops by a clear margin. I absolutely adore this stuff. I put my Chubby 2 in my Coca Cola glass to soak, filled the sink with very warm water, and got in the shower. A good 10 minutes later, I was spic and span, and my face was fully hydrated and slathered in a small dollop of Proraso Red Pre-shave cream. As I've said before, I pretty much use this stuff because I love the smell, but I do think it keeps the moisture on my face while I make my lather, which, after exiting the shower I proceeded to do. The CK-6 base is really fantastic. A 20 second load and I applied the brush to my face. Man, I really do enjoy the Chubby feel. Firm, due to the density of the knot, but not at all scritchy. It's a lather hog, but CK-6 is up to the task, and after scrubbing, painting, dipping, and painting some more, I was ready to shave, redolent in the aroma of Atomic Age. If I want to feel the harshness of the first-use Feather blade, I'll probably be using a NEW LC, but like the AS-D2, the Diamondback tames the blade nicely. Not a hint of tugging, the blade made short work of my stubble, as I leisurely proceeded through four very smooth and comfortable nick-and-weeper free passes that left me BBS with no need to touch up or buff. The residual slickness of the soap, even after rinsing the remnants of fourth pass lather, made the smoothness check an exercise in total satisfaction. I dried off with a clean towel, and applied the Maravilla. Some complain about the scent of witch hazel, but I've always liked it, and the Maravilla seems a bit richer and more Woody than what I've used before. It tightened everything up. I let it air dry, and then applied the Atomic Age Bay Rum AS. This moment is the high point for me, as I enjoy the burn, and the pungent aroma of the fresh application. While it was drying down, I reveled in the scent as I cleaned up my countertop and sink, and put things away. Then I shook some Borotalco onto the talc brush, pounded the handle on my palm, as per @BarberDave , and enveloped my face in a cloud of talcum. All done, and I have to say it was as enjoyable a shave as I've had in a while. It's been a rollercoaster of a week, but the new week has started off exactly right!

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!
