Great shave Frank! I like to bring out my favorites today too.

Hope this week is an improvement on the last!

I took yesterday off, so this was going to be a great shave. If past experience is predictive. In this case, it was!

Prep: Hot shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap, Proraso Red Pre-shave cream
Razor: GameChanger .68
Blade: Astra SP (1)
Brush: Tech Hive Synthetic
Soap: Ethos Succes (first use)
Post-shave: Humphreys Maravilla
Aftershave: Pinaud Clubman
Talc: Borotalco

I broke out the GC .68 after a couple of months. I bought it in February and used it for a couple of weeks, then my Rex Envoy showed up, and after that, the Diamondback. Both those razors were so impressive, the GC sort of got lost in the shuffle. I had two days growth, which usually means a good shave, so the GC had an opportunity to shine. It did just that! Four comfortable passes and I'm very BBS with no irritation. I went old school with the Clubman, so I'm smelling like I got a shave at the late lamented Caesar's Palace barbershop in Baltimore, where I'd go twice a week for a shave. He always finished off with a cold towel and some Clubman. Those were the days!

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

Great entry Frank! I'm also glad to hear that you enjoyed using the ETHOS Succès. That is my favorite base on the market and the scent is absolutely wonderful!

Great shave Frank! I remember that great fresh-shaven feeling from when I used to shave every other day. So good!

Rest in peace Mo Gaba. If you've never heard of him you should Google him. He was a special kid, and I just wanted to speak his name.

Nice shave this morning. And by morning, I mean early afternoon.

Prep: Hot shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap
Razor: Schick Krona
Blade: Astra SP (1)
Brush: Simpson Berkeley 46 Best Badger
Soap: Ethos Succes
Post-shave: Humphreys Maravilla
After-Shave: Brut Splash On
Talc: Borotalco

Not much to report. Everything was great. I really enjoy the Krona, and the Astra SP works great in it. Four passes and I'm BBS without irritation. Today was the kind of shave I was hoping for when I started wet shaving. I used the Ethos Succes for the second day in a row, and it really is a fantastic soap! I went to the back of the rack and grabbed the Brut Splash On. It's great stuff!

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

I tried out a new PAA soap and Aftershave today.

Prep: Hot shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap
Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Feather Hi-Stainless (2)
Brush: PAA Atomic Rocket
Soap: PAA La Tierra Mojada (first use)
Post-shave: Humphreys Maravilla
After-Shave: PAA La Tierra Mojada (first use)
Talc: Borotalco

La Tierra Mojada is supposed to have the scent of freshly fallen rain on earth. And to be honest, the aftershave does actually give hints of that. There's a lot floral going on, but hidden inside are hints of that rain smell. I'll say that the soap delivered on its promise, and CK-6 is such a great base that I'd be happy to use it even if it was just floral. It's a good scent overall, and a great performer. Tomorrow is A&E Cuban Highball, a mojito smell in the Kaizen base. I got a four pass BBS with no irritation, as the Feather smoothes out.

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

Rain ... hm, not sure if that would be in my wheelhouse. But I do like the CK-6.
It's an interesting scent. Mostly floral, but every now and then you get a hint of rain on asphalt. I wouldn't wear it outside, but aside from groceries, I haven't been going out in months, so I'm indulging my love of Aftershaves.

Late afternoon shave before the baseball game.

Prep: Hot shower, Stirling Charcoal Facial Soap, Proraso Red Pre-shave cream
Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Feather Hi-Stainless (3)
Brush: @Techichi Tech Hive Synthetic
Soap: A&E Cuban Highball (first use)
Post-shave: Humphreys Maravilla
Aftershave: Jovan Musk
Talc: Borotalco

You may or may not recall that I tried the initial A&E Kaizen, and loved everything about it except the aroma, which reminded me of Looney Tunes toothpaste, to which I was subjected as a child. It was a very unpleasant association, and sort of ruined the experience. So I was excited to try Cuban Highball, which has the same base, but smells like mojitos, which would be a pleasant association. Off the puck, there's definitely like and mint, and a sort of butterscotch that may be the rum, or it might be the inherent smell of the Kaizen base itself. That thick sweetness does not transfer to the face. It loads quickly and makes a yogurty smooth lather that absolutely loves water. I added a lot of water, and it handled it with ease, producing a rich, wet lather on my face. It is a very slick lather, with plenty of residual slickness. I had a great four pass BBS shave with no irritation, and one small weeper on the first pass that had closed up by the fourth, and did not require the styptic. I followed with a splash of Humphreys Maravilla, which I absolutely love, because it is an effective astringent, and has a rich witch hazel smell. Yes, I love the smell of witch hazel. I also like Jovan Musk AS, which I applied and let dry down while I cleaned up. Then I did the talc, and all is well and ready to listen to the Orioles, who will probably lose. It's baseball though, so I'll take it!

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

I procrastinated today, so tonight's shave was accompanied by the Orioles game.

Prep: Hot shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap
Razor: Rex Supply Envoy
Blade: Astra SP (1)
Brush: Omega Pro 48
Soap: CBL Premium SIR Fougere (first use)
Post-shave: Humphreys Maravilla
After-Shave: Indian Old Spice
Talc: Borotalco

I really like the scent of Sir Fougere. I guess it smells like a Fougere, but I've never smelled Fougere before, so I'll take it at it's word. It's very pleasant, not too strong. The performance of the Premium base is fantastic. A 30 second load was perhaps too much. I had to add a lot of water, and came away with a lot of lather flipped around the countertop and my torso. It's plenty slick, and the residual slickness is top notch. The Envoy did its medium aggressive job, leaving me BBS after four comfortable passes with no irritation. I pulled out the Indian Old Spice, and applied with reckless abandon, since no one's smelling me but me really. It's good stuff.

I started my 5th Doc Savage novel today, and plan on making it a late night of pulp fiction adventure reading after the Orioles game is over. I might actually start watching a very strange old 60s TV show called Thunderbirds. It's an action/adventure series, but all the characters are marionettes. Very strange, but I've always liked the few episodes I've ever seen. The entire series is now on Prime, so I might take in a few episodes during a reading break later tonight. I'm still waiting on my phone mount so I can shoot my shave videos. I've been tagged for an outdoor shave and a candlelight shave. I need to find something to talk about. Maybe I'll recount my wetshaving journey, now in year 7. Months of quarantine haven't exactly filled my public speaking plate with raconteur materials.

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

Frank

PS I got a free lifetime upgrade for my Rosetta Stone language lessons, and can now do the lessons on my phone. I got an email today with an offer that's hard to refuse. $99 for lifetime access to all 27 languages. So now, I'm torn between getting the Vector later this month, or putting that off for a month and getting the language lessons. Around here, there are really only two languages spoken, English and Spanish. But I always wanted to learn multiple languages, so I'm tempted.
