A great, peaceful, relaxing Sunday morning shave.

Prep: Hot Shower, Stirling Charcoal Facial Soap, Proraso Red Pre-shave cream
Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Feather Hi-Stainless (1)
Soap: Martin de Candre Original
Brush: Simpson Chubby 2 Super
Post-shave: Osma Tradition Alum Block, cold water rinse
After-Shave: Proraso Red Aftershave Lotion

I tried out the Feather blade in the Diamondback today, and I was not disappointed! It was smoother in the Diamondback than in most other razors I own, but plenty sharp. The fourth pass was barely necessary. I went with Proraso Red Aftershave Lotion, because I love it, and because it's almost done and I need to make room for the Ethos Skin Food AS that's incoming. I have a big Barbershop sized bottle of the Red waiting to go.

I finished up making the videos of my former Step-Father-in-law's songs yesterday for posting on YouTube. They're nothing fancy - an introductory title screen and then a picture of him that displays while the song plays. There are 26 of them, and I'll post a couple of the ones I like so you can check them out. He's 78, and is a child of the Rockabilly era. He's very young at heart, but in the past few years, his body has begun to betray him. He has Parkinson's, and although he can still play guitar, those days are numbered. He really wants to get his music up on YouTube, so I am happy to help out. The dissolution of my marriage was friendly, thank goodness, and I've been fortunate to stay connected with him and his wife.

Thanks for reading, and have a great shave!

@fhalden So you've enabled me and I'm wanting to get one of these DB's if they make more. How much was it new? In case I see a sale on a BST (unikely) so I can gauge how much is fair to pay........

$240 and worth every penny. I think @fhalden will agree.
Thanks Glenn, I was able to google it an find finally. Their site drops the price when it goes to SOLD OUT. IF I happen to see one on secondary market, I'm not wanting to pay a premium for a used razor as he is supposed to be making more and I can wait if need be.

Yep. I see you are active in that DFS thread so you know the skinny. All things come to he who waits. Sorry Frank for using up your bandwith.

Yes, it was $240 and I'm very happy with it. I've never had another razor with such a comfortable, efficient, well balanced design. I really have nothing but good things to say about it.

Thanks Frank, some day I'll join y'all perhaps

Today I tried out Gillette Pure Shaving Cream.

Prep: Hot shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap, Proraso Red Pre-shave cream
Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Feather Hi-Stainless (2)
Cream: Gillette Pure
Brush: Parker Long Loft Badger
Post-shave: Osma Tradition Alum Block, cold water rinse
After-Shave: Fine American Blend

I picked up a tube of Pure yesterday for $5, and I had a $5 coupon, so it was basically a free tube. I decided to use my scuttle to maximize the strength of the scent, which I can only describe as light, clean, cans fresh. Maybe there's some citrus in it. I'm no good at identifying fragrance notes. It was pleasant and not very strong. None persisted after the final rinse. A little went a long way, as it exploded into a good, but not overly rich lather. My almond-sized dollop gave me plenty for four passes. It was slick, though not as slick as I get with Stirling or CK-6, but it was more than decent. There was enough residual slickness to make a lather-free touch up effortless. All in all, I was very pleased with it, and it'll be on my short list for days when I'm in a hurry and need to whip up a lather in no time.

The Diamondback rendered my stubble helpless with the second use Feather smoothness right on schedule. A four pass BBS. Now for a day of studying.

Thanks for reading, and have a great shave!

I got a haircut!!

Prep: Hot Shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap, Proraso Red Pre-shave cream
Razor: Rex Supply Envoy
Blade: Personna Israeli Red (1)
Brush: Omega Pro 48
Soap: PAA Atomic Age Bay Rum CK-6
Post-shave: Osma Tradition Alum Block, cold water rinse
After-Shave: PAA Atomic Age Bay Rum

So I decided to go ahead and check out my barber's procedures and decide if I was comfortable going ahead and getting a haircut. I'm in the high-risk category, as is my mother, so we're still staying put, having only left the house for groceries and to pick up and send mail. The barbershop, this is a small Tennessee town, doesn't have, or rather didn't have a web presence. They usually open at 8, so that's when I got there. I found them open, but with a sign on the door saying they were appointment only and to use their website to make the appointment. So I pulled out my phone and did so. The next available time was three hours later, so I went home, had a nice long hot shower and shaved. Today I pulled out the Rex Supply Envoy, which I got in Feb, and used exclusively for the month of March. It was great to be reminded how great this razor is. Only my Paradigm Diamondback gives a more comfortable shave, and it's a really close contest. The Envoy has more blade feel, but both are very smooth and efficient. I'm pretty much done acquiring razors at this point. Soaps and Aftershaves, well, we'll see. I have pretty much run out of room for more. It was a great four pass BBS without any irritation, and was a real pleasure in terms of scent. I love Atomic Age, and went full out with the soap, Deodorant, Aftershave, and EdT. Ahoy!

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

P.S. I look forward to seeing and hearing everyone tomorrow evening. I'll be connecting via cellphone hybrid, with audio via a cell call, and video via the net, also on my phone. It'll be one of those technological Marvel's like Nurse Dave talked about in his video. See everyone then!

Nice read! I got my first haircut in 3 months last week and I felt like a brand new man. I'm glad you were able to get an appointment!

Glad you were able to get a clean up appointment! That would be a mighty good feeling after so long!

I get an uninteresting haircut. A taper with a #3 on the sides and back, and leave 1" on top. It feels great though!
