What scent CBL did you send Dave? I'm pairing some things down and if have the tub, it could find it's way to Frank.
He sent me CBL 3 Pines, which I'm going to try out tomorrow. I love the scent of evergreens. I was pretty distraught when Captain's Choice discontinued North. I'm very excited to try this out!

Thanks Frank. Gave that one away already, sorry to trouble you and hope you like it.

Tonight, I continued to try some of the many new things I bought back in March. New soap, new blade. An old discontinued favorite AS I rarely use because I have 1/2 bottle left, and when it's gone, it's gone.

Prep: Hot shower, Stirling Charcoal Facial Soap, Proraso Red Pre-shave cream
Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Gillette Nacet (1)
Brush: Thater Synthetic
Soap: Mystic Water Barbershop (first use)
Post-shave: Osma Tradition Alum Block, cold water rinse
After-Shave: Captain's Choice North

Tonight I tried Mystic Water Barbershop. I also have Stirling Barbershop, and they are not the same. As I've written in the past, I am unable to really describe, or even discern individual notes in a scent, and can really only relate them to other scents, and often things I think smell similar, other people smell as very different. Brut and Clubman are similar to me, although they dry down differently. But the category of Barbershop is interesting to me. To my mind, Barbershop means one of two scents, Yellow Clubman, or VIBR, and that's because that's what my barber would use on me when I was a kid. Mystic Water is powdery to me, like the Johnson & Johnson talcum smell. Tonight I tried a Nacet in the Diamondback, and it is a very good blade. Very smooth, no tugging. But I haven't had a bad blade in the Diamondback. This was another four pass BBS without irritation. I finished with a splash of North, which, if I could find another bottle I'd try to grab it. So I used it sparingly, and rarely. It was a very satisfying shave and I feel great!

Thanks for reading, and have a great shave

SOTD Special Sunday

Prep: Hot shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap, Cella Pre-shave gel
Razor: Karve Brass OC B Plate
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (double wrapped)
Brush: Simpson Chubby 2 Super
Soap: Martin de Candre Agrumes
Post-shave: Osma Tradition Alum Block, cold water rinse
After-Shave: Ogalalla Bay Rum

My second go round with the Karve, this time with a GSB. It did a great job with no irritation. Once again, I used the Chubby, being careful not to twist, but paint. The MdC lathers up just fine with this method, and it loves water. I like my lathers a little thin and wet, and I'm finding that painting only works well. If I'm in the mood for a good scrubbing, I'll use my Omega Pro. All in all, a great, relaxing four pass BBS, with just a little irritation on my lower neck.

Thanks for reading and have a great shave!

A mid-afternoon shave with a new to me soap that I really like!

Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Foaming Face Cleanser, Proraso Red
Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (2)
Brush: PAA Atomic Rocket
Soap: Mystic Water Bergamot, Cedar, & Juniper (first use)
Post-shave: Osma Tradition Alum Block, cold water rinse
After-Shave: Indian Old Spice

This is the third Mystic Water soap I've tried and I think it's my favorite so far. I have one left to try, Jeff's Lavender, and I do love lavender, so we'll see. I'm really happy with her soaps - easy loading, a very soft face feel, and it leaves my face feeling soft and moisturized. Good residual slickness for touchups too. I'm very happy with my purchase. I also tried out Neutrogena Foaming Face Cleanser today. I had a $5 coupon for CVS, so I figured I'd give it a try. It is indeed foaming, and is designed for makeup removal. It rinses very clean and I like the mild scent. It's not going to replace Musgo Real Lime, but it's there for variety I guess. The shave was great, although the blade skipped on my neck and left a line of irritation. As I'm getting older, my skin down there is getting looser, and I really have to watch the pressure or the skin folds up in front of the razor. It's just a part of getting older I guess. If I just touch the razor to the skin and nothing more, I can still glide, but today I was pressing and I paid for it. I whipped out the Indian Old Spice, and slathered it on. I love this stuff! So it's a four pass BBS, with only the blade skip for irritation. I'm feeling good!

Thanks for reading, and have a great shave!

I held off til late to let my neck rest a bit and ended up with a great shave.

Prep: Hot shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap, Proraso Red Pre-shave cream
Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (3)
Brush: Semogue Boar
Soap: Zingari Man The Wanderer Sego Base
Post-shave: Osma Tradition Alum Block, cold water rinse
After-Shave: Proraso Green Lotion

World events kind of have me down, so I'll just say that I love The Wanderer, and the shave was the high point of the day and made me feel much better.

Thanks, and have a great shave!

A middle of the night shave.

Prep: Hot shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap, Proraso Red Pre-shave cream
Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Derby Premium (1)
Brush: Omega Pro 48
Soap: Stirling Sandalwood (first use)
Post-shave: Osma Tradition Alum Block, cold water rinse
After-Shave: Ogalalla Bay Rum with Limes and Peppercorn

Tonight was my first try of a Derby Premium. The Derby Green is the only blade I've used that I found unacceptable in it's lack of sharpness, so I was wondering what the Premium would do. In short, it did great! Plenty sharp and very smooth in the Diamondback. I'm not crazy about the packaging, with the plastic case, but then again, I'm not *crazy* about the packaging, as it's a very small bit of plastic that will spend eternity in the Gallatin, TN landfill. This blade, and the Feathers, are the only blades I own that come this way. I look forward to trying this blade out in my other main razors, but I find that I keep reaching for the Diamondback, day after day, so it may be a while before this happens. I fell asleep listening to the radio tonight and woke up around 1. I may be up all night, but if so, at least I'm clean, and I've had a refreshing shave. A four pass BBS! My soap tonight was Stirling Sandalwood, and although I love the performance, I'm disappointed in the strength of the scent. It's very faint, and although it's definitely sandalwood I'm smelling, the lather itself is almost scentless. I like Proraso Red, which sort of smells like sandalwood, but Stirling performs better. I also like TOBS Sandalwood, which smells nothing like sandalwood. I've got some sandalwood essential oil, which, because sandalwood oil is insanely expensive, is diluted 10:1 in almond oil. Even then, I get a nice assertive scent from my EO diffuser. I'm going to fire it up tonight just because I was excited to try the Stirling, but unhappy with the lack of scent strength. The shave itself was great though. Now, I'm off to read the pilots guide for a game called Elite: Dangerous, which portends to be the most detailed, extensive game I've ever encountered.

Thanks for reading, and have a great shave!

Awesome shave! I know the scent wasn't as strong for you as you would have liked...but awesome shave nonetheless! I am a sandalwood guy myself. Sadly I have gotten away from the scent a bit...but I love it. I guess my problem is that I have not had an aftershave in a while that really has spoken to me. My favorite sandalwood scent is the Art of Shaving sandalwood. But I am not paying the big bucks for it. Fine Accouterments has a version that is very similar that I like a lot also. But as far as Sandalwood soap goes. The Old Tallow Version of The Art of Shaving Sandalwood is my faves!

Nice TSC Swag!
