It was very good. I'm a diabetic, and was happy to learn that my blood sugar labs came back great! Thank you!

Great news!! I'm in the same boat and constantly fighting with mine.

Today I tried Scots Pine Sheep from Stirling.

Prep: Hot shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap, Proraso Red Pre-shave cream
Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Astra SP (2)
Soap: Stirling Scots Pine Sheep (first use)
Brush: Omega Pro 48
Post-shave: Osma Tradition Alum Block, cold water rinse
After-Shave: Pinaud Virgin Islands Bay Rum

I have to admit, I was excited to try Scots Pine Sheep, because I love the scent of pine, but I found this scent pretty underwhelming. The inherent smell of soap was as strong as the fragrance. It loaded up easily and performed very well, like other Stirling soaps, but I was hoping for more piney goodness. I think it'll probably go into my Fall/Winter lineup. I did my part to break in the Omega 48. It's a big brush! I had forgotten how big it is, but it's a great deal in a brush. It was my first brush, and I'm happy to have one again. I finished off with VIBR, which is what my old barber would use, so it really took me back!

Thanks for reading, and have a great shave!

Sorry the soap was a bit disappointing. You looking for, like, pine tree air freshener strength?
I don't know if I want it that strong. I don't want it to linger and stay in my brushes. Just a bit more forward. I'm also feeling like a coniferous scent would be more enjoyable in cold weather, so I'm in no hurry. I went on a spree in March, so I still have a few new scents to try out.

Have you tried Stirling Christmas Eve?
No, I haven't! Its a seasonal I guess since it doesn't seem to be available right now. I do see "Coniferous." I might give that a try.

A very nice shave today, with a couple of new Stirling products.

Prep: Hot shower, Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap, Cella Pre-shave gel
Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Astra SP (3)
Soap: Stirling Executive Man (first use)
Brush: Simpson Berkeley
Post-shave: Osma Tradition Alum Block, cold water rinse

I like Executive Man. Very clean, light scent that I enjoyed throughout the four passes. I reloaded the brush after the second pass. I'm trying to strictly adhere to the "painting strokes only" recommendation of Simpson, and it does work. I don't get mounds of lather on my face, but adding just a bit of water gave me plenty of coverage and wet slickness. Slickness is mainly what I'm looking for. I've never really been much of a cushion guy, I guess. I finished off with Stirling Island Man AS, which I guess is a seaside scent. I'm lousy at identifying scents in a profile, but I sure do enjoy them. I cleaned up, no sting from the alum, and I'm fresh and ready to go, even though there's nowhere to go!

Then I sat down and enjoyed Nurse Dave's shave video. Sorry about your neck Dave!

Thanks for reading, and have a great shave!

Using the Simpson by the book hm? Not sure how I feel about such precautions yet, if the company is trying to limit liability/returns should something happen or if it truly is the best way...

I know what you mean. I'm giving it a shot to see if I can actually build a lather this way. It's different, but I've been satisfied so far. I still scrub away with my $14 synthetics though.

Today I switched things up.

Prep: Hot shower, Kiehl's Facial Fuel, Proraso Red
Razor: Karve B plate OC (first use)
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (1)
Soap: PAA Mega Flora CK-6
Brush: PAA Starcraft
Post-shave: Osma Tradition Alum Block, cold water rinse
After-Shave: Brut Splash On (first use)

I went ahead and inaugurated my brass Karve B plate OC today after having it for two months. I had intended to replate it, but getting laid off put a crimp in those plans. So now I'll use it, and do the complete disassembly and cleaning after use, to promote an attractive patina. I usually give my razors a cleaning with Scrubbing Bubbles monthly, but I'll take special care with this one. So, it's a very different shave from the Diamondback I've been using every day this month up til now. It was a little tricky to get the angle right, and occasionally I'd get the OC lather trails to prompt me to adjust. Another difference was the sound. Where with the Paradigm and the Envoy, I get the full, knife on toast sound, with the Karve, I get ringing, which leads me to think that perhaps the blade isn't as rigid in the Karve as it is in the Paradigm. I've noted a similar difference in the NEW LC vs. the NEW SC. The SC really clamps down on the blade and I get the full sound, while the LC rings. As to the preferability of one over the other, I guess I prefer the stronger clamping. I know there's a school of thought that blade rigidity is crucial, and that a strong clamping, or for another example, a slant, prevents blade resonance and skipping. This seems plausible to me, although I've gotten great shaves from all four razors, so to my mind, the importance of blade clamping pales in comparison to a well-developed general technique. At any rate, I got a great shave with the Karve today and aside from the required daily cleaning and drying, I really like it. I finished up with my first use of Brut today as well, and although I did say in another thread that it reminded me of Clubman, which provoked at least one incredulous reaction, actually applying it does demonstrate that it's different, but I do get some similarity. I don't have the ability to discern individual fragrance notes, I notice the change as it dries down, and I do recognize broad categories like citrus, leather, and floral, but my nose is nowhere near as well-developed as some people's. I just enjoy exploring a wide variety of scents in my soaps and Aftershaves, and at long last, Brut has joined my collection. It's very nice!

I've got to make a pharmacy run for my mother, and then I'm going to spend the afternoon playing with the Xbox. And I'll get to do it feeling clean, well-shaved, and fresh.

Thanks for reading, and have a great shave!

Xbox! What’s your poison there?
I play Minecraft, Madden, a combat flight sim which name escapes me, and I just started Red Dead Redemption 2. To be honest, I use it more for streaming and Blu Ray more than for gaming.
