goodmorning gents.quick work shave.
20221108_104745_edited.jpg
usual face prep.nice timberyard face lather with the custom 10098 omega boar.
smooth 2 passer with the k-1 brit made canadian flare tip/kcg blade.l'oreal cedarwood balm and a splash of nivea deep to finish.awesome.
i have to say,out of all the regular flare tips i have except the red tip, this one is the most efficient.i have a couple of these as they are canadian market and are commonly found up here in antique shops and flea markets.the plating is thinner than older models but still nice enough.this razor has the thin profile head that's seen on the later black handled flare tip well into the 70's.
have a great day everyone.

good morning gents.another quick work shave..20221109_182827_edited.jpg

felt like a change and pulled out one of my few non gillette razors.when i converted from cart razors in 2016 i collected gem type, injectors and other DE razors as well as gillette stuff, but it soon became apparent that i would spend thousands and fill a room.crossroads..i decided to commit to brit gillettes and move the rest on..cooper,schick,eveready,gem,autostrop all got passed as well as many u.s and canadian gillettes.i kept 1 schick, the "66",and 2 british valet gc3 and a small handful of u.s and canadian gillettes, the rest are brits.it was a load off the shoulders..it made my hobby more enjoyable and focused.eventually i'll be down to a dozen or so daily drivers.i did "one" razor minimalist cart shaving for 35 years so i won't go that far again ..;)
the shave..
usual prep with the imperial leather handsoap.loaded the damp ever-ready badger and got a fine dg face lather.creamy and slick.smooth 2 passer with the schick "66" with the schick blade, who knows how many shaves on it,but it felt fine.matching splash to finish.awesome.
cool little razor the 66,g type.1949 approx made for 2 or so years.i had e types and hydromatics and was trying for the elusive f type then asked myself why?..they remind me of cart razors..off they went.i kept the 66 because of the blue handle..:D
in all fairness i am glad that i kept it,little blade choice, the fact that the blade is stuck in the razor untill replacement, and other niggling issues remind me why they aren't my favorite, but they are a well deserved iconic part of shaving history..
have a fine day everyone.

good day gents.Remembrance Day shave..
20221110_091040_edited.jpg
warm water prep, fine vintage williams tonsorial face lather with the rubberset 200-3.weighted and restored.omega pro knot.
smooth 2 passer with the brit service issue razor/platinum blade.the h & h 375 mag handle was made by a friend.well balanced.
clubman reserve whiskey woods to finish.awesome.
every year i have a shave or 2 to remember my grandad, who served with the R.A.F in Burma during WW2..He was a Gillette man from day 1 in the mid 1930s until he passed in the early 2000's.hence my love for british gillettes. While the last razor i saw him use was a white handled slim twist in 1980 i can imagine many others he used before hand and i've tried to collect what was available from wartime onwards.:)

have a fine day everyone.

good morning gents..rare saturday off shave..:)

pears blue soap for face prep today, very nice.fabulous face lather with the shave stick mix-palmolive,boots and wilkinson.the lathe turned custom omega 10098 is a treat to use.the 1950 ish brit fh tech/nacet combo delivered a fine bbs in 2 smooth passes across the grain, with minor pick ups in the usual spots.nivea blue a/s completes the scene.awesome.
this is Gillette England's standard post war design tech, first seen around 1949-50 ish,in various case/sets.this set is a #27.no etched gillette logo or frosting on the cap.this could also be a french market set as i did acquire it from a seller in france.french sets had "made in england" razors until 1953 or so.this is also the set i scored my hollow fat wall tech handle in,though i am not sure if it was correct or swapped in over it's lifetime.either way ,the handle was the jewel i was after, and it now firmly resides with my tech hybrid.;)
thank you all for following my rambles..:D
have a great weekend everyone.

good morning gents.fabulous sunday shave.
20221112_095719_edited_edited.jpg
lovely black watch lather built with the opal badger,1st application followed with a hot towel soak.very nice.
reapplied and a smooth 2 passer ensued with the brit new rfb/platinum combo, minor pick ups as per usual.
cold water rinse and matching splash to finish.awesome.great post shave ..:)
really enjoying the seaforth products so far,may have to try the balm.they feel top shelf-classy labeling, great performance and scent quality/strength.not trying to be the best out there like some artisans but achieving greatness at the same time.i hope these products stick around and not become part of the "queens corgi fat/wombat milk soap base wars"..
have a fine sunday everyone.

Fantastic shave! and I agree - Spearhead/Seaforth has been a wonderful addition to the shaving community - plus the artisan is such a great guy. Glad that he revived these classics!

good day gents-monday leather shave

fine leather/juniper spitfire lather built with the custom badger brush.a friend built the handle from ever-ready/rubberset parts, filled and weighted, and topped off with a finest badger knot.lovely to use.
smooth 2 passer with the brit fb tech/nacet combo.minor pick ups as per the norm.thayer's astringent and burberry brit rhythm edt to finish.classy leather scent.awesome.
this 1946 ish #25 set was acquired from a former gillette collector from across the pond.he liquidated his collection to venture into modern stainless razors.i was fortunate to receive many fine sets from his cool collection.this one showed no signs of actual use when i received it,though the cellaphane was removed from the head and handle.the blades are still sealed.
20221114_095401_edited.jpg
i use it occasionally as i use all my razors..i have 1 NOS set left to break in..a future presentation here maybe?..;)
have a fine rest of the day everyone.

thank you.:)now if only someone would get the original recipy old spice soap, yardley,,;).i know there are dupes already but...
I would love to spend $200,000 on figuring out how to copy Yardley if someone wants to give me some money. :D

Do you often use Yardley? It's one of my go to soaps!

i unfortunately have never tried it but heard great things about it.would love to find a yardley black puck.i haven't invested big $$ in vintage soaps so far, just 1 good deal on 3 pucks of canadian williams tonsorial.same goes for vintage aftershaves due to shipping restrictions.all i have is a full 1960's vintage canadian market old spice a/s.one gets an occasional nugget up here in the north.;)

I love the look of your brush. Very striking appearance. (y)
