slick mogno lather built with the soc boar,smooth 2 passer in the usual manner.lea aftershave to finish.awesome.
my favorite razor type,smooth and efficient with most any gillette blade and others.works well as a daily or with longer whisker growth.i like it as is or with a heavier handle as well..

I have the shave soap and it's fantastic! Nice marine / woods fragrance. Great lather.
I think this stuff might be my Christmas treat to myself.

yes i know crap pic.but great shave.that's all that counts.super slick tobs platinum lather,best of the tobs line imo.different base compared to the usual suspects.smooth 2 passer with the '39 baby 'crat.thayers and burberry to finish.awesome.
the u.s got the senator/sheraton.this is the brit version,called the Popular.i've had all 3.i kept this one,passed the senator and sheraton along..
it wasn't ever called an aristocrat jr but this model what started the line.the OC aristocrat was beyond reach for most but this was available to the businessman. And he got a great shaver.production stopped after 1940 with a black handled model when the war was gearing up.2-3 year run.1938-40.not seen again until 1948,but with safety bars,.
my razor has the 400621 baseplate,later ones got the 430030 baseplate.the difference? not sure.the 1936-38 aristocrats had the same number on the baseplate also.these razors are hard to find in good shape.especially being they were different looking every year they were made,1938 senator type knurling,1939 barberpole knurling ,1940 black coated barberpole handle/430030 baseplate..a gold plate version also.cases and set numbers varied.

lovely rich and slick nobleman lather built with the simpson sunspot LE synthetic.
usual face prep with imperial leather soap-wish i had the shave soap..awesome scent.
smooth 2 passer with the 'crat jr/platinum combo.slightly head heavy.whiskers be gone.
thayers and mr.burberry complete the scene.awesome.
the first gen(second really imo) aristocrat jr is a bit of an odd duck.if you like the u.s superspeed design this one is the ultimate.the u.s started out with the ranger tech in 1940,based on the senator /sheraton but with safety bars instead of OC.The first Superspeed came in 1947.
normally,gillette england like to do things their own way,but they collaborated with the u.s to combine a razor model or 2,hence this razor,most likely due to lack of tooling. combining a superspeed handle mechanism with modified brit flat baseplates the 'crat jr was born.
it only lasted one year before england had their rocket design up and running.interestingly ,the u.s also built a rocket version also,but with a u.s
superspeed type baseplate.
the 3rd gen aristocrat jr is very similar to the u.s rocket.,albeit the hollow twist knob.the british made version saw the light after 1951 also.but wait,there's more..the 2nd gen is another flat plate brit design but with it's new handle mechanism,fondly dubbed the rocket design by some.made around 1949.this model was also sent on to canada and sold in rocket cases,as canada didn't ever produce a tto model razor.also present is the new center bar for speed loading blades from new plastic/metal blade dispensers.
after 1950 everyone had the standard u.s design tooling and the rest is history...

usual face prep.
smooth 2 passer with the rocket/platinum combo.

this fine razor is packaged in a canadian rocket set,said to be an early example as the diamond stamped u.s baseplate versions weren't available yet.case says made in canada,razor made in england.later canadian rockets got black tip style cases and modified u.s superspeed razors.no "made in" under the baseplate.
england saw these as either a #51 1 piece set or a #53 aristocrat jr set.razor is the same in all 3 sets.gold versions and aluminum versions also.
the 4th gen version of this razor has the standard u.s stamped baseplate but with the rocket type endcaps.
unfortunately my example of the 4th gen version is currently damaged beyond easy repair due to a bad drop-broken center bar rod.needless to say, but my later model parat/rocket shaves the same.,so i won't bother to replace it.

good morning gents.fine shave with a favorite razor.
lovely fern lather built with the yaqi ruby badger.not used this soap for ages.nice stuff.usual face prep.
smooth 2 passer with the brit tech hybrid/platinum combo.i like this razor with the heavier french tech fat handle.
matching splash to finish.awesome.
this razor was acquired a few years ago missing it's original handle and it's zip up case in poor to fair shape.after some thought i acquired a mismatched 1950 french tech set and robbed it of it's jewel,the hollow fat handle.heavier thick wall and one piece,not thin wall tubing with a pressed in collar like normal fat handles.a spare #44 new rfb case completes it.
the factory rhodium plating is hanging on but going a bit thin on the safety bars.it's seen a few miles.replate? doubtful.i have access to a mint complete set but it's too nice to use,so it can stay put for now.
while my set isn't the concours example worth hundreds of $$ it's shave is excellent,just like it's older new rfb brother.

good morning gents..fine saturday morning shave in the books.first saturday off work in ages,so i went full out.
warm face wash with the imperial leather soap,then a hot towel or 2.great on a chilly morning.
slick creamy sandalmot lather built with the restored and weighted Ever-ready 100 badger..
smooth 2 passer across the grain with a minor pick up or 2 with the rhodium rocket/platinum combo.
thayers and st.james fragrance to finish.awesome.
this razor is what i believe to be gillette england's last stand alone non adjustable that got some love.built in 1960-2 it had the U.S design TV Special type knurling with rocket mechanicals and was plated in rhodium,and a nice leather traveller case./set
while i don't have the full set,i at least have the business part-the razor..
.even the #70 brit aristocrat of this era was only nickel plated.gillette was pouring it's efforts into the adjustables at this point with the gold Executive Fat Boy and gold Slim Aristocrat.So this set was the last hurrah in the rocket world imo.like the Ford Falcon after the Mustang debuted..beyond this they got cheaper,thin plating and in the end that ghastly black aluminum handle around 1966.end of an era gents,the golden era of gillette's all brass non adjustables..
