Modern Williams never gives me pretty lather but that layer of slickness next to the skin makes for a great shave. As a matter of fact, all my lathers look terrible but shave well.

I am just over a month into my 2nd (and last) puck of modern Williams. Decided not to do any special prep (e.g. presoaking, grating...) and simply just dribble some water on it to soak in while I showered. After a few days, the puck became malleable and loading was much easier and quicker. Latherwise, it is as slick as ever, but dissipation is a hit and miss thing, so it seems as if the water-soap ratio is fairly tight for my household water,.
That stuff sure loves to absorb water!

Yes, daily use rather than a "forced hydration" via submersion seems a much better way to go.
Sending Williams makes no sense. Shipping is a killer for such an inexpensive soap that is easily found locally.

6 weeks in on my last puck of modern Williams. This puck was used as-is, no pre-soaking for days, no grating, no anything except a dribble of water before loading. The last two weeks have been with my Chubby 2, synth and it has made a noticeable difference in lather quality over my Asylum Cheswick synth. I think this might come down to being as simple as the age-old mantra of "use more product."
Modern Williams is no longer in my "yucky stuff" category but is now an acceptable shave soap.

I always get better Williams results with badger over synth, for just that reason.
I w,ish I could source it here locally you would think a city of almost 1.5 mil, and someone would carry it, LOL
