Modern Williams

Dear Mr. Modern Williams,

I have to say that this last puck ended up being a much different experience than I have had over the past number of years. Way back when, before I knew shaving was more than just shaving and forums, websites and loads of products existing, I used you and the Wilkinson Sword bowls with the cheapie drugstore Wilkie brush. Sloppy goop that worked well enough with my old Sensor and Weishi (and superspeed from my teens) but shaving was a morning chore.

Even when I became shaving-world enlightened, I struggled using you, Mr. Modern Williams, whether it be with badger, boar or horse and whether I pre-soaked/saturated you or grated you. You provided poor lather that was slick, but dissipated.

Now I've figure you out. No special pre-treatment, just load you heavily as is and away you go. I really think the issue was one of lading. I loaded to visually have the same amount of proto-lather as other products and then started face/bowl-lathering. Needless to say, you are more than affordable, so it is not like I am using $1/shave worth of product.

Thanks to the last 2 months, I have learned that you are not a sucky soap at all, but a pretty serviceable one at that and quite affordable.

Maybe we'll cross paths again somewhere down the road, but I promise, next time I won't cross the street or pretend to admire someone's garden so I don't have to look at you when we pass each other.

Be seeing ya!

The "Special Pre-Treatment" that many do (and I recommend myself), is only really and effort to load heavily, without a lot of extra effort. By pre-soaking the puck, you get the same heavy loading but in the usual loading experience we are used to. Just different methods to the same result. Glad you figured it out.

Sam, you have inspired me to find and try modern Williams. I used to see it everywhere but now it’s hard to find locally. I am on the hunt...

I'm sure there are lots of other places to get it, but here are the places that the Williams website says you can find it:

Wegmans
HyVee
Walmart
Walgreens
SuperValue
Fred's Pharmacy

But I know many folks have said their Walmart doesn't carry it anymore, so this may not be accurate.

My local grocery store is not listed, and I can still find it there.

I know Ingles grocery stores carry it also $ 1.29
I think wallgreens would probably be the best place for those having a hard time finding it ( @BarberDave. ) it's 1.49 with free ship to store......

Alright i was stirring the pot LOL. I actually have never thrown away soap. I have given it away or used it in the shower.

Modern Williams I always see at Winco, and when travelling to Upstate New York I see it at Wegmans.
