Modern Williams

I've moved back to modern Williams. using it in my Tabac stick tube, , now that my CBL Tonsorial samples are done. It lathered up GREAT with my Yaqi Sangra synth yesterday and I was mind-blown with some great lather!

... at least, I was.... until I neared the end of my first pass and it had dried up. Added more water to the brush for pass-2 for some great lather again!..... agin until near the end of the pass. Whazzupwitdat? Switched over to my Graydog silvertip today (Omega Mighty Midget silvertip knot) and had much the same experience. Lather is creamy and feels great, but simply dries out mid-pass. *ugh*

What I can say is good about it is that it is slick when I am rinsing off post-shave.

All I can offer in terms of advice is to add more water than you think you should...then add a little more. Maybe break out the kitchen blender with whisk attachment.

My brush is sogged when face lathering, with water running if I splay any little bit at all. I think I need to use less soap to try to get a better balance.... but I don't WANT to use less soap, I want this soap to get used up ASAP. Talk about dilemmas! 🤪

More soap and more water! That’s why I like to soak my pucks. Allows me to load a lot of soap quickly.

Since my Williams was the super-staurated puck, it probably already has enough water in it to be a croap. Very easy to apply to my face from the Tabac stick tube... probably too easy. 🤪 Cut back on what I have been scrubbing onto my morning whiskers and it worked better but still isn't something that I would rate as "rebuy"

Once you get it dialed in, hopefully you’ll get more of the same!

Bowl lathered this morning and it went on great!

... until I got to my neck, by which time it was drying out. 2nd pass went on great again (so it doesn't appear to be a water thingy) and dried out again near the end of my shave. Grrrrr

Dear mudurn Williams,

I was wrong. You CAN produce a great lather ... but the amount of time it took in loading my Chubby 2 synth as well as how long I spent lathering in my Timeless bowl (lost track of time due to having a cold) makes it dubious that I will be able to do this on workday mornings.

Sincerely,
woodpusher

.. but the amount of time it took in loading my Chubby 2 synth.....
For the most part, I use brushes interchangeably with soaps, i.e. it doesn’t matter which I choose..... with a couple of exceptions. For some reason CBL lathers better for me with a synth, and Modern Williams lathers better for me with a badger! I don’t know why, it just does. Probably the coarser bristles pick up more soap in a quicker amount of time, making the chore of Williams, not so bad.
