Hello everyone! Hope you had a pleasant evening.

It's "Women of Rock Wednesday" and today I'm going with a couple from an artist I only just discovered Monday, Boston-based Cinematic Dark-Pop artist, Llynks. Hope you enjoy.



Another phenomenal shave this morning. Returned to ETHOS Grooming Essentials and Frank's excellent "Fiore d'arancio e Neroli" shave soap. Wonderful scent! When I first opened the tub and smelled the soap for the first time, I immediately thought of 4711 (one of my all-time favorite frags). An incredibly thick and slick lather, built with the Paladin badger brush for three passes with the Karve Christopher Bradley razor and I finished with alum along with Thayers unscented witch hazel, followed by Muelhens 4711 aftershave splash and Dana "English Leather" EdC.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Warm for the next few days with temps approaching 80°. Band practice later on this evening. Looking forward to that!

Hello everyone! Hope you had a pleasant evening.

At practice last night our new drummer turned me on to this group. Had never heard of them before. They're a great Jazz Fusion band from Japan called Casiopea. Hope you enjoy.



Wonderful shave this morning. Returned to Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements and their excellent Williams Aqua Velva homage, "Sacré Bleu" shave soap. Wonderful scent with an incredibly thick and slick lather, built with the Rich Yuengel badger brush for three passes with the Karve Christopher Bradley razor and I finished with alum along with Thayers Lavender witch hazel, followed by Williams "Aqua Velva" aftershave splash, vintage Williams talc and Nicolai "New York" EdT.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: As I mentioned above, our new drummer gave me the gift of new music last night, and so I repaid the favor. Turned him on to Pat Metheny, Gamalon and a couple more.

Closing out the workweek with a couple of cuts from the smooth and soulful Terence Trent D'arby. Hope you enjoy.



Fantastic shave with which to close out the workweek. Returned to Stirling Soap Co. and their excellent "Cypress" shave soap. Wonderful woody, evergreen, slightly camphorous scent with an incredibly thick and slick lather, built with the Ever-Readyl badger brush for three passes with the Karve Christopher Bradley razor and I finished with alum along with Quinn's Lavender witch hazel, followed by vintage Pierre Cardin Pour Monsieur aftershave lotion and EdC

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Warm and windy day on tap with storms moving in later. Rough morning. For whatever reason my legs kept cramping up last night. Woke me up three times. Coffee and a great shave are helping.

Late post but a fantastic shave to start the day. Returned to PAA and their excellent seasonal release, "Ciderhouse Five". Wonderful apple / spice / tobacco scent with an incredibly thick and slick lather, built with the Ruch Yuengel synth. Three passes with the Karve Christopher Bradley razor and I finished with alum along with Thayers unscented witch hazel, followed by the matching aftershave lotion and Al Haramain "Amber Oud Tobacco Edition" EdP.

Fantastic scent and lather, built with the Aylsworth synth for three passes with the Karve Christopher Bradley razor and I finished with alum along with Quinn's lavender witch hazel, followed by vintage Avon "Deep Woods" aftershave lotion EdC.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: A blustery day today, ushering in a temperature drop that will make the feels-like temperature tomorrow morning hover around 18°!! 🥶

A couple of live cuts from L.A. based SynthWave rockers, The Midnight for you today. Hope you enjoy.



Fantastic shave with which to kick off the new workweek. Went back to my vintage Crabtree & Evelyn Mysore Sandalwood shave soap. A very nice (though light) scent and super slick and cushioning lather built with the Paladin badger brush for three passes with the Karve Christopher Bradley razor and I finished with Thayers unscented witch hazel, followed by ETHOS Grooming Essentials "Mysore Santal" skin food splash and EdT. This setup has become one of my favorites. Incredible lather from the soap and this ETHOS splash and EdT is phenomenal! A beautiful scent! Very warm and creamy sandalwood

It's "Women of Rock Wednesday" and today I'm featuring a couple from American rockers, Concrete Blonde fronted by singer / bassist Johnette Napolitano. Hope you enjoy.



Incredible shave this morning! Returned to CBL Premium Soaps and Chris & Dave's collab, "Hombres Barber Shop" soap and tonic. This is one of the best scents I've ever smelled with notes of citrus, cucumber, jalapeno flower, leather, suede and gunpowder along with tumbleweed and terra-cotta clay. Truly unique and wonderful! Phenomenal lather built with the Paladin badger brush for three passes with the Karve Christopher Bradley razor and I finished with alum along with Thayers unscented witch hazel, followed by the matching aftershave tonic and vintage Avon "Black Suede" EdC.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Temps beginning to moderate today, back closer to what it should be here this time of year. Likely going to go get the Christmas decoration and put them up this weekend.

Another incredible shave this morning! Returned to PAA and their excellent Yardley Black Label homage, "The Watcher" soap and AS. Excellent dupe! I have a few bottles of vintage Yardley BL and this trio is practically identical. Phenomenal lather built with the Wild West Brushworks synth for three passes with the Karve Christopher Bradley razor and I finished with alum along with Quinn's lavender witch hazel, followed by the matching aftershave lotion and EdP.

The girl that Bono kisses and hugs in "Still Haven't Found" is a girl from my high school. Even confirmed it was her at our reunion a few years ago. She was walking down Fremont street in Vegas and saw Bono and the camera crew. She was surprised when he kissed her. But didn't complain.

Any band that covers Leonard Cohen is alright in my book. They kept the mood he created, which is nice.

“Everybody knows that you’ve been faithful, give or take a night or two” is one of my favorite Cohen lines. Another (from a different song on the same record):

“Give me crack and xxxx xxx, take the only tree that’s left, and stuff it up the hole in your culture.”

Let’s face it, the man just had a way with words. 😍

Got a couple from one of my all-time favorite groups this morning. Hope you enjoy.



Fantastic shave with which to end the workweek! Returned to ETHOS Grooming Essentials and Frank's excellent "Fougère" soap and splash. This IMO is Frank's meisterwerk!. What a phenomenal scent! Very green and earthy with an incredibly thick and slick lather built with the Envy Shave badger brush for three passes with the Karve Christopher Bradley razor and I finished with alum along with Quinn's lavender witch hazel, followed by the matching skin food splash and EdP.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: The latest iteration of the country band is coming together nicely! Our new drummer is fantastic! As the foundation of the rhythm section, I, as the bass player, must be able to lock in with the drummer so that the music sounds tight and cohesive. Achieving that with this guy has been effortless! Looking forward to what's to come!
