Hello everyone! Hope you had a pleasant evening.

Snowpocalypse (well, for the area I live in) so I'm going with some appropriate tunage courtesy of the late, great Dean Martin. Hope you enjoy.



Great shave this morning. Had another shave planned but changed at the last minute, choosing instead to go with my vintage Colgate "Cup Soap" shave soap. Just the hint of a scent left (though I couldn't tell you what it's supposed to be) but super thick and slick lather built with the vintage Ever-Ready 2-Band Badger Brush for two passes (plus touch-up) with the '56 Gillette Super Speed and I finished with a splash of Quinn's Pink Grapefruit & Orange Rind witch hazel, followed by vintage Pierre Cardin Pour Monsieur aftershave lotion, Cussons "Imperial Leather" talc & Pierre Cardin Pour Monsieur EdC.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Working from home today. Crystal took Max out to check out the snow. He's never seen it before. He walked down the front steps, looked around and "noped" it right back inside the house. 😂

It's "Synthwave Saturday" so here's a playlist for your listening pleasure. Hope you enjoy.


Back to the Feather Artist Club razor today with MUCH better results (though I did nick my right earlobe). Returned to Soap Commander and their Bay Rum scented shave soap, "Purpose". I also broke out my old scuttle from The Mud Place. Nice warm and cushioning lather built with the Paladin "Falstaff" 2-Band Badger brush. Three passes and I finished with a splash of Quinn's Pink Grapefruit & Orange Rind witch hazel, followed by Layrite "No.9" aftershave lotion, Clubman talc and Czech & Speake "Frankincense & Myrrh" EdP.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: As I said, much better results with the Feather AC this morning. My technique is still a little clunky though from not having used a straight in so long but I'll keep working at it. The snow's still around but has melted somewhat. Roads look okay, but they're saying overpasses and shaded areas are still icy. Not planning on leaving the house today if I can help it. Time for "Netflix and Chill" mode!

Some relaxing ambient music for your Sunday afternoon. Hope you enjoy.


Back to the Feather Artist Club razor again today. Results were on par with yesterday (except I didn't nick my ear today). Went with Martin de Candre and their excellent "Original" shave soap. Great scent and lather built with the Riva Brushes ST Badger brush. Three passes and I finished with a splash of Quinn's Pink Grapefruit & Orange Rind witch hazel, followed by Brut "Original" Splash On lotion.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Ended up watching "Apocalypto" yesterday. Been a long time since I last watched it. Had forgotten what a great movie it is.

We lost a great one last week with the passing of Sam Moore, half of the Soul and R&B duo, Sam and Dave. So today I'm featuring a couple of their greatest hits. Hope you enjoy.



Great shave with which to kick off the work week. Returned to Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements and their excellent Aqua Velva homage, "Sacré Bleu" shave soap. Great old school scent and phenomenal lather built with the Paladin "Chief" 2-Band Select Badger brush. Two passes (plus touch-up) with the '49 Gillette Milord I finished with a splash of Quinn's Pink Grapefruit & Orange Rind witch hazel, followed by "Aqua Velva" aftershave lotion and Caron "Le 3ème Homme" EdT.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Not much to report. Back in the office today. Snow's all but gone now. Will be online sporadically Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday as I'll be attending an retirement seminar from 2pm to 5pm each day.

I heard of his passing, but didn’t realize he was The Sam Moore. What a fabulous singer. He even sang with Springsteen & The E Street band a few years back.

Revisiting one of the best bands to have emerged from the 80's, Tears for Fears. Hope you enjoy.



Today's shave set the bar pretty high for the rest of the week. Returned to @CBLSoap.com and Chris' excellent "Hombres Barbershop" shave soap and aftershave tonic. Great scent and superb lather built with the Wild West Brushworks "Bisbee" Sweet Spot Badger brush. Two passes (plus touch-up) with the '58 Gillette Super Speed and I finished with a splash of Quinn's Pink Grapefruit & Orange Rind witch hazel, followed by the matching aftershave tonic and Coty "Stetson" EdC.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Getting back out with the country band this coming weekend. Show's starts at 9pm and goes to 1am.. I hope I can stay awake! :oops:

It's "Women of Rock Wednesday" and today I'm going with a couple from NYC powerhouse, Pat Benatar. Hope you enjoy.



Another fantastic shave this morning. Returned to Geo. F. Trumper and their excellent "Spanish Leather" shave cream, aftershave splash & EdC. Wonderful soapy leather scent and superb lather built with the Paladin "Somerset" 2-Band Select Badger brush. Two passes (plus touch-up) with the '57 Gillette Red Tip and I finished with a splash of Quinn's Pink Grapefruit & Orange Rind witch hazel, followed by the matching aftershave splash and Coty EdC.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: A chilly 27° out the door this morning. As I said, we've had some snow and now I'm ready for spring!
