Great shave Leon. Thanks for the update. Glad to hear things are good after observing things had gone quiet. What an awesome powder bomb. If they had one of those brushes taller, I’d be placyan order. Enjoy your time at home.
Is a TALC CANNON OFFICER anything like a TALC ORDINANCE COMMANDER?

This brush is by Beauty Strokes H.I.S. I had it in my retired section and pulled it out for the talc task. I’m not a synthetic brush fan, so I thought this would be a suitable task for the brush.

Clean and shave ready is good enough for most restorations. Honestly, I feel like a lot of restoration jobs end up getting "over restored." Meaning that the razor looses its lines, which are rounded over and it looks over worked. Most of these tools were never perfectly polished anyway. Much of the time I end up using the steel wire brush on my Dremel to knock the rust off then I do light sanding with higher grit paper(1000+ up to 3000). I finish on a buffing wheel which brings it all together or I use Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish and a bunch of elbow grease.

I also like to talk about my razors and acting as an apostle for wet shaving! Well done!

This what I’ve got done so far. Hand washed with pumice soap, knocked most of the rust off. Followed with 800 grit wet/dry. Got all the spots smooth. Next, 2000 grit paper. Moved on to the stones. 500 grit Shapton Glass, setting the bevel. Moved on up, 1000 grit, 2000 grit. Popping hairs except the toe. That’s where I stopped for now. I may break out the gun cleaning kit and use the brass brush in the corners. But it’s smooth and feels okay to the touch.

Great shave there.

Question. When you use the Barbicide dunk tank, do you put the whole razor in, or do you kind of let the scales hang on the outside?

I don’t have one of those fancy dunkers, so a used pickle jar suffices. Not quite so purdy though.

Nothing wrong with a little communication coming from alum or AS in my book.

I used to leave alum on and loved the skin tightening effects it produced. I started rinsing it off due to an occasional irritation that sometimes developed on me later in the day.

Safe travels bro.

I know it has been a while since my last video, but I’m enjoying a much more relaxed life. Got in Saturday from my Fernley Nevada load and I’m being set up for an Oregon load departing April 1st, which is very unusual. I have to manage my intervening time accordingly. This extra down time allowing for much needed repairs on the tractor - new a/c compressor among them, and some needed rest… well, almost.

My wife and I spent yesterday cleaning and reorganizing the garage. We had enough plywood and boards to cover the rafters. Now we have lots of storage in the attic. Ten hours, but we got it done.

The video is from yesterday morning. I had a lovely shave with a refreshed edge on my Wacker Old Sheffield. I changed from a Coticule to Dan’s Whetstone Arkansas True Hard with excellent results. A second shower was needed after.

Enjoy the video. More importantly, enjoy the tools. I know I did.

That must have felt like a great accomplishment! I know every year I do spring cleaning - there’s that feeling of relief - that is until I reclutter it somehow 😂

New freezer - wow!

Do you buy products in bulk? Growing up we had a couple of freezers - we used to by a cow with our neighbors every year to have beef for the year.

New freezer arrives next week. The existing freezer holds all the meal containers my wife makes for my road trips. This second freezer going to be for the bulk meats. My dorm size refrigerator in the truck will hold 18 Rubbermade containers for my meals. We’re preparing for hyper-inflation, supply chain disruption, food shortages, and famine… in the USA.

My load this week takes me to Casper, Wyoming. Unloading the trailer now using air pressure. I have not used the compressor in nearly a year. All is working okay, no significant anomalies, except I can’t get more than 15 psi out of the compressor. I should be getting 20 to 25 psi. So my job this morning is to watch the little green gauge.

I got home yesterday late afternoon. The Casper, Wyoming trip went very nicely. I came home to a lovely wife and equally lovely meatloaf stuffed with pepperoni, cheese, chopped bell peppers… amazing. The shave video filled with non-stop story telling about my upcoming Oregon, family and friends. Yes, it’s a bit long but go ahead and play it at 1.5 speed, if you wish.
