Let's All 3017... 2020 CBL Tonsorial Edition!

With the key I assume that's a psycho, but I'm pretty sure the handle is a different shape than mine.
Gibbs. That's not a key.... it's the TTO Knob. It comes out just like some of the old Gillettes.

Buy him books, buy him books and all he does is chew the covers off.........
I haven't heard anyone say anything similar since the summer of 1984!! I was working my first full time summer job as an overnight grocery store stocker, and one of the crew, ribbing us noobs home from college, says "buy him a book, send him to school, and what's he do? Chews on the cover!" I still use it with folks I work with when the situation warrants it, but I have not heard anyone else use it before. More history, please!!

Chews on the cover!" I still use it with folks I work with when the situation warrants it, but I have not heard anyone else use it before. More history, please!!
Step brother that I used to do electrical work with picked it up from an old electrical contractor he worked with previously and I've used it since all the time as I thought it funny. ;) (y)

I had a bump early this week, I broke out my SynBad brush which I haven't used in a good while and I think it caused my to break out too. I never noticed this before, but when I went to splay the brush on my face, it felt prickly, and about a half hour after the shave I got a rash on my neck. I thought it might be the soap, but it's only happened this one time, with that brush. I think the prickliness triggered a reaction.
Out of curiosity, which knot for the SynBad? I ask because there was a batch of the 24mm knots that had inverted fibers, making the brush feel prickly. I pulled many of the fibers out, and the brush got better, but by then I had a 30mm and the 26mm was exactly to my liking, so I sold or gave away the 24mm. Another guy on B&B had similar issues, and corresponded with AP Shave Co, and got the inverted fiber story. He got his to where it felt fine.

The point of my ramble, other than to watch the letters and words appear like magic on the screen 😜, is to give you an idea of what may be behind the pokiness of a knot that is supposed to be soft.

In any even, hope the irritation clears up fast!

Thanks for the thought, I've got a big 30mm SynBad, I'm sure it's fine. The thing is I have some kind of fibre related dermatitis, so am just really sensitive to things that poke. I put some cortisone cream on it, and all better.

Here’s my science update.

Prior to day 4’s shave my tub of soap (no lid) weighed 81g. Today after shave 11, 64g. So over the last 8 shaves I’ve used 17g or 2.125g per day. My puck by itself (no tub) initially weighed 51g, so it should last about 24 shaves, which leaves me about 13 more shave to go!

2020 Shave # 13 ( 433 Consecutive Shaves )
Razor: Gibbs Adjustable Setting 4
Blade: Polsilver (1)
Brush: Paladin 26mm LE Beehive Honey Noir
Soap: CBL Tonsorial Fresh Lime 3017 (13)
Aftershave 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla
Aftershave 2: Clubman Whiskey Woods
Fragrance: CK Euphoria Amber Gold

Shave #13 for the 3017 and we're grinding away at the tub.............................at least I think I am. No noticeable difference to me but it must be going down. Variety has been obtained by changing the brush, aftershave and fragrance while occasionally changing the razor. This was shave #4 with the Gibbs. I used setting 4 with a fresh Polsilver blade and this is my sweet spot I believe for daily driving. I may try 4.5 or 5 tomorrow. What a smooth and comfortable shave. I GOTTA find one of these in great shape!! No hurry but a definite buy. Tuesday will be my last shave with it as I have something else coming to test drive in the mail and others on the horizon. Perfect timing for my 3017 of the soap. Staying in and will listen to services online since I'm fighting the fine fight of the Crud. Soldier on Cadre !!
