If you have to do something...

Good stuff Chris! You need to a build an AS cellar to properly age your brews. My wife didn’t like the Stirring or CC BR, but she loves the AA BR.

I have not tried an “aquatic” yet. But I have this mental image of salt, seaweed & fish. Hmmmm.
Get a sample of Davidoff Cool Water. It is a good starting point for aquatics.

Always great to have the missus on board! When it comes to bay rum scents that aren’t actually bay rum, I hear AABR is pretty close to the top!

As for aquatic scents, it’s kind of an ambiguous term for me right now. I don’t think I’ve smelled a truly aquatic scent yet, so for me the term currently fits scents that are stereotypical “ocean-like” scents, thinking of it in an unsophisticated and childish sort of way - something you might get from a kids bath soap or gaudy candle scent.

Open Blade Shave #198:

Gear: Feather AC SS, Feather Pro blade (12), RR Game Changer, Voskhod blade (7), RR Big Bruce synth, SC Commitment soap, Alum block, generic witch hazel, and Aqua Velva Musk to close.

Everything is just looking forward to #200 at this point.

Same split and passes in razors, zero irritation at this moment. I am finding that occasionally, later in the day, I’ll have some dryness and itchiness on the lower corners of my mouth. Usually a little moisturizer will take care of it, but I don’t know if I can even attribute it to the shave or not.

Today was my first use of Aqua Velva Musk. This has similar properties to the Ice Blue, but is ultimately very different. There is a bit of a citrusy note at the start, the powder is still there, though not as profuse as the Blue, and there is also a heavy animalic/gamey scent at the forefront. I assume this must be their musk. It is kind of like part of the scent you get off of a steak or pork carnitas, I can’t describe it better than that at the moment. It’s a bit unpleasant at first but becomes tolerable as the AS goes through cool down. I think between the two AVs, Blue is a bit better.

Should be a relatively easy day at work today, just keeping busy for the most part. I do get to go in and get out a little early. Sadly it won’t do me much good in terms of family time, they’ll be off at a different function by that time.

One more work day after today. Looking forward to my weekend!

Have a great Friday all!

Open Blade Shave #199:

Gear: Feather AC SS, Feather Pro blade (13), RR Game Changer .68, Voskhod blade (8), RR Big Bruce synth, LNHC Coconut Oud soap, Alum block, generic witch hazel, and Myrsol K AS to finish!

Good shave today! Nothing really special, just blessed with some really good products and decent gear! In all things, I must remember to give thanks!

Typical 3 pass split between razors. I hope my bit of acne smack dab in the middle of my upper lip clears up by video day! The Coconut Oud was loaded for 15 seconds and I had enough lather for 4+ passes! Crazy!

Been really nailing these XTG/ATG hybrid passes lately in my care areas. They don’t last as long as true ATG results, but consistently little to no irritation, and I usually get at least 5ish hours of total smoothness; hey, more to shave off the next day right?

Today was the first use of Myrsol K formula AS. I had previously used the C formula weeks ago. That one has a very sweet, almost fruity lilac scent, while this one is a very nice peppermint. I like this one a bit more! Either way, they both are kind of in the Lucky Tiger/Speick realm of AS, as far as good scent but doesn’t stick around long. Face feel is decent. It does feel like you’re putting something on other than just scent.

Early day at work today, which means early home too!

Day off of open blade shaves tomorrow, I think I’ll use the GEM. 200th hopefully Monday!

Have a great Saturday all!

Unsure if I count single or double passes as a straight shave or not? If singles count I should start counting at 1......
A question for the ages. I say if over half your passes were with a straight, then it's a straight shave.

Makes sense. Ones I did with nothing but a straight for all passes years ago is unknown and only done single passes up til now so will start counting when I get 2 full passes out of 3 in. Thanks, it's what I thought would make sense.
