Open Blade Shave #182:

Gear: Feather AC SS, Feather Pro blade (10), RR Game Changer .68, Personna Super blade (3), RR Big Bruce synth, JoHS Turkish Bath (Barbershop) soap, Alum block, generic witch hazel, and Stetson Cooling AS to finish.

Well today’s shave started with a bit of irritation/sensitivity on the chin leftover from yesterday’s shave. I think it’s rawness from me pushing it a bit too much then even though I didn’t have my normal growth. So I did 3 passes today, normal split, but I tried to forgo touchup in favor of letting the skin have a slight break. No battle damage today, though my chin is still tender.

If you’ve read my journal previously, you know that JoHS Turkish Bath is one of my current in-den favorites. I thought it would pair well with the out-of-bottle scent of the Stetson; it didn’t quite, thankfully though TB is just a warm clean scent that serves as a backdrop for other things.

That said, Today was my first use of Stetson. Very nice cooling effect. The initial scent after application is a bit reminiscent of the Pinaud line (its amazing how many scents I equate along those lines now). It kept some of the powder, but during cool down mellowed into a light leather, lightly woody scent. It’s very subdued but nice.

Today is my Wednesday. Can’t believe how the days seem to be flying by!

Enjoy your Thursday all!

just catching up! good stuff and bummer about the rawness. Stetson is great but didn't fly with the wifey. Glad you are digging it!

Thanks Tom! I’m surprised she could even smell it. You must have been rocking it. I put on a fairly decent amount and it’s died down to almost nothing it seems like.

Open Blade Shave #183:

Gear: Feather AC SS, Feather Pro blade (11), RR Game Changer, Personna Super blade (4), RR Big Bruce synth, Tabac soap, Alum block, generic witch hazel, and Alpa 378 AS to finish!

Most of the chin irritation I felt from Wednesday’s shave was gone by this morning, making things a little more pleasant today.

Standard 3 passes with normal split between razors. The Feather edge is starting to feel a tad off on my sensitive areas, but still performing well otherwise. The Personna seems to have calmed now and settled into a bit of a groove, cutting decently smooth for the most part.

Today was the first use of the Alpa AS. The bottle is quite tiny (50 ml), I don’t know if this is the standard size or not. The scent out-of-bottle is verging on Veg/lilac to me, but upon application is quite green; it smells to me like a fern might smell, but a bit stronger. This has a nice, brief but sharp, menthol cooling effect as well.

A good shave!

Slightly busy shift ahead today and tomorrow. Two memorial services happening, some ladies of the church doing the first round of their annual biscotti baking for holiday fundraisers, and some other stuff. Tired and looking forward to chugging through to Sunday!

Happy Friday all!

Open Blade Shave #184:

Gear: Feather AC SS, Feather Pro blade (12), RR Game Changer, Personna Super blade (5), RR Big Bruce synth, DR Harris Sandalwood soap, Alum block, generic witch hazel, and Stirling Vanilla Sandalwood AS to finish!

Ah, my Friday has arrived! Up a little early this morning, in to work early, and closing early too!

Normal 3 passes today with typical split in razors. Some in-shave irritation, Feather Pro was a little rough here n there, but post-shave everything seems OK. The DRH made a decent lather today. The results were decent 80%+ BBS.

Today was first use of the Stirling Vanilla Sandalwood. The scent is strong! The vanilla definitely is out front with a slight hint of sandalwood lurking in the back. It’s a gender neutral scent IMO, but I enjoy it. The application is OK, you really have to spread it quickly, even with a moist face, as it absorbs/drys quickly. It does have witch hazel in it, which is a bonus.

Looking forward to getting the first 3/4 of this day done!

Happy Saturday all!

Free Shave Day:

Gear: RR Game Changer, Personna Super blade (6), RR Big Bruce, GD Flight soap, Alum block, generic witch hazel, Fine Platinum AS, and Fine Platinum EdT to finish!

I went easy on my skin, three passes with the GC today, no Feather shavette use. Tomorrow I want a fresh and ready face to destroy with my first use of the GEM Jr!

I almost opted for AOS Sandalwood cream, but I’m just enjoying the GD lathers way too much!

Personna Super seems to be going strong, especially since I’ve been trying not to do true ATG strokes on my upper lip. Instead, the last couple of days, I’ve been doing double XTG/ATG hybrid passes - W->E then E->W. It doesn’t get everything, but it gives me a few hours of almost complete smoothness.

Up for church this morning, looking forward to some God and coffee, lol. I’m pretty sore from work the last couple of days. Still, yardwork after service, some family time, then bible study later tonight! Should be a nice day.

Have a blessed Sunday all!

If you want to be really nice to your upper lip, you could just let 'er grow. Take Chad's place for a while.
