If you have to do something...

I also decided to try the Pinaud hair styling gel I was passed along. Scent is a mixture of normal gel smell and something a bit powdery/citrus. Not unpleasant, just different.

Thats my gel of choice. Love the smell of it.

Have you tried the Swiss Pitralon yet? It's even better than the Classic, IMHO.

I haven’t. Though I did get Pitralon F in my lot. That one is quite synthetic smelling at first but fades quickly. It’s a bit repulsive. I’ve only smelled it but haven’t truly applied it yet.

Is the Swiss version the same scent profile as Classic?

Open Blade Shave #178:

Gear: Feather AC SS, Feather Pro blade (6), RR Game Changer, Dorco Stainless Platinum blade (5), RR Big Bruce, Catie’s Bubbles La Rose du Mechant, Alum block, Myrsol C Aftershave, and MK High Intensity Ocean to finish.

Good 3 pass shave today, didn’t push it too much, but received pretty decent results - 80%+ BBS.

Sadly, I may have met my first irritation from soap. Today was my first use of The La Rose. It is actually very pleasantly scented, I didn’t know if I would like it or not, but during the process of the shave, I actually enjoyed the scent. Toward the end of the first pass however, my upper cheeks started tingling/burning a bit and that sensation became pretty moderate by the post shave phase. Interestingly though, there is not a lot of visible redness or irritation (none that I’ve seen yet anyway), though it still tingles a bit. I will test one more time at a later date to be sure.

Today was also my first use of Myrsol C. I was trying to look up what scent this carries, but it seems that each vendor has a different idea. One said grass, another Lila, one watermelon, and yet another mint. I’m going to side with the one that said watermelon, though there are other subtle scents I can’t pick out hanging in the background. This is a refreshing menthol AS. I like the scent.

Today is my Friday! Huzzah!

The Marriage Conference wraps up this afternoon and everything will be prepared for services and Sunday school tomorrow. It’ll be a long day, but reasonably easy...plus I get to close early!

Enjoy your Saturday all!

Free Shave Day:

Gear: RR Game Changer, Dorco Stainless Platinum (6), RR Big Bruce, GD Flight, generic witch hazel, Fine Platinum AS, and Fine Platinum EdT to close!

Was a little groggy this morning - late night, early morning. So I decided to skip the Feather for the first two passes, opting for GC only today, but I did do three full passes.

There was not enough of my GD Absinthe & Leather left to make a full lather build, which was super sad. So, I lathered up a fantastic, creamy brush full of GD Flight and took off into a great Sunday morning shave!

The Dorco is definitely going to be binned after tomorrow. Same perceived issues - still mostly smooth, still no irritation, but it just feels like I have to do a lot of cleanup as I feel the edge pass over stubble instead of completely cut.

Finished up with Fine Plat AS and EdT. 80%+ BBS today!

We’re on our way off to church. The missus is opening up our church’s coffee bar, so we’re going a bit earlier than normal.

Going to try to get the lawn done again after services, like I did last week. Less to do tomorrow!

Enjoy your Sunday folks!

Good reads Chris. My lawn needs to be mowed also, but they were out the other day and spray painted the electric, gas lines etc to prep for some work being done this week, so I figured I would leave the paint be for them.

Thanks Chad!

Probably a good idea lol. Not good to get your utilities companies mad at you. Besides you had better things to do - beer, pie, n football!

IMHO, the Swiss Pitralon is not even close to the Classic, not at all. The Swiss version sort of smells like pears, or a pear/green apple thing. It's a fantastic scent, but fades quickly, thus it won't interfere with any post-frag. The face feel of the Swiss a/s is awesome. It's one of the best aftershaves there is.

The magic words!

Sounds nice! I’d definitely dig that scent!

Open Blade Shave #179:

Gear: Feather AC SS, Feather Pro blade (7), RR Big Bruce, Cella soap, generic witch hazel, and Old Spice AS to finish.

Early afternoon shave today. Usually I don’t wait this long, but time got away from me. I didn’t record yet, hoping to have my haircut later tonight; I look like a poofy haired beast!

Due to the later shave, I only did 2 passes with the Feather only, skipping the ATG and GC. I’m left on the DFS/CCS boarder, which I can deal with until tomorrow.

Chris’ use of the Vitos has me hankering for some almond, so I busted out the Cella. Never disappoints! So glad I am not allergic to it’s scenting!

Today was my first use of modern Old Spice (plastic bottled stuff). I don’t exactly remember what the vintage stuff was like, but I want to say it was deeper and more “nutty”. This is nice though; not as bright or powdery as Avon Spicy. Longevity seems good, I don’t feel any effects from it though, it just feels like a splashed it on for fragrance only.

Nice relaxing day off otherwise - quiet, only a couple of chores to take care of. Tonight it’ll be me and the kids handling homework business and dinner while the missus is at a meeting.

Back to work tomorrow!

Hope your day is going well!

If you want a good old spice clone I think the consensus is to go buy the Family Dollar brand at a family dollar. Supposed to be real similar to the original.

The FD brand Spice AS is closer to the smell of original Shulton formula than the current P&G, but it does lack in longevity. Lots of people mix the two with good results. I've done lots of sniff test comparisons, and had all my kids and a few other folks do the same thing. Everyone concurs that Avon Spicy is the closest to Shulton OS.

Thanks guys. The wife rolls her eyes whenever I mention Old Spice. She knows I used to wear it when I was a kid, but, like NurseDave, she associates it with “old”. Once these P&G bottles are gone I may just go grab one for myself anyway. ?
