Open Blade Shave #180:

Gear: Feather AC SS, Feather Pro blade (8), RR Game Changer .68, Personna Super blade (1), RR Big Bruce, SC Commitment, Alum block, generic witch hazel, and Ogallala Bay Rum & Sandalwood AS to finish!

Shot video today, not sure when it will be uploaded though.

Shave was good, normal 3 pass. I’m sitting 90%+ BBS for sure. Not much to report in the shave itself. I did get a couple weepers on the upper lip at the corners of the mouth, but that’s pretty much expected when I’m chasing. I did almost make a terrible mistake with the Feather at the start of the second pass. I set up my stroke behind the back of the jaw, on the neck, and the edge caught on something and instead of the stroke moving forward it started sliding up! Thankfully I caught myself and broke the blade’s contact with the skin. No blood loss there, just the faintest of stripes. Super lucky!

Today was a first use of the Personna Super blade. It gave a good ATG pass; it wasn’t the smoothest, but sharp enough to get the job done without tugging or too many micro cuts.

Today was also the first use of the Ogallala Bay Rum & Sandalwood AS. The out of the bottle scent is very nice, on the sweet side of things though. I did not get much sandalwood at all, but the bay rum is the dominant scent in this mix. It smells very “holiday” - vanilla, clove, some cinnamon I think, among other notes. I like it it for its scent, but I felt as though it didn’t do much for me in terms of face feel.

Back to work today. Going to busy! The weather here is holding in the 80s/90s this week, so it’ll be a little warm, but not unbearable. California likes to hang on to summer as long as naturally possible.

Today I also get to put in my time off request for a men’s retreat coming up in October. We go for a weekend up to a nice retreat center right on Lake Tahoe. It’s a good time of food, friends, many activity, and bible study!

Have a great Tuesday all!

Definitely will be, hopefully not too long off! It’s getting some positive first impressions!
Great! Now I have yet another piece of shave gear that I need to get. Will it ever end?

I was a couple of days behind, but caught up now. Nice shaves and reads. Well, except for the repulsive scent and irritation. But other than that, great stuff!

Nice video Chris ! As far as quality of picture, higher is always better to view for me and is more of a decision for you as far as upload time. Have a good day!!

BTW, back to the Old Spice.....have you tried the Old Spice aftershave from India? It's dynamite and supposedly the same formula from the original. I can honestly say, that to me, it's the same thing. The only place I've found it is online from WCS.

I haven’t, this was my first foray back into old spice in like 20 years. I’ve heard similar sentiments echoed though!

Open Blade Shave #181:

Gear: Feather AC SS, Feather Pro blade (9), RR Game Changer .68, Personna Super blade (2), RR Big Bruce synth, Proraso Green soap, Alum block, generic witch hazel, and St. Charles Shave Lime AS Splash to finish!

Decent shave today! Typical 3 passes, though I didn’t have much to work with honestly, I just barely started coming out of BBS/DFS overnight from yesterday morning’s shave.

The Green gave me a nice, refreshing lather after an early morning get-up. The Personna felt a bit rough, but I think that was due more to my lack of stubble.

First time use of the SCS Lime splash. Very nice cooling menthol, intense like burst. Smells to me a lot like the lime juice you get out of those little plastic squeeze limes in the grocery store - definitely tart, maybe a tad synthetic, but overall different from anything else I have, and nice. It paired well with the Green.

As I mentioned, I got up early this morning to spend some time with the missus. She had a PT appointment to get to and we went for some coffee after before parting ways for the major part of the day. A good morning!

Have a great Hump Day all!

I was waiting to hear your impressions of that one. Sounds nice. Thanks!

I know you were impressed the most with EJ Lime, but sadly I can not compare. The Lime has been noticeable a couple hours when smelling my hand, otherwise I don’t get much projection. It’s faded now.
