If you have to do something...

Free shave day:

Gear: Fatip Piccolo, Astra SP blade (13), RR Big Bruce, SS Citrus & Bay, and, it being Friday and all, cut Pinaud Clubman decant to close.

Much better feeling shave today than the last two days. I had to give up some better results on my upper lip, but most everything else is sitting at about where it normally is.

I held to my pledge and did not do ATG on my upper lip, though I did chase a bit XTG, lol, as much as one can. Still, less irritation overall, though I got a healthy alum burn, it wasn’t entirely unpleasant. I think that’s just normal for me with this razor to an extent.

I’m still continuing with the full post shave routine as well. I’m enjoying it very much! After the final pass: warm rinse, lather soak, cold rinse, alum, cold rinse, witch hazel, and finish with AS.

One more day with the Piccolo and then I think I’m going to bring out the Prewar Fat Handled Tech for a last hurrah. I believe I will give this razor to my Dad in his PIF package along with the RV Egg Synthetic and some soap samples. I love the Prewar though, so I will eventually have to pick up another.

Two day to my weekend! Today will be busy at work with a few large events. An American Heritage Girls troop meets on our campus, they are kicking off their program year today. I got to speak before then once, briefly. Quite a bright group of young ladies! It’s good to know there are still value and belief driven programs like this instilling good citizenship, morals, and family values in our young ones.

Happy Friday all!

Good stuff Chris! I gave my Dad a birth quarter superspeed...he likes it a lot, but can't use it. Well, he SAYS he can't use it. Truth is, he's not patient enough to re-train himself to use a DE, nor go through the process of making lather...etc. It's all good, just something else i can rib him about. hahahahaha

Get him to join the forum !!

Lol, I don’t know if I’d want that...

Likes it a lot, can’t use it...typical dad response! Lol. Just like all the ties and socks we used to get them for birthdays and Christmas.

ATG on the upper lip I usually refer to as the fools pass. I am fool everytime I do it. Usually a cut or irritation.

Yea I've heard that reference before. Some razors I can actually do it decently with, but still usually a moderate amount of irritation for an hour or two.

From my understanding, the fool's pass is more specific to straight razors than it is safety razors. Something about slipping and taking your nose off...lol

I think I have only done one AtG pass in my life on my upper lip. It's not something I normally do. I will do a XtG pass on it and that is basically how I cleanup around the edges of my nose. But I'm not sure an AtG pass under my nose is something I really want to do.

I think your Dad is really going to like that Tech and Brush...both are really nice tools of the trade. I know I have read it before but I can't seem to remember...is your Dad a Traditional Wet Shaver already?

My dad is dedicated to his electric razor.

Other than this obvious flaw, he's a great man, so I cut him some slack on this.

That's what I always thought. I always do it if I want smooth there with a de

Dave’s a thug.

Thanks Don. No unfortunately, much like Randall’s father, mine also has kept to his electrics the majority of his life.

You're a good son!

Glad to hear both of these!

Free shave day:

Gear: Fatip Piccolo, Astra SP blade (14), RR Big Bruce, DR Harris Sandalwood, and CC Venture to finish.

Final shave with the Piccolo for the time being. After work I’ll wipe it down and put it back in storage, then toss the Astra.

Same old details, so I won’t bother anyone with repeating them. 80%+ BBS today.

Looking forward to tomorrow’s shave which will include the Fat Handled Tech and I’ll be re-upping the Feather for duty.

Today is my Friday! Looking forward to gettin ‘er done and getting my weekend started!

Happy Saturday all!

Journal update:

Man, something is irritating the heck out of my skin!

It still feels prickly this many hours later. Could I be reacting to something in the Harris? I hope not, I haven’t, that I remember, experienced this previously. My face was a bit splotchy red for a while, but not until after the shave, after my post did I really notice anything.

Maybe it was just the blade? Thankfully tomorrow is a fresh one. Just more scrapage than I thought? Maybe.

The game is afoot!
