If you have to do something...

Nice quickie Chris, though sorry to hear about the user error bites! Catie's Bubbles is a thirstier soap if I remember correctly. Good luck with the car shopping...always a bit nervy.

Thanks for reading! It’s funny you mention the soap being thirsty, it’s quite true. I made a grave mistake yesterday of letting my mind float elsewhere while building my lather. I had the faucet running for a minute and instead of putting a few drops of water on the brush, I stuck the whole thing in the water stream! I figured the damage was done and I’d have to start over, but I lightly shook the brush out anyway and continued that lather. Surprisingly the Catie’s took it like a champ! I think it helped I was using my synthetic too.

Oh boy... I am so behind on videos. Added to the Q!

No worries!

Old news.

Just kiddin', thanks for sticking with it and posting.

Lol. Thanks for watching!

Very cool - now we need a depository for all these vids!

Thanks for watching! I guess the Member Video section kind of counts, no? Do you have something else in mind?

Open blade shave #160:

Gear: Feather AC SS, Feather Pro blade (3), Prewar Fat Handled Tech, Wilkinson Sword blade (3), Scheermonnik Delfts Wit, and CC Venture to close.

Pretty comfortable shave today except for under the bottom lip. Got a small outbreak of pimply things (likely too many sweets) and nicked a couple open.

Otherwise a standard 3 pass. I kinda lost the touch I had with the Feather, rounding the chin and jawline on the WTG. Focusing hard on getting that stroke back comfortably. No other problems though for the most part. The Wilkinson felt a little rough ATG today, but I’ll stick with it for the time being.

Didn’t push things too hard for the shave. I’m sitting at about 75%+ BBS today, and I’m OK with that!

I’m back to work in a little bit, full force. Summer programs are through and today kicks Fall programs into high gear - homeschooling groups, music programs, bible studies, support groups, etc. A couple of our part timers are starting college classes for the year, so that adds a little stress on the schedule, but we’ll see.

Still haven’t looked at any other cars yet. The leased car my wife has, we will likely be returning (end of the month), the company is dragging their feet on paperwork for us buying it out. Not sure why. We went through some options yesterday, but in general I’m feeling that we shouldn’t rush a decision, even if it means we have to be a one car family for a little while. It’s not convenient for how busy we are, but we are trying to make careful lifestyle choices all the same. Living in CA is not easy sometimes.

Glad I have family, friends, and good shaves to hang on to!

Have a great Tuesday all!

Funny, just watched your video and then read this post. I was thinking, that's not what you shaved with. All coming together now.

It's a bummer car shopping is a pain. My wife just got her car from Car Max and also took her parents there to get one. For sure stress free since you don't negotiate, but I've also read they have a larger margin on their cars than other used lots. So it sucks thinking you're paying more than you might have to, but nice that you don't have to argue about the price for hours.

We did think of Carmax for at least selling my truck if need be. Not so sure about buying, they do seem a bit high in some cases, but they’re successful for a reason right? Definitely a step above many other uses car lots.

Solution: Get yourself a motorcycle. Cheaper than a car and great gas mileage!

I actually suggested that, despite the convenience and man status of having a truck handy, this was one scenario where I’d gladly sell it...I got the “oh hell no” speech ?

We’ve entertained that idea before, but she’s not ready.

Great shave Chris...even if it wasn't 100% BBS.

Car shopping and selling is always a PITA. Kudos for you on slowing down the process. As a person who spent a little time as a car salesman (a VERY little time) I can attest that those guys will do just about anything to sell a car. If they are dragging their feet...then ditch them...they are probably up to something. I have never bought anything from CarMax...but my in-laws have had really good experiences with them. They didn't have the car they wanted on the lot here in the Baton Rouge area...so they trucked one in from Alabama. My wife and I don't really buy used vehicles anymore. We have good reasons also. Because of all the natural disasters we have had her over the past 10 - 15 years...the used car market is really screwed up. The last few times the wife and I went to buy a vehicle...the prices on the used vehicles were outrages. Two vehicles that are the same...differences being the used will be a couple years old and obviously mileage...the used will vehicle will only be a few thousand dollars less and will likely have more mileage than it should. It's really crazy.

Nice write-up Chris!

Thanks Josh!

Thanks Don.

Yes, those same flooded cars are one of my worries. They were predicted to be spread out quite thoroughly over the country and I wouldn’t doubt that a good number found their way over here.

I also just really dislike the thought of owning a used car, even if the dealer slaps on some limited warranty. The last cars we got were both new and lasted well over 10 years before any major issues occurred. You really can’t ask for better these days.

Open blade shave #161:

Gear: Feather AC SS, Feather Pro blade (4), Gillette Prewar Fat Handled Tech, Wilkinson Sword blade (4), RR Big Bruce, Proraso Red soap, and Proraso Red AS to finish!

Very nice shave today! I qued up Josh’s and KJ’s v-logs while I went about my own shaving business.

Got good reduction in 2 passes with the Feather today, no blood loss. The prewar Tech final pass was easy peazy. I’m a little worried about the Wilkinson though, today was only it’s 4th shave and it’s feeling a little rough already. I’ll push it a little further just to make sure; maybe one more shave for now. This would be the quickest I’ve ever binned a blade if it doesn’t pass muster tomorrow.

The only part of the shave that might have been truly uncomfortable was still my lower lip/acne issue. A quick, careful pass with the Tech took care of it easily, but it did sting a bit with the alum.

The Proraso Red soap and matching AS performed exactly as expected, just like the classics they are.

Work was intensely busy yesterday as I expected, but it went off without a hitch. This evening, as part of our normal Wednesday night schedule during the year, many of our church members will be on campus for small groups/bible study, including the one I help lead with my wife. Though I’ll be working, I do get to sit in for a good portion. Looking forward to it!

Happy Wednesday all!

Nice one Chris! Glad to hear the busy day went off without any issues of note. Good to hear that you'll be able to take a load off during the bible study tonight.
