If you have to do something...

Odd, aftershave reaction? I would think once rinsed the soap wouldn't continue to be a problem.

I don’t think it’s the Venture. I’ve used that plenty too and had no issues.

Because of my “lather soak” (though I rinse after) the properties of any soap would have decently lasting effects after the shave as it is partially absorbed.

At this point I’m just hoping blade/scrapage.

Sorry to hear about the irritation...it's likely a mild case of razor burn. Just watch it to make sure it doesn't get any worse. Hope it gets better!

Thanks Don! It has calmed quite a bit now and most of the redness has cleared.

Good to hear that the irritation cleared up Chris. Sounds like it was just a nasty case of razor burn. Hopefully changing the razor (Piccolo) and blade will clear it up fine.

Thanks Josh! Much better this morning. See below.

Open blade shave #158:

Gear: Feather AC SS, Feather Pro blade (1), Gillette Prewar Fat Handled Tech, Wilkinson Sword blade (1), RR Big Bruce, GD Absinthe & Leather, and Fine Platinum to finish!

Well, after yesterday’s weirdness (knock on wood) I had a stellar shave today with stellar results!

I’m back to my standard setup, fresh blades in both razors. This time around I decided to load up a Wilkinson from KJ’s PIF (Thanks KJ!), a blade I have never tried before.

I did my standard 2 passes Feather, 1 pass Tech. I was a little nervous the first pass, it’s been a couple weeks since using it, but I fell right back in to rhythm. No nicks or other blood loss to speak of and good reduction.

The Tech is a known factor, a solid performer. I was pleasantly surprised by the Wilkinson Sword. It is a decently smooth and comfortable blade from the first stroke. Maybe not GSB status, but pretty darn close! I was able to do 100% against the grain in all areas my final pass.

Friends I am 100% BBS this morning, no alum feedback, no witch hazel or AS feedback. I’ll definitely be looking for a prewar Tech replacement once mine goes to my dad!

Nice weather today, it’s actually pretty cool outside. Headed off to church for the morning, then this afternoon we’re going to go look at electric cars. We are considering leasing one, but need to figure out the financial details and logistics for charging at our home. There’s some pretty good rebates going on in CA for clean energy stuff like that.

Anyway, happy Sunday all! The Lord bless you this day!

Nice shave and read Chris. Hope the car investigating goes well.

Thanks Dave!

It’s been over 10 years since we’be gone car shopping lol. It’s not an experience I enjoy. Today though we checked out the Nissan Leaf SV. Really nice car actually. Totally electric, plenty of punch and lots of nice safety options. We both liked it!

Nice shave!

I have liked the Leaf ever since it first came out, but never seriously considered buying one. Let us know how it works out if you do.

Outstanding results!

And Georgia used to have an excellent tax rebate thing with the Nissan Leaf. Basically, you were driving it for free for the year! Wish I had gotten one. But alas, that program is over.

I can't fathom buying a car that I may not be able to make it back home on after a trip into town. Pretty sure the range is there but just something sitting in the back of my mind that i would at least like a small backup limp home engine or something.

Will do!

The CA incentives and rebates for green cars are pretty good, even for leasing. That’s probably the only reason we’re considering it at this time.

The range is good enough for us, 150ish miles on a full charge. That gets us around town well enough without needing to charge daily. Recharge times depend on the outlet you have access to, but range from 8-20 hours. And there are quick charge stations set up in key places that will give you a decent charge in a couple of hours.

Open blade shave #159:

Gear: Feather AC SS, Feather Pro blade (2), Gillette Prewar Fat Handled Tech, Wilkinson Sword blade (2), RR Big Bruce, Catie’s Bubbles Un Jour Gris, and homemade Brut AS decant to close.

No shave video today. Instead I plan to record my 7 Shaving Sins video a little later in the week. The kids will be heading back to school, so I’ll have the house to myself then.

Pretty decent shave today. A few nicks in all from both razors (total user error) and the Catie’s was a bit drying. The soap did give a great cushioned and slick shave though otherwise.

Most of my to-do list is done for the day, only a little laundry left to do. I’ll be spending the rest of it hanging out with the kids while the missus keeps some appointments. The weather is great and a nice breeze is blowing. A nice day.

Happy Monday all!

Nice quick entry Chris, I am leaving the office soon. I have to go pick my son up from school, then fold some laundry, and then mow the lawn. Thankfully the temps are cool today also. But after tomorrow it will warm up again.
