Gear: RR Game Changer, Astra SP blade (7), RV Egg w/ Tuxedo knot, GD Absinthe & Leather, and CC Venture to finish!

Really solid shave today, I’m sitting at 95%+ BBS!

I’m in to work early this morning, only a couple events going on and tomorrow’s to services to prepare for. I did not sleep well last night, we got to bed late, our own doing. The missus and I have been rewatching the show Sherlock the last couple of weeks, one of our favorites. Needless to say, I’m a bit tired this morning.

Did a standard 3 pass shave. Today will be the last day with the Game Changer for a week. Next week will be either playing with the Fatboy or the Piccolo and an occasional SR pass. Guess I’d better decide soon, it’ll start tomorrow! Starting tomorrow, I’ll also be going back to the RR Big Bruce synth, while I mull over what to do with the other brushes officially.

Kings of the Den day:

Gear: Gillette Fatboy (setting 3), Astra SP blade (8), RR Big Bruce, AOS Sandalwood cream, and AOS preshave oil w/ aftershave balm to finish!

Today was Kings of the Den day! Each one of these items is my absolute favorite bit of gear that I own for their category. Fatboy has my favorite shave (mostly from its smoothness), Astra SP is my go-to workhorse, RR Big Bruce is my favorite brush (perfect face lathered for me), and AOS Sandalwood product’s are good performers with my favorite scent to date out of all I’ve tried (though Fine Platinum is almost neck and neck)

Didn’t get much sleep again and had to get up early, but with a nice shower and a great 3 pass shave, sitting at 90%+ BBS, I’m ready to roll to church! I’m on duty today for Church Chaplain (we rotate taking bits of the weekend besides our normal full day on call, which mine is Mondays).

I absolutely love the AoS Sandalwood scent! Probably my favorite!

And did I read that correct? A pre-shave as an aftershave? Bold move man! Bold Move.
 
Great set-up and shave today Chris! I haven't tried the AOS stuff yet, but from what I understand the Fine Santal Absolut is pretty darned close in scent.

Open blade shave #156:

Gear: Koken Army & Navy SR, Fatip Piccolo, Astra SP blade (9), RR Big Bruce, JoHS Turkish Bath (Barbershop), and CC Venture to finish!

Today was a slightly rough, but ultimately nice shave after a morning of the usual yard work. I was going to put in the time and do a shave video today, but the kids unexpectedly had a friend come over and were making noise up the ying yang. Perhaps I’ll try and record one tomorrow. Our computer is having some off and on issues with internet connectivity so it’ll likely be a little while before I can post it anyway.

I pulled out the Old Crow today (Koken) and gave it a strop. Gave my stop a nice slice, but everything seemed in order otherwise. I attempted 2 passes with it but it’s been a while so it felt a bit rough. I had to be constantly mindful of my angle as I often found it sneaking up higher than is safe. I did get a couple nicks on the upper lip, but the reduction was decent.

My final pass was done with the Piccolo. It added to the upper lip irritation a bit but cleaned me up pretty nicely otherwise. I’ll be spending the week dialing this bad boy back in.

To help my skin I went through a full post shave regimen - cold water, lather soak, Alum block (man that was a heavy burn!), witch hazel, and aftershave. It calmed down the irritation quite quickly.

All said and done, I’m sitting at 80%+ BBS with the rest at DFS+ level.

A few more household chores to complete, then it’s just hanging out the rest of the day with the kids! The missus will be gone most of it unfortunately, having meetings and whatnot until this evening.

I'm glad that Don chimed in on the HT issue - I was hoping he would.
