If you have to do something...

Great shave Chris, I'm going to have to pic up some store brand witch hazel to try too, on KJ's advice.
Witch Hazel is really good stuff. I prefer paying the extra for Thayer's because it smells much better. I buy the Rose Petal stuff in two packs from my local Whole Foods. Adding unscented WH to any aftershave should make a big post-shave improvement.

+1

Also, if you have some vegetable glycerin, adding 1-2 small drops, (no more), will also improve the face feel without getting tacky. Just make sure you shake before use to emulsify the solution.

Free shave day:

Gear: BIC 2 blade disposable, generic shower gel, and homemade Brut AS decant to close!

The video kind of speaks for itself...as do the results. Kinda blown away right now, had to share!

Not you too! I will have to watch these videos when back at the hotel. But I have a feeling this was planned I tells ya!

Excuse me while I grab my torch and pitch fork. JK!

But all that plastic ... what about the environment?

I need to go read Mother Earth for awhile and find my happy place ?

When I saw that you had posted a video, Tim, I thought that Chad had gotten to you as well! (Watch today's videos if you don't know what I'm talking about)

Wow ... I hadn’t seen those. I don’t roam outside the journals too much. The site is not user friendly on my phone.

But nope, I’m stubborn and not easily swayed. I’ll hold what I got.

Free shave day:

Gear: RR Game Changer, Astra SP blade (5), B&B 10th Anniversary boar, Wickham Soap’s Club Cola, and typical Friday dose of cut Pinaud Clubman decant to finish!

So after escaping the strange mind control Chad had over the forums yesterday, I claimed today as a redemption shave day!

I felt Wickham was up to the task of cleaning off the slime of cart use and the B&B 10th did not disappoint in quickly whipping up a good lather off of its rock hard surface. I did bloom of course, to aid the process.

The RR GC gave a stellar performance with a very smooth 3 passes and cleanup. I’m left easily 90%+ BBS!

Now that I've used Dave’s PIFed brushes each at least a couple times or better, I continue to narrow down what to do with them. The RV Tuxedo remains the most likely to go to my father for its ease of use, though the B&B 10th comes a very close second. I may in fact let him choose.

The RV Shavemac, I feel, must either be kept for myself or handed off to an experienced shaver. I do not feel that this brush would be able to be enjoyed by a newbie shaver. I lean in the second direction currently, as I still favor my RR Big Bruce highest of all, leaving it likely that this beautiful work would sit more as a trophy than find actual use. That would be a travesty.

2 more days of work this week to soldier on through! The Family Promise ministry week wraps up for us on Sunday. Tomorrow a different group is holding a gigantic “yard sale” on our lot, with the proceeds going to help fight human trafficking. Some of you may already be aware, but because of the Sacramento area’s central, hub-like location, it is one of the worst areas in the country of many different kinds of trafficking, human not the least. A very sad fact!

Anyway...happy Friday all!

Great redemption shave Chris! I might have missed it, but what are your thoughts on the Wickham soaps? Club Cola is one I'm looking at getting...

Glad you are able to get a better shave than yesterday! Albeit yesterday's shave was VERY entertaining!

Up until about a year ago...I spent six years with the Louisiana State Police doing pretty much only Human Trafficking investigations and research. I traveled the country doing training seminars for Federal, State, and Local Law Enforcement/Intelligence Communities. I wrote several papers and more reports than I really know about the subject. I helped develop reporting systems for law enforcement agencies, and developed and implemented a process for the Louisiana Child and family Services to report suspected Human Trafficking to law enforcement. There is so much more that myself and colleges of mine from other states have done to help fight human trafficking. I guess I say all of this to say...that no matter how people see it...human trafficking is very real. It may be different to many people...but it is real and is rampant! I kind of burned myself out on those types of investigations...that is one of the reasons why I found another job (crooked politicians and public servants are easier to investigate), but I still have a place in my heart on the matter. There are so many layers to HT and it is rarely a black and white or well defined matter. It's good to hear about groups trying to do something about it. Sorry...don't mean to hijack.

Nice successful redemption shave day!

Thanks Dave!

Thanks Josh!

Wickham is a small step above Soap Commander overall I think. They are fairly similar though. The shave is pretty good, but they (vegan soaps) just miss that extra little something in residual slickness and post shave feel that tallow soaps have.

The Club Cola is nice and clean. I’m not sure what makes it “Cola”, it smells more like a lemon lime soda to me. I did not like the scent at first, but it’s grown on me a bit.

No apologies necessary. It is a very important subject, one that is way off the radar of “normal” folks going about their own busy lives. I worked with a guy at my last job who did work with the Marshals and others doing busts on trafficking rings and sexual predators. He had some pretty unbelievable stories. Kudos to you for being a hand in helping to try and put a stop to it!
