If you have to do something...

Congratulations on your anniversary brother. Glad you got to enjoy it.

Married 15 years?!? How old are you? Apparently older than I thought, lol.

First off, congrats on your wedding anniversary!

Secondly, regarding a brush/Cella combo....boar is the way to go with Cella, or any of the soft almond like Italian soaps, at least in my experience. It seems like they were made for each other.

Thanks Chris.

I used to think the same thing. In general it is easier to use a boar on harder soaps, but I’ve pretty much figured out how to use any brush and soap now! It works almost all of the time! It’s nice to be able to pick any combo and git er done.

Congratulations on your anniversary brother. Glad you got to enjoy it.

Thanks Dave!

Lol well I’ll take that as a compliment any day! I’ll be a wheezy old geezer at 36 this October.

Congrats on the anniversary!

Good recovery on the lather too. I’ve had a brush giving me some grief lately, but it just rotated out.

Open blade shave #155:

Gear: Feather AC SS, Feather Pro blade (13), RR Game Changer, Astra SP blade (13), RV Shavemac, Scheermonnik Delfts Wit, and CC Venture to finish.

Much better success on the Shavemac today. I followed through on bowl lathering with it, though it’s been a while since I’ve had to do that. I’m glad I did though; while the brush began to exhibit the same issues the second and third passes, having an external reservoir of lather to go back to made the difference. It was all the same amount of product as well. Whatever though, it worked.

The shave itself was a bit rough. I’ve got some definite razor burn. Particularly the Feather felt a bit like it was scraping, so I went ahead and pulled the blades from both razors and binned them. I’ll pop fresh blades in tomorrow.

Besides the irritation/razor burn, the shave result was on par - 95%+ BBS.

Its going to be a busy and hot day today at work, ready to power through it though! I can’t believe it’s already been a week since my vacation, man that flew by!

After work I’ll put the finishing touches on my teaching and we have some good friends coming over for a little visit. A full day, but should end pleasantly.

Happy Saturday all!

Sorry about the irritation...but at least the brush worked better for you this time.

Just a little behind Chris!

Glad you got the Shavemac to work for you. I pretty much always have and probably will bowl/scuttle lather. I just feel I have better control of the lather.

Cella is a great soap for me. When you said SC I assume you mean Soap Commander. They are only about 20 miles from me. When I asked Mr. SC as to whether or not to bloom his soaps, he said, "Drown Them". I really like Soap Commander and they are really nice and great people.

Yeah, any hard soap is going to load better/easier if you bloom it.

Yep. Since starting here, I’ve become a re-believer in blooming the harder soaps. No reason not to make things easy on yourself.

Free shave day:

Gear: RR Game Changer, Astra SP blade (1), RV Egg w/ Tuxedo knot, JoHS Turkish Bath, and Fine Platinum to finish.

I wanted to do nothing more this morning than turn the alarm off, roll over, and go back to sleep. I was so achy and tired! But duty called!

I opted for a day off my normal routine this morning, as tired as I was. I may just carry that through the whole week, we’ll see. I may throw in an actual SR shave or two.

I was able to whip up a nice thick and slick Jeeves lather with the RV Egg. The RR Big Bruce still beats it performance wise and in ability to hold lather, but it’s no slouch!

I had already loaded a fresh Astra SP into the GC last night, so a nice, refreshing shower and I was ready to get to shave work. 3 ultra smooth passes, not much chasing (still needing a little time after the rough edge yesterday). Sitting at about 80%+ BBS with the rest on the BBS/DFS boarder.

I think Fine Plat just took the lead as my favorite AS scent. I almost don’t want to use anything else. If their EDT is similar, hands down, I want it. I want all the things!

This morning was otherwise a typical, frantic Sunday morning, trying to get everyone out the door at a decent time, particularly since I had to teach. When we got to church the main printer, of course, wasn’t working properly (oddly enough we don’t have a home printer, we rarely do hard copies of anything). So, thankfully for my wonderful wife, I went to set up for the class while she figured something else out for my notes. Everything was ready with a few minutes to spare.

The teaching went well. Whoever is up for the day essentially teaches for both service hours so that folks have an opportunity to catch both the service and the class.

Now we’re out to lunch at a local eatery, my boys and me hangers on of my wife treating the church coffee bar ladies she manages.

Yard watering today, some laundry and other house chores to start, and bible study this evening. A hot but nice day!

Hapoy Sunday all!

Great shave Chris!

If you like the Fine Platinum After Shave, then yes you should get the cologne!
