truck is back in business (55 hundred dollar bill, ouch)
Pretty much! But it was long overdue. Hopefully it takes care of anything except PM and some minimal repairs for the next 100k miles. So much for the paycheck.![]()
Yea, there were some cosmetic replacements, new belt, fluids changes/fills, and a bunch of other stuff…still on the expensive side but we expected that. It’s a dealership and it’s in Santa Barbara afterallMy gosh! I hope that $5500 was more than oil change, tire rotation and filters.
Not a Toyota! Booo!I’ll say!

Imagine what you could do with a Tesla!I’ll say!

I’ve got the v6 PreRunner Tacoma double cab with short bed. It’s definitely held up to it’s longevity reputation so far, with few major repairs needed along the way. And I’ll be honest, I haven’t kept very good regular care of it. For its hauling capacity, I’ve never needed anything bigger really unless it’s been a major move…but I haven’t had many large projects. It’s a bit underpowered compared to other brand equivalent pickups of the day, but current models have made up some of that gap. It’s been good to me!The wife and I have been talking about what our next vehicle will be and we’re both leaning towards a truck. We’ve always had one SUV and one sedan, and now we have 2 sedans. It really makes trips to Home Depot or the local nursery difficult. I’ve always been leery about a truck because everyone I know that’s had one has had to dump a significant amount of money into repairs at some point.
We still have another year to decide, but I’m torn on spending the money on a full size pickup or going with something like a Tacoma or Frontier. The new Ford Maverick pickup looks pretty nice too. Decisions decisions…
Why would reliability of a truck be different than a car? Unless they are actually using hard pulling and off-road n stuff.I’ve always been leery about a truck because everyone I know that’s had one has had to dump a significant amount of money into repairs at some point.
I think that’s it exactly. Most of my friends that have trucks use them to haul trailers, campers, boats, etc. I wouldnt be doing any of that so I’m probably worrying for no reason lol.Why would reliability of a truck be different than a car? Oooooor, you need a truck AND a boat.I think that’s it exactly. Most of my friends that have trucks use them to haul trailers, campers, boats, etc. I wouldnt be doing any of that so I’m probably worrying for no reason lol.
And a camper. With a truck and boat you'd definitely need a camper.Oooooor, you need a truck AND a boat.
I am 100% sure I do not need a boat. I have a couple of buddy’s that have boats and every season something new needs to be replaced to the tune of a few grand!Oooooor, you need a truck AND a boat.
Spousal guilt always worksGreat sleep in, followup up by an impromptu trip to the gym. The missus’ reasoning was - “I slept in late like you, so you can come work out with me now that we’re up”…I guess that works?![]()
All signed up for OT Hell Week the last week of the month, where we have to finish 5 classes in an 8 day period…it’s going to be crazy!
