Shave #313 (452 Open Blade Shaves) of 2020:

Gear: Schick M adjustable injector, Schick Twin blade, Yaqi Sagrada Familia synth brush, CBL Oud Minerale soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe blend, Lucky Tiger AS, and TF Oud Minerale to finish!

Corona Virus Official Day 238:

Up a bit early. I do have today off from work but we are going to a service. Thai will be the first time we’ve all been back together for church as a family. Usually the kids have been staying home, except for youth small group nights, while Kristen and I work the services. I was surprised to hear a bit of complaining when we told them since they haven’t been in 8 months but it’s whatever, we’re going. 😂

Great shave this morning with an Oud Minerale combo. Tom Ford really hit this and Ombré Leather out of the park...Oud Wood ain’t too shabby either...just a pipe dream that I could get a full bottle of them at some point though. 🤑

Not much else happening today. Just soaking in some family time.

Have a blessed Sunday all!
Oh kid complaining, I’m all too familiar with...My youngest finally said this morning, “Dad, church isn’t long enough because I like learning about Jesus more” ... guess the church move was a good choice so far 👍

Shave #314 (452 Open Blade Shaves) of 2020:

Gear: RR GC .68 SB, Bic Chrome Platinum blade, Yaqi Rainbow w/ pony synth brush, Moon Soaps Amaretto soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe blend, Ogalalla Bay Rum & Sandalwood AS, and Royall Muske to finish!

Corona Virus Official Day 239:

Already at work, just didn’t have the time to make my post earlier.

Great hot shower and warm shave. The last couple days and probably for the rest of the winter season I’ll be keeping the shaves on the warm water side. The warmer lather process suits the Amaretto very nicely.

Nights have been pretty cold and days will be following suit. Some slightly higher elevation areas just a couple hours away got some light snow yesterday which was surprising, though it didn’t stick much.

Public health things are quickly trending towards our state/county/city taking a step backward in the “phase” status. We expect to hear new guidelines in that regard very soon...just in time for the holidays, wonderful...

Wife got an update on her grandmother last night. Not looking as positive as it was a couple weeks ago, in fact much worse. That situation is deteriorating very swiftly now for some reason, so the family is stopping the cancer therapy and may be bringing in Hospice within the week. My FIL urged my wife to try and go see her this week if possible. She hasn’t decided if the kids should be brought or if it might be too traumatic for them; Big Grammy no longer looks like the Big Grammy they know in their minds.

Bit of a downer to start off the week. Hope things shake out better as we move along through it!

Have a great Monday all!

Praying for you and the Fam Chris.

Sorry to hear about Grammy Chris. That is certainly a very tough choice in regard to the kids.

Your family is in my prayers.

Shave #315 (452 Open Blade Shaves) of 2020:

Gear: RR GC .68 SB, Bic Chrome Platinum blade, Stirling 2-band synth brush, Stirling Hipster soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe blend, Stirling Hipster AS, and Intoxicated Killian clone oil to finish!

Corona Virus Official Day 240:

Up n at em for round 2!

Got a little more sleep last night, so the wake up wasn’t quite as bleary eyed. Still took in the GC for the shave though. I think Stirling will be popping up slightly more as the cold weather sets in, Hipster is probably the coolest feeling scent I have from them but Agar and Christmas Eve are nice for cold weather.

The missus’ family has been in close communication over the last day. I think I understood the doctor’s/Hospice’s prognosis for her Grammy to be “come see her now”, slim chance she’ll make Thanksgiving. So she’ll be heading out for a day visit today. Decided (and it was partially the kids’ opinion too) that the kids did not need to go. I think it’s the right choice for this time.

Have a great Tuesday all!

I’m a bit late in reading yesterday’s post. Sorry to hear about Big Grammy. Your family will be in our prayers.

Shave #316 (452 Open Blade Shaves) of 2020:

Gear: Schick L injector, Schick blade, Yaqi Rainbow w/ pony synth brush, Zingari The Soloist soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe blend, and CC Venture AS to finish!

Corona Virus Official Day 241:

Nice bit of a sleep in this morning before getting up to handle some chores. DIDNT have to mow the lawn today at least, the grass growth since two weeks ago was minimal given the influx of cold weather. I did fill up the bin with clippings though and cleaned the gutters in expectation of some rains that may or may not pass this weekend. Then took the MIL’s car, that we’ve been car sitting the last week while she’s visiting her father in WA, to fill up the tires as they were super low. Had a sit down brunch at home with the missus too, which was nice!

The star of today’s shave was a lathering of Zingari Man The Soloist. I smeared half the sample Paul sent into my ceramic bowl (that usually sits collecting dust and holding random shave stuff 😂) and went to town with a nice, extended load. The lather worked up beautifully and easily, much as The Healers does. The scent though is not as in your face as the Fruity Pebbles-ish scent of Healers...Soloist is very subtle, slightly muted, but very masculine IMO. I don’t really get the alcohol vibe but the sharpness of the pink peppercorn and mellow tobacco drift in and out of awareness. Very nice...and no irritation to speak of as far as the soap was concerned (though I don’t think I had any reactions the first couple times I used Healers either). Looking forward to spending the next couple days with this sample! The Schick L didn’t behave so well for me sadly. When it came to the mustache area, I got a couple nicks, which it seems to do randomly. I think this Schick blade is relatively fresh even. Weird.

Rest of the day is fairly hang out/family time since everyone has the day off.

Our county is back in Purple tier sadly...so it’s back to outdoor/streaming services. Given the weather, it’s thought that on campus gatherings will be fairly poorly attended. Oh well 🤷‍♂️

Hope you’re all having a great Wednesday! Thank you to all the vets for your service!

Awesome, glad you had a good start Chris. Hopefully it keeps up. You should get a few shaves from half that tub.

I'm surprised you didn't get the boozy scent. I couldn't detect any peppercorn, persey, but I definitely got boozy and tobacco. Amazing how we all smell things a little different.
