Gear: “The Old Crow” Koken Army & Navy SR, E2 Fatboy, Rapira blade (5), RR Big Bruce, Jeeves of Hudson St: Turkish Bath (Barbershop), CC Venture to close.
Marvelous shave today!
The missus trimmed my hair up today, I was starting to look like a puff ball on the sides of my head; it was long overdue.
Simply wet the face for a few minutes for prep. Today I bloomed and super loaded the JoHS, per KJ’s recommendation. He is a big proponent of these soaps, so it would make sense to try and enjoy them in a similar way! It worked!
Previously this soap for me was good, well above average and I thoroughly enjoy the scent, but it was not top shelf. Taking KJ’s advice on loading really bumped it up performance wise to first class! I can see this working for Sudsy Soapery as well, which has a very similar quality to me.
The shave was great, easy first 2 passes with the Old Crow and a highly enjoyable finish with the Fatboy. My SR/shavette practice has been paying off in spades in-shave.
A healthy dose of burn when I massaged in the Venture, but otherwise a solid BBS/DFS.
Today is a little break from the heat thankfully. We’ll be spending most of the evening a a friend’s block party - BBQ, water balloon fights, contests, fireworks, and good fun.

Going back to using a DE during the shaves.
Gear: Feather AC SS, Pro blade (2), Gillette Slim, Rapira blade (6), RR Big Bruce, TOBS Sandalwood, and homemade Brut AS decant to close.
I loaded the TOBS with a vengeance and was rewarded with oodles of silky lather. The first passes with the Feather were as smooth as ever. For me, the Slim is quite unlike the Fatboy...it has a bit more bite and blade feel to it; I forgot that for some reason today! The last pass with it, ATG, was a bit rough and resulted in some scraping and irritation. It’s calmed down though within the last hour following my post shave routine.
Yesterday was a grand time with friends and family, enjoying food, games, contests, and good company. I think I gained a few pounds from stuffing my face! We were all quite wiped and slept well.
I wrote my will and then confessed to the missus this morning about my razor indiscretion yesterday. She seemed to be OK with it...surprisingly. I’ll still be holding my breath a bit for the next week, waiting for some act or retribution, lol.
3 shifts until Sunday! Short weeks are the best and worst!

Continuing the good shaves. 22 from one blade; not bad.
I just counted and I have 20 on my Noonan since I refreshed it last. I don't know how far I can go before it needs a refresh, but it felt fine this morning so I'll just keep using it until it doesn't, I guess.
Oh, and that football gif cracks me up.

My original SR is still going strong as well. I’d have to dig to see when the last refresh was and how many shaves since, but I do know it’s been months.
