Good read Chris...we're having the same issues with our daughters...they want to veg out on their tablets all the time instead of engaging their imaginations.

Great shave Chris!

Agree keep at it with the kids. Children today need to learn more of the ways that we were brought up!

Thanks guys! It’s definitely frustrating. There are days I’m tempted to give them an empty soup can and keep them outside for some early 1900s fun. Lol. Then there’s some days they just play at the park across the street for hours on end, no prompting.

Children!

Shave #111:

My Wednesday, your Thursday!

Gear: Feather AC SS, Pro blade (13), RR Big Bruce, TOBS Sandalwood, and Pinaud Classic decant mixture to close.

Another 3 pass day. TOBS lather came out a bit above average. The glycerin in there really slicks things up, but does make it a bit tough to skin stretch some times. No issues holding a razor, but I do keep having to make sure my hands are dry for the stretching otherwise my skin just slips right back out of my grip.

Did really well cleaning up under the chin today...yes I’ll admit, I chased a little! Solid results though, about 90% BBS with DFS elsewhere.

In other things, the garden produced its first zucchinis over the last week. It’s amazing how fast they grew to full size once the plant was ready. Literally less than a week for two zucchinis to go from about an inch to near a foot long. They are delicious too, waaaay better than store bought! Even one of our picky eaters gobbled some up with ranch and asked for more.

It’s going to be a pretty dead day at work I think. Which is good in a way, because there’s a lot of things that need deeper attention from when we can’t get to them during busier days - pressure washing, carpet cleaning, out of reach windows, etc. These days do tend to drag though...here’s hoping not too much!

Nice entry Chris! Awesome to hear that the garden is coming along...always nice when you can just go out back for some fresh produce!

Always love hearing about great gardens!
Glad that your garden is starting to produce. Nothing beats fresh from the garden.

Thank you gentlemen! The missus and I are quite pleased indeed.

We’ve also go some watermelon going, tomatoes, strawberries, blueberries, lemons, peaches...it’s going to be a fun harvest I hope!

The game is afoot! In regards to the newest shipment of RR Game Changers that is. I’m excited to try my luck at beating out the shaving horde for a barberpole style GC!

Joe has 600 units in, they’ve gone through a facelift on the baseplate (which is supposedly purely aesthetic), and they look as outstanding as ever.

I’m still curious as to why the base plate change so soon, perhaps to differentiate it from the Mamba a bit more. But it is interesting there is essentially a “version 2” a little over a month after first release. I do think the change must affect the shave slightly, they’ve essentially set where the handle seats into the baseplate (which appears a tad thinner with the in-set) a bit more inward, which I think would affect the balance and weight a bit.

At this point though, I’m still a hopeful buyer. And there’s still a promised second (I guess 3rd really) baseplate to come down the line later. This is one of the reasons I’m goin for the HC over the Mamba at this time, in addition to the GC’s slightly increased blade feel.

Wonder how many of that 600 have already been released for international buyers in that surprise drop. I had a CG with Barber Pole and felt it was less efficient and harsher feeling then my Rockwell 6s so sold it. Hope you get the model you want and it's exactly what you expect.

Bummer it didn’t work out for you. I know the Mamba has its cult following, but I am afraid it would be far too mild. I have a pre-war Tech and I love it, but I’d not want anything more mild. I may change my mind if it doesn’t indeed work out and try for a trade to a Mamba. Idk.

There are actually still GCs available at this very moment, I could get one, but since they don’t have the handle I want, I’d feel like I’m settling just to have it.

Just get one. You'll know whether you like the shave and can always just buy a barber pole handle later if you decide to keep it. If you decide you don't care for the shave, you can still sell it fairly quick while the craze is in full force. Just a thought.

I did have that thought...but that would mean more money spent down the line; my frugality won’t let it be so, lol!

Understood. A penny saved is a penny earned. I haven't always spent as I have recently. Just able to splurge a little recently and now narrowing down what illIbe keeping so will recoup some of past spendings. Just in time to go down another rabbit hole probably.....

Shave #112:

Repeat shave! I realized I did not plan well yesterday with my AS choice, since in fact today is Friday, which of course means Clubman!

So same set set up as yesterday, thoug the Pro blade is obviously at (14) now, no stropping except to dry, and I only did a 2 pass (WTG and ATG/XTG). Yesterday’s shave was good enough to warrant such a shave. I messed up the lather a bit by not loading enough and adding a bit too much water (is either possible with TOBS? I thought not, but apparently so...).

The cause of this issue is that as the remainder of my TOBS quickly diminishes, it is smoothing out into a donut and drying slightly. Thus it is beginning to load a little bit more like a croap than a cream. I did not take that into account this morning.

Good shave though! Mostly BBS with areas of DFS here n there.

Happy Friday y’all.

In other things, I ended up missing a surprise small release of RR GCs aimed at international folks. I could have easily picked up one with his newer handles...but that’s not what I want! There’s still one more chance this batch though either today or tomorrow.

Looking forward to wrapping up the work week tomorrow. This week has kinda dragged. I did get confirmation that next week is the music camp at church, so that will definitely have me busy then! This year’s theme is the figure of Esther, being titled “Esther Ordinary Faith”. Sounds good!

Another nice shave Chris...over watering sometimes happens, but sounds like you got a good shave all the same! Nice gif, btw...great album!
