If you have to do something...

Wow! A straight razor sighting! Awesome.

Glad you had better success with it this time around. You should bust it out every once in a while, just for fun.

Haha! I was pretty surprised at the results, that’s for sure! I’ll defin be bringing it out occasionally.

Hoping the weekend brings you a little rest and relaxation.

Thanks Don! I do work a full shift tomorrow to set up for services Sunday and I’m also on-duty chaplain during Sunday services, but after that I certainly hope for a little.

Shave #106:

Just did a 2 pass today to see how it'd go. Haven’t tried one for over a week. Who’d want to have to give up luxuriating in shaving an extra pass, right?!

I did one XTG pass and one ATG/XTG-combo pass. Shaving every day I could get away with this. Results were par for the course, perhaps a little less removal on the upper lip.

Today was: Feather AC SS, Pro blade, RR Big Bruce, TOBS Sandalwood cream, and classic Pinaud decant mixture to finish.

Looking forward to tomorrow’s non-TOBS shave; I’ll probably do At least partial DE too.

In other things, I’m back to what should be a normal work day. Nothing major is happening beyond set up for church tomorrow.

We saw my father-in-law off to Australia last night. I mentioned that he runs an annual hula festival, but his normal “job”, besides being an entrepreneur, is being a master craftsman of feather work. He’s just about the only person on the planet that can do what he does, making feather leis, capes, and helmets in an ultra traditional, pretty much lost, method for the Hawaiian community. He’s had works commissioned all over the world and travels back to Hawaii quite often to work as an artist in residence. My wife and I are hoping one of our boys takes interest in his work and carries it on.

Happy Saturday all!

Catching up again Chris!

Some great shaves and reads!

I know the feeling about work! I've pretty much always worked maintenance and some days you feel like you are going in 5 different directions. Others just suck! LOL

Great shave. Interesting story about your father-in-law, too.
Good shave today Chris! That's some awesome stuff with your FIL...

Thanks Randall and Josh!

Thanks Craig. Yep, I do custodial work. Always have to stay a few steps ahead!

Shave #107:

Gear: Feather AC SS, Pro blade, FaTip Piccolo, Rapira blade, Cella, and CC Venture to finish.

Today kinda counts towards the SR/shavette totals - whipped up a deliciously slick lather with the Cella and got to at least one WTG pass with the Feather; then I heard the call out from the wife for the kids to pick up the pace. So, I did the last two passes with the Piccolo. This is hands down my most efficient DE and also my most aggressive DE by a mile. Gives a fantastic shave but you have to give it the respect it deserves. Needless to say, a little irritation from the need to move things along, but an easy BBS for sure.

Applied some heavy dashes of Venture, I’m fresh and ready to roll!

In other things, Happy Father’s Day to all the dads and father figures! Today is church. I did have to wake up at about 5 am to take the oldest to meet with his youth group as they head off to Hume San Diego camp for the week. It’ll be the first time for a long trip (over 8 hours away) like this away from home for him, he was excited though. The missus runs the coffee bar this morning between services. I get to be chaplain on duty and help with Sunday school.

I had part of my Father’s Day last night after I got home from work, where I got my obligatory card and also one of my favorite meals...a heaping bowl of homemade fried rice! Hopefully relaxation to follow this evening.

Happy Sunday!

Nice one Chris! I've gotten the "hurry up" call a few times when I was home as well. LOL. Have a great Father's Day!

Nice shave yesterday. Those Piccolo's are beasts! I own one, but don't use it as much as I should.

I've always been curious about those Piccolo razors, but not sure if I'd like the level of aggressiveness.

Shave #108:

Back to work on the TOBS!

Today was: Feather AC SS, Pro blade, RR Big Bruce, TOBS Sandalwood, and Pinaud Classic decant mix to seal the deal.

I just reviewed through my log to see how long I’ve been using this Pro blade, seems to be 10ish, with the majority of those being 3 pass shaves. Still feels pretty good right now and I haven’t done any stropping on it except to dry the blade while it’s still in the holder. I think this one will make 15+ easily.

Anyway, 3 pass today. Results consistent with the past week, except a little more left under the chin this time. Consistency is good though, it’s what I want just as much as good results!

I did a cool shave today to normalize after some late morning yard work. Normally I do warm to hot water prep and shaves, I very seldom to cold or cool, or even room temp. There are two things I don’t like about cool shaves: I feel like it doesn’t prep/hydrate the face as well and then I find that it’s harder to feel the blade on your skin, which could potentially be disastrous for open blade users. The benefits of cool water shaves I like are: less overall chance for irritation and it’s simply more refreshing!

The shave went good though today, I must admit!

In other things yesterday was just a full and exhausting morning, so we pretty much came home and vegged our the rest of the afternoon after church. I did offer to and did end up helping the missus finish arranging the boys’ bedroom furniture from their room swap. I know it was something she wanted to get done quickly from last week so the house didn’t stay in disarray too long. That took a couple of hours. Then we had an easy dinner and movie night at home. Good, lazy Sunday to close Father’s Day.

(I just realized how insanely accurate that meme is, given the actor...)

Its been much more calm an quiet with the oldest gone at camp. This morning, instead of the usual 7am self-wake up, the younger boys didn’t even come out of their room till 9! The missus left a bit earlier in the morning to attend a good friends father’s funeral out of town. I stayed home and am getting some other chores done around the house. The things a day off consists of when you have to “adult”...lol!
