If you have to do something...

The only soap or cream I have ever finished was a tub of TOBS Mr. Taylor .

Im kind of on the fence about replacing it (their Sandalwood). I may go for the Peppermint or another company entirely. It’s really a brainless lather and decent slickness, but there’s just some small thing about it that makes me hesitate when I think about a reorder, not sure what.

Nice shave Chris!

Thanks!

Shave #87:

Today was a 3 pass shave salute to our fallen for Memorial Day.

I don’t have many military related items, but I did what I could.

The main components of my shave were Jeeves of Hudson St.: Turkish Bath (a vet owned company) and my E2 Fatboy (putting it at 1959, when ‘Nam would officially start). I thought about using the prewar Fat Handled Tech, but I craved some heft today.

First pass WTG was with the Feather. Reduction was pretty decent today, though I seem to have still hung on to my heavy handedness from the last few shaves. I did get 2 small cuts but didn’t bleed long.

The XTG and ATG were done effortlessly with the Fatboy. There is just something about this razor that is perfect for me. It is way smoother than my Slim but has the same efficiency. That heft and extra head geometry just work. If they weren’t so darn expensive, I might grab some backups. I’m sure I will eventually, till then I’ll baby this one lol!

End result was an easy peezy BBS. Finished off with some AOS Sandalwood preshave oil and AS balm, and some Mary Kay Velocity for Him.

Thank you to our present vets and active duty as present representatives of those who serve. Prayers for the fallen.

Travel shave today! My travel kit needs a little bit more work.

My main tools were the RR BS, my Feather SS, La Toja shave stick, and my Body Shop shave brush.

Shave came out decently with a simple 2 pass. La Toja makes things so easy on the soap side.

The Body Shop brush (it’s a cheap synthetic) may have to go though. I think using the RR Big Bruce has spoiled me, the BS Brush just seemed super scritchy, stiff, and harsh on the skin. It did not help much in the lather process.

The Feather and RR BS did their job admirably all things considered.

In other news, the day with my parents went well, just them, us, and the kids for a nice BBQ and relaxed evening of conversation. Spent the night at the inlaws for round two today with my wife’s side of the family.

We did get to sneak out without the kids to go preview/see Solo before we take the kids, something we try to do more and more lately before the kids see anything, you just never know what’s going to pop up in even a PG film these days.

The movie was OK, had a lot of potential but was overall kind of flat. It didn’t feel anything like what the early trailers portrayed with the spaghetti western-ish gunslinging and hotshot pilot stuff. The actor choices really fit their roles well, there were a few good sections, some good cameos, but overall the pace was blah. It was true for the most part to its place in the film time line and the various stories already established. I think the one other saving grace was getting to see Emilia Clarke on screen for 2 hours.

Anyway, happy Monday! Hope your holiday weekends closes out well.

I saw bottom today! The bottom of my TOBS tub that is. It is by far the oldest soap in my collection, having stuck around for about 3 years from just after I first started traditional shaving. I pondered the choice...do I power through it and use the tub to house my Tabac puck or do I continue just to keep it in rotation? Choices, choices. I still have too many soaps to justify buying a new one. I may just power through it. It’s a great cream and still works pretty well...I just don’t know!

Power through it, it's more manly to power through than tiptoe around. ?

Chris, sounds like the Travel Shave turned out as travel shaves do...a jib well done but nothing special. The BBQ with the family sounds nice. Thanks for the confirmation on Solo...I have heard much the same with my friends also. Have a great day!

Good Read and to know TabacaVeg is to love TabacaVeg it is Life

Lol WTH? That is hilarious!

Always feels nice to 3017 something, LOL

And did you really just use that term right there? LOL

Yep, I think I’m going to power through it, I may even be a little wasteful with my loading...

Nice shave. Definitely ditch the Body Shop brush.

Most likely I will. The issue will be to replace it. I’d prefer not to bring my Big Bruce traveling, or my natural hair brushes either. I may need to pick up a regular Bruce or other smaller synth.
Good couple of shaves Chris!

Glad to hear the trip went well!

It was good, thanks!

Yep the kit served its purpose! The trip was tiresome but good.

As for Solo, I think my kids will like it and it had some good moments, so we’ll probably end up taking them to see it anyway.

SR/shavette shave #89:

Back at home and faced with a slowly fading tub of TOBS Sandalwood, so I did a 3 pass today.

The Feather SS took the WTG and XTG. I stayed true to the pass directions for the most part. I do notice that I’m naturally favoring 2 XTG (one a certain direction, then the second reversed direction) passes on the chin area than a WTG and XTG. It removes all the difficulties of rounding the chin on the WTG pass.

As for the actual XTG pass, I haven’t settled on a favorite direction (ear to nose or nose to ear), so I usually just go with what strikes my fancy.

For the ATG and cleanup today, I selected my Slim. It was fairly smooth (not as nice as the Fatboy though) but I think it’s time to swap out the Astra blade in a shave or two. I had a moderate amount of irritation and I think it was from the last pass.

No cuts or nicks today thankfully! I’m going to make a shave pledge today though. This week is going to be an odd one with the missus gone Fri/Sat. I had to request the day off Friday to take care of the children but I’ll also have no one to impress and will be largely removed from society a good chunk of the morning, so...I vow to bust out the Tabac for a shave and finish off with my decanted Veg! If I don’t post anything Saturday, you’ll know I succumbed to the cat spray fumes!

In other things, yesterday I got to watch Avengers: Infinity War finally! It was a redeeming experience after Solo, lol. Epically great movie, very difficult storytelling that was navigated fairly decently. Really, really, really heavy plot line though with all that occurs. I’m excited to see where the franchise heads from here and how loose ends resolve in the individual character-focused films slated for the coming year. Also very excited at the post credit scene!
