If you have to do something...

Hmmm..... Spicy Clubman and Spicy Brut... You may be on to something.... you know there is the legendary story that a young Fairy in the Land of Brits was cleaning up her Hovel which included a rather smelly cat box. She also came across a package that appeared to be from the Lost City of Atlantis that read Urinal Puck. She mixed it with some Lilac water, Brussel Sprouts and some Spirulina juice and POOF Lilac Vegetal. The Mystical Elixir of Life and prime ingredient in TabacaVeg.... The Veg of the Future

So don't discount your discovery, it could become legendary........ LOL

Nice read Chris

Lol!

Catching up, and two pics intrigued me:

(1) the DE hone was quite interesting.
(2) the Veg decant was horrifying! LOL

I still haven’t tried the decant, I just can’t bring myself to do it. Though I have uncapped it a few times to take a whiff. The scent is still strong, but the decent definitely changed it about 0.00000000000000000001% closer to the pleasant side.

I prefer to buy full products rather than samples. The problems you had with today's lather is one good reason why. It is hard to get a proper hate-load from a sample container.

Good shave regardless.

I also prefer to go all in, after making careful, well researched choices of course. Still I usually don’t have a problem with samples. Perhaps part of the problem is that the smaller size dries out more quickly. The samples I’ve had issues with were a bit flakey/paste-y.

LOL! I have a bottle that has been in "decant" mode for almost a year - still not "ready"!

IRT Esther's, it just was not as good a base as Stiring, which is my baseline soap. So unless the scent WOW's me, I generally pass. That's not to say it's a bad soap...just not puck worthy, for me at least.

Totally understandable!

I'm not a big B&M guy...and I really can't remember why. But it might have had something to do with the lather. Sorry it didn't work out...but there are many more out there.

Thanks Don! I agree, we live in a wonderful time for this passion.

Open blade shave #83:

I didn’t realize how good testerday’s shave actually was until I got up this morning. I was still DFS/CCS!

Today was a good shave overall given the fact that I didn’t have much work to do and that I gave myself a sizable cut.

Today’s soap was the classic staple, Cella. One day I’ll give Vitos and Valobra a try, but I’m for certain right now that Cella never disappoints!

Just a quick 2 pass today with the Feather and Tech. It was actually the Tech though that gave me the battle wound. I was feeling mighty comfortable whipping it around on my cleanup and slice, I got a good half inch weeper on the chin. Yes friends it’s true, even the playful Tech puppy can bite if mishandled! I’ll be wearing that trophy for a few days!

My daily use of the Tech in the last week (even with today’s mishap) has really pushed me closer to wanting to look into a RR Game Changer. The virtues of a mild and decently efficient razor are inestimable! I’ve put myself on the notification list and been checking the site regularly. Hopefully a new batch will coincide with the next pay day!

Good shave today. I am not a fan of the scent on Cella... too sweet. But the performance is excellent.

I thought my mild of mildest razors, The Grand Shave King, was so mild it couldn't cut you. Until it cut me.

Great couple of shaves and reads Chris sans the bite today!

I recently just used Cella for the 1st time and agree that it is great soap, if you like the scent and I did!

I too fell into that trap of mild razor = no cuts with my ball end techs I used to have...prior to getting cut!

Good shave though outside of that, Chris!

Shave #84:

Face was pretty CCS still today, but I did a 3 pass anyway since today’s soap choice was...Proraso Green, oh yeah!

Keep seeing it pop up on a certain someone’s journal and I haven’t used it in a while, and I’ve got a whole backup tube from Dave now, so I figured “Why the heck not?”

Methol kick was great, Vick’s vaporub medicinal scent was great, slickness was pretty decent, follow up Green balm was perfect closer. Good shave today.

Thankfully no scrapes or cuts this time, oh I was mindful...especially around yesterday’s slice. It was a little tender but didn’t open up or hurt too bad, so I was able to do a full shave.

Half way through my work week, well I will be, which is always exciting!

Proraso and Cella are like shave den staples. I had the Cella tub and didn't find it stellar but i ended up with a cut off the larger block and it is quite nice. I don't find the scent strong enough to complain about but i think it can best be described as cherry cola...strange because it is an almond oil scent (maybe amaretto).

i think the only old school scent I am not pleased with is Arko stick. I had one stick that was so faded I couldn't understand what people complained about, then i got a fresh one ...good God was/is it awful. The scent actually gives me headaches. Arko makes some decent creams, they smell like a traditional barbershop scent.

The secret to decanting lilac vegetol is to leave a fair amount of empty space at the top of the bottle. Shake the bottle every so often and open it to let out some of the old stank. The air gap at the top allows magical changes to occur and the occasional venting helps remove the more undesirable scents to dissipate. It may seem odd but Tabac and the Veg really to play nice together.

Viva La TABACAVEG
