Catching up from being way behind Chris!

The water only shave made me cringe!

Otherwise great reads and shaves!

Glad to hear your meeting went well!

Shave #81:

Another busy day, with errands and yard work, well the first half of the day anyway, leaving only time to do a little 2 pass for SAS/CCS.

Today’s soap was First Canadian Shave’s: Esther’s Peppermint & Grapefruit, and what a pleasant, refreshing choice it was! Perfect way to clean up after doing the duties.

First off it is a tallow soap, which already puts it in a good spot in my book, and on top of that it is a mentholated soap (which I suspected given the peppermint title, but had not checked ingredients) which is another bonus. If anyone likes the performance of Proraso Green, but doesn’t like the more medicinal smell, Ether’s might be the soap for you! The menthol kick is just a tad under Green’s with the nice hint of fruity/sweet grapefruit. The slickness and lather is probably a couple notches above Green.

Haapy Monday all!

Catching up again Chris, all great reads, glad things went well with the Church

Nice write up Chris! I've used Esther's before, and while the scent was nice, I wasn't too impressed with the soap so I passed on a full tub. I agree though, that it is a great alternative to Proraso!

Oh really? What did you find unappealing about it?

Shave #82:

Today’s soap of choice was Barrister’s Reserve: Classic. The soap smelled really decent out of the sample container, and I saw that it is a sandalwood type soap, but it just didn’t not develop well I’m afraid. The lathered-up scent was hard to describe. It was kind of like a RR Santal Royale, something English/French court-like, a perfume-y attemptvat sophistication, but it didn’t reach the same level.

Some of that might have been my portion size I used for lathering. I felt like I used enough, but I just barely had enough for 3 passes and I literally had to milk every last bit out of the brush. My shave was no longer than normal, but the lather fell flat after the 2nd pass and I had difficulty working it back up a bit, obviously because there was much less product to work with!

The shave itself was fine. No nicks or cuts to speak of. I did a 2 1/2 pass with the Feather and Tech, easily obtaining my BBS in spite of my lather.

Today I also had to remove the flow limiters off of my Clubman decant and homemade Brut AS decant. They were starting to pick up some of the hot sauce scent I couldn’t completely get out of the plastic, despite the hour they soaked in various cleaning solutions. I don’t think the splashes are ruined thankfully.

Back to work today. Man that time off flies by!

Hmmm..... Spicy Clubman and Spicy Brut... You may be on to something.... you know there is the legendary story that a young Fairy in the Land of Brits was cleaning up her Hovel which included a rather smelly cat box. She also came across a package that appeared to be from the Lost City of Atlantis that read Urinal Puck. She mixed it with some Lilac water, Brussel Sprouts and some Spirulina juice and POOF Lilac Vegetal. The Mystical Elixir of Life and prime ingredient in TabacaVeg.... The Veg of the Future

So don't discount your discovery, it could become legendary........ LOL

Nice read Chris

Catching up, and two pics intrigued me:

(1) the DE hone was quite interesting.
(2) the Veg decant was horrifying! LOL

I prefer to buy full products rather than samples. The problems you had with today's lather is one good reason why. It is hard to get a proper hate-load from a sample container.

Good shave regardless.

If you like the pics of that one, then I will have to post pics of my collection one of these days.
