Herritage Collections Gibbs Clone

The Gibbs continues to perplex me. Today I decided to push it..... all the way up to 5! This seemed crazy to me. The shave? didn't feel any more aggressive or any more blade feel than when I set it to a 4. And oddly enough, I had a more comfortable and better shave than when I had it set to a 4. That's what I don't understand. THis is still not a setting I would use on a daily basis, but it's just helping to prove it's case that this really is an amazing razor. Starting to want one now (and not just the Heritage version). Although, if I got the heritage, and found it to be equal to this in shave, I'd definitely be content with that.

Me too but seeing the price they go for has me 😕

EXACTLY. For some reason when adjusted above 4 the shaves are more efficient as expected yet the smoothness is not compromised which is where the modern clone, Rex Ambassador, just can't compete (from what I have been told). The Gibbs is a better adjustable (ie smoother and efficient) than the FatBoy/Slim yet many have never heard of it despite it's even longer history - I guess good ol' American centrism even permeates the world of DE razors. If you can find one they are not cheap so if this Heritage comes out at a competitive price we all can enjoy it.

Was just reading about it on another forum. They fix the blade issue. The tube still appears to be a plastic but I don't know. What concerns me is in the video, Heritage says and shows a side by side comparison, "the heads a little bigger" and "we're trying to get it as close to original as possible". I love the appearance and copying the looks is great, but if it doesn't shave the same it falls short as that is where it is at for me in trying the Gibbs.

I don’t understand why this is not just a reverse-engineered Gibbs with modifications to the top cap and base to accept all DE blades. Perhaps it’s too expensive to reproduce at the price point?

Isn’t that what this is??

Clearly not as they state the head is bigger.....
Reverse Engineering doesn’t mean you’re going to end up with an indistinguishable copy. Sometimes slight changes are necessary. Honestly, I wouldn’t care how different it looked, as long as the shave results are the same.
