Herritage Collections Gibbs Clone

I am really interested in this razor if you can use regular DE blades with it

For me, the main draw to the Gibbs clone is that you can use standard de blades. Heritage is saying it’s an exact replica except you can now use regular blades.

I’ve been checking multiple times per day since I first learned of the project hoping to see it ready for sale.

Thanks for the info on the Gibbs. So is it mild or aggressive? Does it compare to a Gillette Fatboy?

On its lowest setting I would compare it to a 3 on the Fatboy on its highest setting it competes with many of the most efficient modern razors and it stays very smooth. My only complain on the original was having to modify the blades then fidgeting with them to make sure they lined up.

By efficient, you mean aggressive? To me, mild razors are the most efficient.

I don’t think it is aggressive at all. I used my Gibbs tonight after all this talk about it and it’s still the smoothest razor I have used.
Before I got the Gibbs I was using a Fatboy on setting 3-4 for the most part. I ended up selling it after about a week of having the Gibbs (although I do regret selling it I bit).
I don’t get much blade feel at all and it’s far smoother at the higher settings and I’ve yet to notice any blade chatter anywhere in its range.
If you’re interested in giving one a go I’d be willing to loan it out to you for a week or two.

Yes, absolutely! Thanks.

Efficient to me means most beard reduction in the fewest strokes, Aggressive is how it feels on my face where smooth would be the opposite of aggressive.
I see, I just don’t like the term efficient, because it’s so subjective. Whenever I see someone say efficient, I find out they are usually talking about an aggressive razor.

Personally, I find most razors shave equally as efficient. The difference for me is comfort. Aggressive or high amount of blade feel results in a not comfortable shave.

I take this view as well. I can get BBS with almost any razor, but it view it as more efficient if it does it with less irritation or alum sting afterwards. More hair reduction with less skin reduction. Kinda like more miles per gallon.

All things being equal, i.e., good soap/cream & good prep, a razor that cuts closer will always cause more irritation than one that does not cut as close for the same amount of passes IF YOU ARE PRONE to such. Myself, if I use a razor that is more "aggressive" then I can easily run into trouble in certain facial areas as well as any ATG shaving.

I think the most ridiculous word in shavedom jargon is "efficient". Cars, employees (sometimes), and appliances can be efficient. Razors...........it's all in the blade gap/exposure as it's merely a blade holder.

Efficiency is not based on the end result but how many passes it takes an individual to get there with different razors. For me, as an example, I can get a BBS from a Charcoal Goods level 1 or 3. The level 1 requires 3 full passes plus touchup where as the level 3 takes 2 passes. Definition of efficiency the state or quality of being efficient, or able to accomplish something with the least waste of time and effort;

Mark, it's been awhile since I last knew, but is the RS10 still the king of "efficiency & smoothness" simultaneously for you?

I'm curious to see if these Gibbs clones approach to that level.

My RS10 Ti is still my best combo of smoothness and efficiency for me but many new razors this year have come real close. The original Gibbs is definitely in the same league but I just hated having to cut blades and then manually line them up these new Heritage razors May fix that.
