Happy Friday Cadre, made it through another week! Not a lot on the docket for this weekend which is a welcomed change. Few small projects, including getting our exterior furniture and screens put away as our roof is getting replaced starting Monday. Think I might need to head into the office while that's happening as I don't imagine myself being productive when it's ridiculously loud in the house from the roofers. Definitely a massive house expense that isn't really any fun at all, but wanted to get it done before we had any real issues since the roof is original to the house from 1990. Second layer of shingles were added at some point so it's time for a tear-off. Sigh. At least we knew it was going to come when we bought the house.

With the drought only extending here in Chicagoland and temps continuing in 90s for the foreseeable future, it was time to retire the faux-3017 of TOBS Mr. Taylor and bring out the summertime creams I'm hoping to kill this summer. Think I'm going to continue the product combo train and mix up my various citrus creams with the Gillette Pure, at least in the near team. Up first was Palmolive Refreshing Lemon out of India. This tube came back with me from India and has a manufactured date of December 2014. Talk about withering in the bottom of the den! Still lathers up extremely well and smells, well, like lemon! Straightforward scent, a little industrial, but still enjoyable in the summer. Not anywhere near as strong as the lemon-y citronella I get on Arko that's for sure. Mixed with the minor menthol and peppermint scent from the Gillette Pure and it was a great combo. 37c loaded up with the Lab Blue on its 97th shave had no issues mowing down two days of growth either. Chased with some Osage/Skin Bracer mix and I was cooled off and ready to tackle this final work day of the week!

Happy Monday, Cadre! Hope you had a great weekend. Ours was fairly relaxed, did a few small things around the house, brought in all the exterior furniture into the garage and heavy items off shelves inside as our roof is being replaced today. I headed downtown to the office as I would not have been able to get much done at home with all the noise. They had already started tearing off at 6:30 when I headed to the train and even that was louder than I had expected! Not a fun way to spend a lot of money but will bring both of us a nice peace of mind.

Shaves this weekend were all lovely, very much feeling the summertime shaves and looking forward to knocking out the three citrus creams this summer. Tomorrow will be the 100th shave on the Personna Lab Blue from the February One Blade Challenge so will need to dial up something special I think!

@GearNoir I wish I had control over it, but I'm guessing they start as early as possible to try and get as much done during the cooler hours. Said they should be done in one day which is extremely impressive for a tear off! Would have been worried that it was rushed but this is the same company multiple family members have used with great results so helps ease the nerves of such a huge purchase.

Shockingly, the roofers were able to complete the tear off and new roof yesterday. They also replaced the attic power fan and run duct work for the two upstairs bathroom exhaust fans as they previously had just been venting into the attic. Why that was EVER a thing I have no idea, but can very obviously lead to serious mold issues. Gutters should be replaced either tomorrow or Thursday. Looking forward to everything being done that's for sure.

Today was my 100th shave on this particular Lab Blue. Crazy, I know. Started as part of @Spider 's February Blade Challenge and has just kept going, and going, and going!

To celebrate, I broke out the vintage Colgate Barber soap along with some Shulton Old Spice and had a truly great shave. I'm still floored that this DE blade continues to perform, but here we are, with no signs of slowing down anytime soon!

Congrats on your blade usage milestone! I’d say I admire your dedication…but there’s this little tiny piece of me that thinks you’re just plain crazy for trying 😜
At this point I'm really just curious as to how far I can make this little guy go! Blades are SO cheap that I'll revert back to a 5 and done schedule once this one is officially retired but interesting to know how far it can go if really pushed.

When's the last time you took that thing out of the razor and looked at it? I'd be worried about rust, etc..

Hump day! Package from TRC is on the mail truck today for delivery, continue to be blown away by the selection, free shipping, and speed they're able to get stuff out the door. Had a nice little $5 of $20 coupon for Father's Day this past weekend so couldn't say no!

Have an internal interview for a role I'm particularly excited about later this afternoon, but found out there's another extremely qualified individual going for it too. Crossing my fingers, practicing all the normal behavioral interview questions and putting my best foot forward since that's all any of us can do!

Another summertime blend of Palmolive Refreshing Lemon and Gillette Pure creams gave a great shave this morning. Just a great way to use up creams in the den.

Hope the interview went/goes well!
Much appreciated Chris! Interview went extremely well and I definitely put my best foot forward so we'll just have to see how it plays out!

Order from TRC came in yesterday, the new Summer Break Rope Swing soap as well as a stick of LEA to hit the $20 to get $5 off Father's Day offer threshold. So got the LEA stick for free with another $1 off the Rope Swing. Couple that with free shipping and I was a very happy man!

Took the Rope Swing for its first shave this morning and I am definitely a fan. I'm impressed with the Summer Break soap base, it created a slick and yogurt-y lather with minimal effort which is something I demand from my soaps now. Scent profile from the website is dandelion, water, moss, galbanum, juniper, ozone, patchouli, and cedar and described as "opening with a rush of green before settling down into a beautiful mix of dandelion and woodsy elements, with aquatic notes not featured here but instead playing a supporting role." I definitely get the green notes but think it leans a little more into the wood and water/airy notes to my nose which I love. I think they hit the nail on the head in terms of trying to formulate something to emulate jumping into a cold mountain lake. I've never used a product with these new cooling agents, but it was a lovely addition to the lather, with the cold slowly building and lasting throughout the shave and for a few minutes after as well. Not face freezing levels, but a very pleasant amount that didn't make my eyes water. Overall very happy with this purchase and a great addition to the den. Probably leans a little more into a summertime scent but can see myself reaching for it year-round.
