Colognes are so overpriced. This sounds like a good alternative. (y)
Most definitely NOT a cheap rabbit hole to tumble down! Thankfully I'm a pretty frugal guy so will probably be sticking to the cheap ones unless the wife decides to gift something more expensive!

Much wisdom! 😂
Happy Wife, Happy Life Chris!!

Yesterday's shave was so good, just had to repeat the same set up this morning! In reality, it's probably more due to the fact that I had to get out the door this morning and head to the office so grabbing what was already out was a simple decision. But it truly was a great shave yesterday and proved to be again this morning!

Frugal. That's the word I use. Sounds classier than cheap.
"Cheap Polak" is something I've heard pointed at the men in my family from their wives my entire life - frugal is a much nicer way of saying it

Feeling a very "cool blue" shave for the hump day shave this morning. CC Nor'easter is just such a great summertime scent with a nice little menthol blast. Chased with AV Ice Blue and then Classic Match Blue and I was feeling nice and cool for the day!

Wishing a very happy Canada Day to all of our Canadian TSC brothers! Unfortunately I don't have much in the way of Canadian software or hardware in the den, but do have my beloved Canadian Tech so obviously had to break it out for today's shave. Another summertime combo of Gillette Lime and Pure creams, chased with the final remnants of this bottle of 50:50 Osage and Skin Bracer. Don't have any more Skin Bracer but do have half a bottle of Osage so will have to think about making another blend with something else...

Happy Holiday Weekend, Cadre! I took yesterday off last minute to enjoy the beautiful weather and turn the 3 day into a 4 day weekend. Spent 2 hours out in the lawn during the morning since it was in the mid-70s. Absolutely divine. Spent a little time at the local liquor chain and picked up a couple of new bottles, plus a backup of the 2020 Laphroaig Cairdeas for the bunker. In-laws took our son for the night so the wife and I had our first real date night since he was born last May. Went to mini golf, got some pizza at a local favorite, then watched the new Chris Pratt movie on Amazon. It was lovely. Shave yesterday afternoon before date night was on-par. Sea Spice Lime is such a slam dunk. Chased with that Polo Blue dupe which the wife picked up on and said "that's a nice scent." So that bottle is a keeper no doubt!

Heading over to the in-laws later this morning to pick up the little guy, but will spend the afternoon there swimming and grilling out. Will be a nice Saturday!

Long weekend! Woohoo!

Gonna have to go check out that new movie!
I didn't expect more than a summer popcorn flick going in and wasn't disappointed! It's clear that it was originally a big budget studio movie that Amazon bought the rights to. Oscar-worthy? Obviously not. Enjoyable with clear "inspiration" from all kinds of other Sci Fi movies? Yup!

Back to the grind - at least it's a short work week!

Had a wonderful holiday weekend from end-to-end. Saturday afternoon was spent at my in-law's house. My son loves the pool despite being 14 months old and both my BIL and SIL were there as well. MIL made homemade brioche buns and we grilled out for dinner. Sunday was just the 3 of us and we figured out my son isn't afraid of fireworks which was a nice surprise - definitely thought he would be at his age. He goes to bed at 7pm and we woke up up at 8:30 to watch our town's display as we could see it from the street. He watched and smiled and went right back down after the show finished. Easy going guy! One of my good friends who lives down in St. Louis now was back in Chicago for the long weekend with his wife, and they came by yesterday to meet our son for the first time. We went to the neighborhood pool in the afternoon with them and it was so nice for them to finally meet our son after almost a year and a half.

Skipped shaving on Saturday, Sunday was a nice US-themed one for the 4th, and both yesterday and today were the exact same setup - the CBL iColoniali soap is just so good!

Happy Hump Day, Cadre. Next week begins our formal return to office, with 1-2 days per week until Labor Day and then 3 days a week as the "new normal" after Labor Day. Right now the commute is no where near as bad as it was in terms of parking at the train station, so as long as that continues on I don't have much a problem with 3 days downtown. If the parking situation returns to what is was pre-Covid, might be a different story. Time will tell!

Nice and cold "blue" shave this morning. The more I use Rope Swing, the more I love the scent. It's perfect for hot summer days but don't think I'll restrict it as a summetime product and could see using it in both spring and autumn as well. Probably not during the winter as much but who knows.

Is the company going to stay at 3 days in-office permanently? That’s a pretty nice compromise moving forward!
Yes 3 days in the office is the "new normal" for us. Since we were already at 4 days prior to the pandemic with 1 WFH day, I think a lot of people were assuming it was going to be 2 days in the office, 3 days at home. But that's not where they landed and we're expected to be there 3 days a week. It'll be interesting to see how this all plays out since I anticipate the actual implementation is going to be heavily dependent on leadership and management flexibility in terms of if people will actually be coming in 3 days a week or if it settles more towards the 2 days.

As I continued through the various citrus shave creams, I came to realize I wasn't as excited to be using them compared to all of the great soaps I have in the den. Not because of their scents, but just because their performance, although perfectly adequate, just felt very "meh" in comparison to how great soaps have become. So I made the decision to relegate them to shower duty for the wife. She doesn't use a brush or anything but uses a small amount and "lathers" with her hands to get it nice and slick. Not going to waste but no longer part of my shave den.

Another great shave this morning with the CC Nor'easter and RR Hawk. I wish I had picked up the splash, such a great scent. Chased with Shiseido Vintage, a lovely "standard" Japanese splash with strong bergamot and other citrus notes that gives way to some warmer notes on dry down that I pick up as both woody and vanilla. Limited staying power though, so another day of Classic Match Blue. I know Polo Blue kinda smells like almost every generic body wash these days, but I feel like there's a reason for that - it's just such a nice and clean scent. The wife loves it too. I foresee her picking up the real Polo stuff for me in the future because she comments on this dupe so much!
