Fluffy's Curmudgeon Corner

Does that have an unscrewable ferrule? Surgery is easier from the bottom.
I'm pretty sure it's solid/1 piece of Aluminum. It's a Razorock 400. I've seen other "replica" brushes that are made like the originals. And are two pieces. This was not too bad. Steamed it for 30 mins. And the knot pulled out. The epoxy that was left in the handle appears to be their way of setting the loft of the knot. It was not too difficult to chisel it out. Now I just need to wait till my new Badger knot gets here. And then I get to sniff some glue. :sneaky:

Monday’s shave.
This one features an impulse buy.
I’ve seen this Derby soap off and on over the years. And boredom the internet plus PayPal is a dangerous formula. So I present to you Derby Shave Soap. From the exotic land of Turkey??
The Improved Swiss Razor got the call tonight.
The puck of Derby called for a stout brush so Omega boar bristles scoured enough soap out of the fancy waxed paper container. To make a thick creamy lather. I spent extra time whipping it up. And the “unique” scent of this soap filled the bathroom. Not quite sure how to describe it. I’m guessing it may be an acquired taste kind of thing. First impression after one use. It’s better than just water to shave with. You can see where you’ve been with the razor. It probably will keep any biting insects away if you happen to be shaving outdoors near a swamp or landfill.
As I was basking in the luxury of it all. I had an epiphany.
Why should I hog all this goodness to myself?
And since my momma always said that I should share my stuff with my friends. That’s just what I’m gonna do. So tomorrow at the UPS store the first leg of the “Soap Box Derby ” begins.
There will be a new thread in the soap section explaining my vision for this ambitious project.
Check it out. Look forward to seeing your thoughts guys.

Good shave tonight. No pic. Left my phone downstairs and just too dang lazy to go get it.
Chas. R. Coates Barber Supply Ace Razor.
AP Shave Co. Brush
A&E Revolution Soap (Sample from Dave )
Nivea Bourbon Vanilla AS

The Revolution soap is .....wait for it.....SKIPPY! I have a few A&E soaps so I knew the soap base is good. This scent is very nice. Have made up my mind to limit myself to my current quantity of soaps. Which is 30. One soap for every day of a month is enough? Right? So when I use up a soap I have a "Batters Box" list. Hope everybody got over the "hump" in good shape. C'mon Thursday.

Revolution is "Skippy"? Dang, I should have tried it. Ken, now that you are keeping just 30 soaps, it's time to take a serious look at 3017ing them. Doing so allows you to steadily reduce your stock, giving more room for new soaps.

Well Bruce, since I officially diagnosed myself with ADSAD (attention deficit soap acquisition disorder) A person with my affliction is hard pressed to used that same soap day after day. The solution is the 1508.5 system. Researchers at the Mayonnaise Clinic noticed that patients with ADSAD we able to tolerate using the same soap every other day. And still keep their mental happiness score at recommended levels. While using up soaps at a faster than normal pace.
Currently I am in the process of lobbying the current administration to provide funding/grants to research this condition as well as the others that can/have been problematic. For the wet shaving community.
Unfortunately they don’t seem to be taking me seriously. As my background (military, construction and big rig driver)
Supposedly disqualified me from medical research projects. Damn elitist swamp creatures.

Tonight's shave was nice. As well as seeing me try the last of two batches of samples from two super cool dudes. HighSpeed and Dave .
Double Duck Satinedge did the cutting.
I saved the Dragonsbeard Oleo Base Dave sent for last. I like the scent. But was surprised that it changes to my nose once it's lathered up. To my nose it gets a sweeter smell to it.
I have some Oleo Soap already. And the reviews for Franks V2 base are positive. Once I use up a soap, one of my "On Deck Soaps" list will get the nod. Ethos is firmly in the mix.
The two badger brushes I have. This Yaqui from DeepSea and the SV. Caused me to want to yank the knot out of my Razorock 400 brush. I have ordered a "Gealousy knot to put in place of the old synthetic. But haven't seen it yet. Sad
And with all the talk bout the Tobacco aftershave that only Dave and I have here in the states. That got the call for tonight.
Friday is almost upon us. Hope everyone is ready for the weekend.

Genco “pyramid “ razor.
Kell’s original Arabian Spice
Omega Boar
Skin Bracer “talk to the hand”

Last night's shave was "different". Why you ask? Because the last time I used the Omega, was with the Derby. I know I rinsed it thoroughly. But when I lathered up the Kell's soap.
Boom the ghost of Derby made it's presence known. And then while surfing the bay. Saw the fancy brother to this razor. The Easy Aces with less than a day with no bids at a Jackson. That's how come I had to post auction up.
Like dave in KY have a bit of yard maintenance to do. Have a good Saturday.

It’s crazy Chris. While I’m picky about soaps. On the aftershave front. I tend to gravitate towards the stalwarts/classics.
Old Spice, Skin Bracer, Aqua Velva, Tabac, Clubman, Pitralon, Bay Rums.

Today I have some honing to do. These razors came down from Jersey. Kind of pressed for time. So I need to involve the Craftsman for the bevel set. Shave test tonight. Stay tuned @SteveChuckFrank View attachment 49496

That is a great idea, and one I should have adopted for the Robeson New Science Concave that I spent 2 hours setting the bevel on last night lol.

Today’s project.
Hair removal. And epoxy too. View attachment 49553View attachment 49554

Nice! Looks like the knot came out with no trouble

And boredom the internet plus PayPal is a dangerous formula
Man, you are NOT kidding.
