Down in the Heart of Texas!

I have a 100 plus of the Gillette Rubie Platinum Plus blades. Sharp and smooth they be and I used one today in my SOTD. They have since rebranded them and dropped the platinum plus from the label I believe but they are the same. I put them in the same league as the Gillette Silver Blues with perhaps a bit more sharpness to them if that makes sense. IMO they are a great blade...

Would you say they are smoother than the GSB's too or just a tad sharper?

Today's shave was as good as they get. This soap base is really excellent and it is always a pleasure to use. It took a while for me to get the lather right, but I think that is because I started out with too much water in the brush. I keep forgetting that I need my badger brushes a little dryer than my synthetics when I start loading. Not a problem though I just needed to work the lather a little more.
Another great shave with the OREN, but I may need to change the blade out soon. I noticed a bit of tugging, but I will use it again tomorrow to make sure it wasn't my technique. Even with the slight tugging I am BBS. And yes before anyone asks I did do 4 passes...
I am also really digging the scent of this soap. It is a little more citrus forward, but in this warm weather I think it is a perfect barbershop scent. I was really excited to use the splash that way I can keep the scent a little longer than just using the soap by itself. I did not look at the label, but my face feels great so there has to be some decent skin food in it. All in all today's shave was a win.

Homefront:

Little man has colic, but the wife and I have been doing some research and finding ways to help him pass the gas. So far it seems to be working, but I still feel bad for him when I see him uncomfortable. I sent out some samples and two of my straights to get honed by the legend @Maryland998 himself. Really looking forward to that patented edge, and to try the samples he sent out to me!

Thanks for reading Cadre, and I hope y'all have had a great week so far!

Thank you for the shout out Pat. I will do my best to earn legendary status. The labor of love that I put into honing someone else's razor. Is actually very enjoyable for me. Others find the task annoying. All I ask is that you be honest in your review/ assessment when you put them to use. Good. bad or otherwise. The Shogun Edge has, so far. Been universally acclaimed and well received. You will be the first Texan to experience it. Once you do. You'll have to add to your guys saying. "Everything's bigger and sharper in Texas"
Good luck with the bicycle leg gas remover routing with the baby.

Thank you, and I will definitely let you know how it goes!

Sorry the little man is having troubles. It’s no fun for anyone when they’re not feeling well.

Yeah I just feel bad for him. We are looking into getting the Windi for him, but I'm going to feel even worse for him. The process does not sound fun, but it is really supposed to help.

WARNING: This will be a longer post than normal!

Short Version:
Todays shave was great. Everything from the Razor, Soap, and Splash. Life is good.

Long Version:
So todays shave was pretty much from @Maryland998 I got a package from him yesterday that contained quite a few soap samples, plus some amazing smelling seasoning, plus a pif in the form of a razor! You have surely putdown yourself Ken that was very generous of you!
First the soap. The scent is pretty spectacular. I have not smoked a cuban, but I have smoked a few cigars and that is what this soap smells like. Rich cigar smoke and it is one of the best scents I have smelled. It isn't a cigarette or cheap cigar smell, this stuff smells like class. The lather was pretty fantastic as well. Very dense and when hydrated it provided some really nice slickness. Residual slickness was minimal, but that is not huge on my priority list. Post shave feel was pretty good too. After the alum and before the WH my face felt pretty darn soft. I can definitely see myself getting this soap.
Second, the razor. This was probably the smoothest shave I have ever gotten from a straight razor. I usually have tugging around my chin, but not today. My stubborn stubble was no match for the Gong razor. Yesterday I called Ken a legend for his patented edge, and he has rightfully earned that. Well done sir! The edge is definitely sharp and bit me a few times, but I'm okay with that. That's just technique that needs to be refined.
Finished the shave off with post-shave lather, alum, stirling splash, and then GTB! I wanted something that would go well with the soap scent and would give a nice soothing feel. My face feels awesome and I could not be happier with the shave!
Thank you again Ken!
Also Dave's Zoom call was a real treat to join in on. A ton of information I can't wait to apply to tomorrow's shave. Also advice on Talc, honing, and a new strop. Thank you for doing that Dave and I look forward to the next one!

Thanks for reading Cadre and I hope y'all have had a great weekend so far!
