Stirling is great soap. If you haven't tried it, what are you doing with your life? Get some. This one I got as a cellophane wrapped ball of soap in a PIF from Dave. It actually looked somewhat like a muffin when I got it. It plus the Model-T at 5.5 gave me a nice and easy BBS. Coffee is an okay scent and there was a nice hit of menthol in the soap. This is probably one that I would not have picked up for myself, but it is an enjoyable soap. It definitely made me think of breakfast.

Gear
The Model-T is as good as advertised.

Other Thoughts
There is nothing like retail therapy when a bout of depression hits... I now have two scents of Catie's Bubbles on the way from WCS. This is my first software purchase of 2019. One of those will also be my very first use of CB ever. I am looking forward to it.

CBL soap is, hands down, the best soap in my den right now. But, unfortunately, not all of the ones I have tried work for me. Ghost Lime is one that I won't be keeping around since my face doesn't like it. Apparently Tobacco & Carmel is another one that won't be staying. It lit my face up this morning. The shave was great otherwise. The Model-T delivered at 6.0. But the irritation from the scent is lingering a bit. I guess you can't win 'em all.

So, I gave my boxed Coticule a run last night for a second attempt at honing my ZY 430 from the other day. I got a good slurry and I was getting lots of swarf, but I never got a burr on the edge. So, I have no idea if I got the bevel right. It doesn't help that the ZY has a stainless blade, which is probably making things more difficult for me. Learning to hone on Coticules is going to be a slow process.

Other Thoughts
Happy Friday! I hope everyone has a happy Easter.

Stainless is a pretty big pain to hone for sure. might want to use something in a carbon to figure out the coti lol.

Today's shave was really good. The Merkur is a nice, mild, and efficient. Everything about it was a stellar two pass BBS. Not much to say about it, just a great shave.

All good here.

Thinking about Sri Lanka...

Shave Quality
Today's shave was really interesting. Let's start with the razor (pictured above). This is a Chinese razor, so I expected it to be mild, like most of the Chinese razors which I have used. I wasn't expecting it to be this mild, however. The 1 setting on the 3000s was perhaps the mildest shave I have ever had with a DE. It was in fact too mild. I am used to the blade scraping off just about all of the soap. This one left a decent layer of residue on my face. It was slick as hell, so it made follow-up strokes easy. I don't think I have had this much residual slickness before. This leads me to the soap. This is another CBL creation and it is phenomenal. The soap is really, really slick to begin with. (I added more water than usual for me.) I love the scent. I hope @CBLSoap.com brings back the Bay Rum at some point. The razor skate across my face. The combination of ultra mild razor and ultra slick soap made for a truly irritation free shave. Unfortunately it was only about DFS+ as far as whisker removal goes, but who can complain?

Gear
The Ming Shi 3000s is an inexpensive adjustable razor. The build quality is ok, but nothing to write home about. The shave quality is good so far, but I will need to use it on higher settings to get the BBS shaves that I am looking for.

Other Thoughts
Bosch season 5 on Amazon Prime is really, really good. I love this show and I recommend it to everyone. I think it justifies the cost of the Prime subscription along with the two-day shipping.

Tuesday I will maybe take another run at setting a bevel on the coti, but we shall see. Also, I need to get the Brass General cleaned up and in the mail.

The missus got Prime recently, since she currently gets a student discount. Looking forward to diving in to some of their content.

I don't think I've seen any episodes of Bosch. It's one of those things where I keep seeing ads for it and think I need to remember to watch it and never do.

Today's shave was better than yesterday's. The shave was still incredibly mild, but got me to BBS. It was quite enjoyable. The CBL Russian Tea smells great and performs very well. CBL is my favorite soap. Just a great SOTD.

Gear
All good.

Other Thoughts
Finished Bosch season 5. It ended very well. Now we are re-watching The Fifth Element. Great movie.
